Vanquish LSU! (Auburn at LSU Open Thread)
LSU will attempt to climb back into the SEC West race today
War Eagle, everybody! The Auburn football season continues this afternoon with a visit to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers. LSU had a rough couple of weeks in late September, getting blown out at Mississippi State and losing its homecoming game against Troy. LSU seemed to have somewhat righted the ship last weekend with an upset, edging out Florida, 17–16. This week, LSU hosts Auburn in the CBS headliner game of the week. This one kicks off at 2:30 PM, Central Daylight Time.
LSU’s issues this year can directly be traced back to injuries on both lines of scrimmage. This week, they hope to have their defensive line back close to full strength, and that will be a matchup that bears watching. Auburn has shuffled its line several times this season, and it is up in the air whether banged-up left guard Mike Horton will start. LSU will have to win the battle up front to slow down an Auburn offense that has been averaging 48 points per game in SEC play. On the other side, LSU may well start 3 freshman on the offensive line. Frankly, that seems a recipe for disaster, against Auburn’s fearsome front.
For those attending this game, expect a hot one. The calendar says “October,” but the kickoff temperature is expected to be 88 degrees with a blistering sun overhead. There is not supposed to be any chance of rain.
As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I will at the keyboard for my usual play by play this afternoon. War Eagle, and let’s see if Auburn can get its first win in Baton Rouge this millennium!
No Mr. Malzahn, it’s not the end of the world but with any luck it will be the end of your employment with Auburn University.
sick sick sick i couldn’t eat supper watching this last night. So brilliant in the first half. Finishing the game has been a problem for Auburn the last few years. I can hear the Pigs rootin and the Dawgs yowling.. We will see what the coaches are made of these next three games. The players deserve more than than what happened with the play calling @2nd half. Coaches are there to coach. I feel like they let us down
Okay my fellow Auburn friends and family, there you have it. Just what meathead530 and Atl AU fan have stated. No ACCOUNTABILITY from our million dollar coaching staff. We have been humiliated enough because our head coach needs to be more aggressive and demand perfection from his players and staff. I know it’s a movie, but in “Remember The Titans”, Coach Boone demanded this in his team. I should know, because I lived outside of Alexandria. Had the pleasure and honor of meeting the real Coach Boone. Class act and great coach. Brought out the best in ALL his staff and players. I love Auburn, bleed orange and blue, and will always support Auburn. But the past events, demand a change in the guard at AU. Come on fellow AU family and see the light. We deserve better days ahead. No, it’s not the end of the world, but hopefully there will be a new beginning soon for us all. War Eagle! !
It shows his attitude. He should be angry with himself and embarrassed. His team and fans are let down. The answer is that he failed.
It is not the end of the world – with that, I agree.
BUT, how can there be answers to what was witnessed today/tonight?
@meathed520 – there au go – zero accountability on the coaching staff. This is the part that most ticks me off… And the better question?
Gus says this loss wasn’t the end of the world. There you go.
Due to some family issues we changed our flights and will be flying home tomorrow on Sunday and, now I’m glad we made this change.
Just still reeling a bit from this one. NO reason to lose this yet AU did.
At this point, I am not going to push for a new AD – new coach? Yeah, I probably will – BUT if it takes a new AD then so be it…
AU has TOO much talent for this crap. PERIOD.
So, here we are… Back at hotel now and I have to say that I have never before witnessed what I saw today. So much BS yet so many opportunities wasted.
I have supported Gus through thick and this but tonight the thin part is just too thin.
How can a team go from 20-0 to losing 27-23? Well,, just follow the footprint that Auburn displayed today.
Don’t get me wrong – I will support my school and my team – but, at this point, we have the wrong people in the wrong places at the wrong time.
If anyone is pleased with the performance today then you are obviously wearing Purple an Gold – no one wearing Orange and Blue can be pleased with this debacle. Or, if you are, then find a different thread.
@AUTiger57 – we don’t often, if ever, agree, but following this debacle, I’m not sure I have much choice. Much the same as it is better me and Col. Angus.
