Where was the blitz all night?????

By on November 17th, 2013 in Member Post 3 Comments »

Live by the blitz, die by the blitz. We almost died without even blitzing . I don’t get it! Years ago, everyone thought I was crazy picking the Giants over New England in the Super Bowl. I knew the Giants were going to get after Brady. You never let the best SEC qb sit back with time to throw like that. I don’t get Ellis’ strategy.  What do you think?

One saftey blitz attempt I recall saw Murray reading it and almost throwing a TD because the safety got stopped by OL…with our mediocre LB play, I don’t expect to see a lot of blitz packages this season. The LBs have to pick up man-to-man coverage with corner and safety blitzes and we don’t have LBs that can do that.
Our Defense has been our weakest link this season, and yesterday illustrated that more than any game this season. Credit needs to be given to Murray as well. Our DL is stellar in holding Gurley to half his season average…we just need LBs in the worst way. LBs should have the highest # of tackles on a defense and ours simply do not bear the numbers. Our defense is still a recruiting class away from being “much improved”.

We had a good pass rush early until UGA started taking out our ends legs by basically tackling them after the snap. Unfortunately this tactic is allowed.

Honestly, I don’t know if we can pull that off just yet.
