What did Santa bring you?

I am sure everyone got something special for Christmas. Please share your gift, memory, or special happening with the rest of us.

A lot of time with family I love. Oh yeah and some necessities. Absolutely what I wanted!

……We’re still awaiting arrivals to really tear into the presents, but hands down my favorite thus far is a pair of Sennheiser HD 380 pro headphones. They rock!

You will appreciate this gift. I was surprised with an analog to digital converter Pre-amp. I can now convert all of my old vinyl to CD’s and store on my computer.

      • Acid Reign Acid Reign says:

…..Converting vinyl to digital is a whole mini-science unto itself, fraught with disagreements and angst all around. My advice is to get it done sooner rather than later. At some point I’m told, I’ll no longer be able to tell the difference, due to age related ear degeneration.

…..Funny little tale… I was doing some headphone shopping the prior week, because my ancient Sennheisers bit the dust and we could not find a solution short of trying to re-soldier all the wires on it. And after taking the things apart, we found both drivers damaged. Basically, I had to accept that my old cans were dead.

…..I did some shopping online, and drew a few helpful opinions. But I’m not going to sign off on a major $200 plus headphone purchase without listening myself. This is where the brick and mortar stores still are valuable. I am ashamed to admit that we ended up at Best Buy, strictly on selection. And these guys were REALLY pushing the Dr. Dre “Beats” series, if the shopper indicated a willingness to spend more than a C-note.

…..I was tempted. If you’re going to listen to a diet of rap and industrial stuff, those things will bring the bass!

…..I told the salesman that I wanted a “flat” sound, which seemed to confuse the heck out of him. By “flat,” I mean faithful replication of what the mastering engineer on the recording actually heard. I hold no illusions that I can dial up a better EQ on today’s modern home electronics than the professionals developed in the modern studio!

…..Next, I told the salesfolk that it had to be LOUD! That I was going to drive the crap out of it! I got what seemed to be a stock lecture on hearing damage. I replied that I had been hearing requests to turn my noise down for more than fifty years, and at this point, it was no longer likely to happen.

…..So, we got together on durability, fidelity, and loudness. My new cans are lower impedance, and will get downright NASTY on my old Creek headphone amp!

Nice thing about the unit I got is it will work. Both ways. I can run digital from my iPad or computer thru it to my power amp and speakers

I got two AU themed gifts this year. I have the wool banner with all if the logos over the years. I also got grilling utensils with the AU logos on them. Now come on tailgating season. I’m ready to tailgate in style in CT!

Well, let me say that it took a 55 gallon drum size trash bag for all the shredded wrapping paper. Lots of cool stuff all around. For me it is not Christmas unless you get socks and underwear. Been happening for over 55 years now. This year I requested a double dose so I could have a new batch to stay in the motorhome for trips. .

As usual I get to buy myself a gift. This year it was a electric trap thrower to hone my pityful shooting skills. Maybe I won’t waste too many shells this year. I am absolutely positive I have heard quail laughing at me as they flew out of site.

The best thing is I got to spend another Christmas with my wonderful wife, her 85 year old parents, and my 95 year old mother. Not much family left, each year is a bonus.

This was a good idea; thanks for posting it MyAuburn.

I was hoping on a new shotgun but looks like I will have to buy it myself. But I may have to cancel that new gun and get a thrower like you since my regular (and economical) hunting place may have gone out of business. If not Bill, you will be smoking me come February.

But hey, I did get some new shoes that I have wanted for a long time and been too tight to pay the high dollar amount for them. And the best gift of all was time spent with family. Life is good. I’m blessed far beyond what I deserve.

Merry Christmas to all. And as Tiny Tim said …

      “God bless us, everyone!”

I am enjoying a new I Pod and a new Under Armour Auburn jacket that I purchased for myself at a TJ Maxx in Athens, GA. I found it under a stack of UGA jackets. I saw this same jacket in the bookstore for $150 and they let me have it for $50.

Also, it was great to spend time with the family after recent events even if most were Bama fans.

    Merry Xmas!

…..In other, non-headphone news, I got some really nice new paring knives, Batman KN Rises DVD, the new Trans Siberian Orchestra EP, and “the ultimate rain gauge” from Amazon. It sez we have had almost two inches of rain in the past twelve hours. Luckily, the tornadoes and really bad stuff have happened well south of us.

…..I also accumulated some mad money, including enough Williams Sonoma bucks to cash in on a huge All-Clad stock pot I’ve had my eye on for a few years.

…..My son got me a Lego kit. How awesome is that? I was a HUGE lego builder as a kid. As an adult, it took me a couple of hours around lunch to put my Star Wars jedi fighter kit together. But I did it, and it will join my display area up high on the shelves around my studio monitors…

Too blessed to stress the small stuff. A Christmas Eve family outing in Wetumpka with my side of our LARGE family, and then Christmas Day was spent with her side.

Hunting knives, and my favorite salsa with the Auburn logo. 5 jars along with the Ruffles. A couple of gift cards for Sears and Lowes, so I’m set for what I have to “fix” next.

The best gift of all, was surviving that horrendous line of storms and three tornado warnings through it all.

    God bless, and War Eagle!

I’m not sure if this will come through but I have an Auburn Christmas tree with several ornaments I have collected over the years.

    WAR EAGLE !!!

    GO BIG BLUE !!!

Note: I have a nice picture of the tree and ornaments but don’t know how I can send it through the comments section. If someone will tell me how, I’ll send it. Thanks and WAR EAGLE!