I’,m done — This coaching staff just gave away a perfectly winnable game – and why? Well, therein lies the question…
I just don’t know what to think at this point – I really, really, don’t.
ThirdGenTgr – Yes. I completely understand.
As much as I disapprove of the AD, this HOT GARBAGE falls squarely on the shoulders of the Head Football Coach and his staff. I would like a new one. Let the blood letting begin, please.
Agree 100% Col. We definitely need a new AD first!!! I just want a change for the better. Tired of mediocrity and settling for being average. Bama and Ga are miles ahead of us. Wake up all you Auburn fans and see reality. War Eagle
We dont need a committee. A committe is a cop out and a way to avoid to accountability. We need a new AD, that is smart and has the guts to make the right hire. We have the money to hire whoever we want to, we just make the wrong hire, time and again. You cant pay too much if you get the right guy. If you paid Saban, $30 million is it too much?? Hell no! Who is the guy to get? I don’t know. I just know who we shouldn’t keep.
Today’s game has only confirmed what I have felt for the past 5 years. NEVER was on the Gus Bus in the beginning. Was the wrong hire along. Time for a change before any decent coach is taken. We need a committee that gets it right this time!!!!!! War Eagle!!
Gus made is name on offense and that’s something he hasn’t been able to produce against average d units! Oh we need a qb … heard that often…..get one still no offense. Ga qb’s are freshman and look good out the gate. Beside Newton I would have traded qb’s with Ga every year. What are we waiting for? Miles is gone still can’t beat a down LSU. Satan will never leave (Saban excuse me), since he’s God in Alabama. Ga replaces a legend and I now we can’t beat them. Where’s the positive…. basketball……nope it’s on ESPN …under investigation…softball looked good but same thing….
Should Gus go? Yes. Will he? Probably not.
Can a replacement be worse? Yes, much worse, but I am can’t stomach KNOWING that we will lose every big game, every game in Death Valley (either location), every game against UGA and Bama that Jesus doesn’t personally attend in Navy and Orange.
Gus has proven that it isn’t going to get any better.
Whether or not we can do better, we now know Gus is not going to get us to where we can compete with UGA and Bama. He is not up to the task. We will never be able to field better talent than we have now and we are inept on offense when it matters the most. If you are inept at what you are supposed to excell at??? You are of no use. Time to move on.
Absolutely ridiculous!!! How in the world do you blow 20 point 1st qtr. lead? Answer: completely inept offensive play calling. Who decides to run the ball between the tackles from 99 yards away? How do only s ore 3 points in 3 quarters after scoring 20 in the first quarter? It’s time to send Gus to his next job.
Hopefully EVERYONE will understand now. Auburn can do better than Gus Malzahn.
Hey we landed 4 star DL Coynis Miller!! Next year, he can watch our anemic offense keep his fatigued defense on the field while we lose to every team that has a defensive pulse.
of course he will likely sign with Bama when the check clears on signing day
Im done with Gus, this is inexcusable. YOU NEVER EVER take points for granted in the SEC. We had that team beat in the 1st Qtr and we acted like the game was over.
If we are going to run the Wildcat when it matters the most, just run it the whole f’n game. If you cant think of a good gameplan and some innovative plays to run in the redzone, just run the wildcat all the time.
I’m done defending Gus. It would be a terrible year to try to replace him, but I would love to see what a competent coach could do with this talent.
No they get to beat free of charge every two years.
Did LSU pay Auburn 985,000 dollars like they did Troy?? Might explain this
If you can’t beat the good teams(not Lsu) when their down when can u beat them?
Besides year one, what are Gus’s highs? Beating Ole Miss?
No need to keep Malzahn around. Anyone who thinks differently likes soft gameplams with leads in ballgames.
It aint ever going to get any better. His nadir was his first year. Top 10 talent….the best WR recruit in the nation ON THE FU_____BENCH???? AND we cant catch the ball.
So long, time to start over.
I vote for change at Auburn
Gus Bus at its finest today. What a fitting end. Gosh we suck. How long for this regime? How long do we put up with these results?
So long Gus!!
As great as the Gus Malzahn highs are,it is games like this that makes me think he might need to go.
Auburn fell apart in 2Q
….My time is up, and I thank you for yours. It’s great to be an Auburn Tiger.
…..LSU needs only to snap it, and they’ll win, 27-23.
Damn, I was hoping for a really good trip down to Baton Rouge. Not so much as it turns out.
…..4th and 10, last play. Sacked. Wow.
Almost a pick 6
……3rd and 10. Stidham under the gun, a dropped pick six, bad throw.
…..2nd and 10 Blitz, and threw low. 11 seconds remain.
refs just plowing us in the butt
…..Why are we going down the middle with no timeouts?
…..Snap, fires to hastings, behind him, can’t bring it in.
…..Here’s Stidham. Backed off coverage. Scrambles, Stidham is pulled down at the 37.
Looking like chicken $h-t early was ok but not now
This is how I felt in overtive of the SuperBowl
And this is what happens when you get a lead and try to protect it and taking your foot off the gas.
…..Stidham has just two completions, this half.
I don’t even know if I let Gus hand around the rest of the season. We might get an emotional boost from letting him go and beat UGA.
…..Ryan Davis and Eli Stove deep. TOuchback.
Let down of epic proportions
Well, here we go… No timeouts, :38 seconds, and needing a TD.
…..Or is that Derrick Brown? Yes. He’s up, and walking off.
Not sure what we did to be cursed so bad. Damn cigars. Boy ol’ Gus looks over his head today; not Coach O.
20 to nothing”……….lol
….Devan Barrett down on the field.
…..With 38 seconds left in the game, LSU extends the lead to 27-23.
Yep — and AU should have had this one in the bag WAY early
…..Culp in for a 36 yard attempt. It’s good.
Our road to anything just got massively harder. We have to win out to get to ATL and before this game I would have said this team had a shot but now…
…..They can attempt a field goal with about 40 seconds, and make any comeback, very unlikely.
I could have a chicken bone lodged in my esophogus and wouldn’t choke worse than the offense did today.
P A T H E T I C
…..Here’s a give to Guice, gets nothing, clock will run. From the 19.
Auburn is out of timeouts, with 3rd and 4.
What an embarrassing collapse. Shameful and pathetic
We may never win in BR ever again.
….Guice, to the 18, and another timeout. With 1:29 left.
No way we beat TAM or UGA or Bama
How could we ever win a natty with this coaching performance! Maybe if it was the second half wonders instead of first?
…..I’ll have to watch the tape, but I see one unit that might get an F, this week.
and the streak lives.
So long Gus!
….They have one left.
Give Guice, nothing, and Auburn calls time.
…..3 drops, on that drive.
….LSU takes over, with 1:39 left in the ball game, leading 24-23.
Ardent Key was offsides again. No call.
…..For all the marbles. Here’s Stidham. Flushed. Cannella drops another one, up at midfield.
Slayton has 146477 drops in this game.
This is painful.
I think go for it — what’s to lose now? The game is lost otherwise.
Here’s your ballgame.
This is Auburn football!
Punt and hope to hold or go for it??
….Stidham has gotten BELTED on the last two plays.
Slayton cant F_______ catch the ball
Can’t block and cant catch
…..Auburn calls time, on 4th and 10.
…..3rd and 10. Here’s a big rush. Here’s Darius Slayton with a drop on the out route.
And Stadium got nailed after the throw
I will play your dumb and raise to stupid…
Is Carlson good from 80?
…..2nd and 10. Blitz, cannella drops one.
…..Dumb, dumb, dumb.
……1st and 10 at the 25. Pistol set. Barrett in motion, dumps to Barrett, and dropped for nothing. OBVIOUS play call.
time is not an issue with Carlson on the bench, execution is
Well, AU does have maybe the absolute BEST FG kicker in FBS BUT have to get the ball into FG range. The part that ticks me off is that it should never have come down to this. Who gives up a 20-0 lead and then doesn’t lead in the 4th?? Well, that is AU today.
So Gary FREAKING Danielson can diagnose our passing problems…
…..Here we go. Can’t do too many runs.
Hopefully the game plan changes from runit up the middle and deep pass on 2nd down
….Kickoff will go thru the end zone.
….Auburn does have all three timeouts remaining, but someone HAS to catch the ball!
Put up or shut up time offense.
….With 2:36 left in the game, LSU takes a 24-23 lead.
…..Kicking team in. They only have one timeout remaining. Here is Culp, from 43. Good.
Gus should have gone for it on his 4th and short and they should here. The way our O is playing they could get stopped and STILL get it back in time for another shot.
20 to nothing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is what ticks me offfffffffffffff!
you run the clock AND they can still get a FG
Block that kick.
…>From 43, and LSU calls time.
…..In comes the field goal team, as the clock runs under three minutes.
I go for it if Im them
I honestly haven’t seen the defense of LSU doing too much different. Now, to be completely square, I’m watching in person so maybe not seeing everything so may be missing some things. But, what changed from the offense for AU in the first quarter? OR, even better perhaps, what changed for the LSU defense?
Inept it is.
…..Here we go. Shotgun. Trips right. Keeper, and I think he’s a foot short.
3 weeks of no stress games. Then this
Next time we should go for 4-1 in first half since we can’t score in second.
we should have so many options on offense, KJ, Pettway, NCM, Ryan Davis, Stove, Hastings……and it seems like we only have KJ that can do anything. Thats called inept playcalling and execution
How does Jay Jacobs keep his job given his record of coaching hires?
…..Ideal situation for LSU would be to get another first down, and would be able to mostly run the clock out, and kick a medium-range field goal. If they get nothing more, the attempt would be from 45 yards. Their longest on the year is 42.
The Auburn men are talented. The offensive coaching is lacking.
This would be a great time to quit ignoring holding, refs.
…..3rd and 3. And LSU calls time, with 3:20 left in the game.
….Brown on the stop.
…..2nd and 3. Power set right. Give Guice, nothing doing!
Agree – Defense has been left out to dry so even depth has limitations – Offense giving nothing to rest the defense. And now, no cushion whatsoever.
Yep. This is on Gus if we lose. And he’ll say “We’ll get better. I promise.”
in FG range
……Here is the pistol. Give to Guice, a hole down to the Auburn 28.
If we lose it is on Gus, once again.
…..New set of downs. Clock under 5 minutes.
…..3rd and 5 from the Auburn 40. Shotgun. Will screen to Guice, will get just to the corner, and is out at the 35.
they are having to hold us out of the fire
if we lose, its not on the defense.
Let’s get a pick 6.
…..2nd and 9. Power look. Give Guice, will fight for about 3 or 4.
I have faith in the defense.
Loss here turns into 3 more before season ends.
Thought we had “depth” on defense
…..ONe back set. Guice, will get about one, at the 44.
BUT this is exactly what I was hearing my Bama friend screaming last week! Haha
…..A tired, banged up defense is back out there.
I wonder if they regret running the Wildcat into the line and settling for field goals ?
…..We were luckly that LSU was playing us with only 6 in the box, and allowed us to build a 20-0 lead. Now, they have figured out that Auburn can’t do anything but throw into double coverage, and the receivers can’t catch it, anyway.
This is why I have sold my season tickets the last four years.
Where are the passes to RBs? Where is Devan Barrett? This not only looks like a conservative offense, it looks like a completely different one.
This is horrindous! Looked great for two quarters, then fat prom date photo look.
Slayton, is not trustworthhy at all. He is 50/50 if it hits his hands
…..LSU has 6:40 left to work with, and needs only a field goal. They trail, 23-21.
Why are we locked on Slayton with double coverage? Cannella starts the game with a one handed catch and dissappears!
we need a turnover to win this game
…..Here’s Marshall against the wind, from his own end zone. Low liner, Chark catches it at the Auburn 45, and falls out of bounds.
….Lost that ball going out, too.
…..3rd and a long 12. Twins either side. Rolls left, will run, will be butted out at the 4 yard line.
Good ol’ Gus offense.
good god, that wheels are almost completely off
This is what Auburn does every season. Why I got my hopes up is beyond me.
…..3rd and 11. Stidham takes a delay of game.
Why are we locked on Slayton with double coverage? Cabell starts the game with a one handed catch and dissappears!
How come we let LSU comeback, weren’t we up 20
No holding here
LSU playing defense; AU NOT playing offense – and the remaining crowd is louder now than anytime prior.
…..2nd and 11. In the gune, Stidham goes deep, into double coverage, tipped up, and Slayton can’t get it.
hopfefully we dont get a safety
one or two scoops???
…..Auburn going from the two. Give KJ, lost a yard.
Looks like a win by Two or a loss by one.
if you think you are getting anything other than Vanilla on your cone on this drive, you are crazy. Gus testicles are closer to his heart than his thighs right now
…..Ole Miss adds a field goal, in Oxford. They lead Vandy 47-21, late in the 3rd.
Time to play ball, men. You’ve got this.
…..They had double handfuls of Jeff Holland’s jersey, on the last two snaps.
Score and win it’s that simple
….With 7:47 left in the game, Auburn is hanging on, 23-21.
Season defining drive right here. Man up.
I wonder how much LSU had to pay these refs? They are certainly getting their money’s worth
at LEAST two holds on that
…..Is downed at the Auburn 2.
…..Punt team in. Punt safe, people!
Tons of holding not called
…..Not reviewing?. Blatant holding… thrown, batted around, incomplete.
Holland was MUGGED!
Knee was DOWN
His calf wasdown
…..Knee was down before the ball was out!
…..2nd and 12. in the gun. Etling will have pressure, threw it falling, and incomplete.
Omg … tail tucked this half! No prowlers or mojo
The AU secondary is not looking for the ball at all.
Dinson should have intercepted
Oh, c’mon — wtf
…..1st and 10. Etling dancing, will go down!
AU has basically been losing since the end of the first quarter. Give LSU and Coach O credit – they haven’t given up
…..Etling with trips right. Blitz, floated, Chark has it, to the Auburn 33.
Nice, keep it tight D
…..Brings up 3rd and 15.
…..To the LSU 36, 2nd and 16. Give Williams, stood up by Holland.
Other than the score, right now, LSU IS winning. The only place they are currently losing – and not my enough – is the scoreboard.
Agree. I Have felt we were losing for at least a quarter
Big mistake there. Hope it hurts them badly.
…..2nd and 10. Etling now flagged for grounding on that! Still in the pocket.
Tigers, finish this game despite your coach. Please.
if you didn’t know the score, you would swear that LSU was winning
…..New set of downs. Three wides. Fake, and Etling throws it to the bench.
Agree on that — 2 top-10 teams already (that I know of) and AU can easily become the most recent top-10 to go down.
…..From the LSU 27. Guice is out to the 42 on the jet sweep.
again, I trust the special teams more than the play calling
10:28 remains in the ball game.
…..We did knock out a couple of first downs. Hopefully, Auburn’s in better shape on the fatigue factor, than LSU.
Col, valid point (which means I yet again have to agree with you) but last time we did that we gave up a 75-yard return for a TD
I so don’t want Auburn to be added to the upset tally for this weekend.
Been widcating all day
Gus at his best
Should have manned up and gone for that. KJ has not been stopped for less than a yard often in this game.
Great == Awesome time for a crappy punt.
I was all in for going for it.
if we wer e behind I would go for it, but I trust the defense more than I do our playcalling on 4th and 1
…..Might as well have gone for it.
…..Here’s Marshall. The punt is off the side of his foot, and downed at the 26. 24 yard punt.
GO. FOR. IT — This is not the time to be chicken
…..And we are punting to Key again? Really?
…..Under center again. Give to KJ, and I think he’s short.
for an offensive guru, he sure is scared to be aggressive
…..3rd and short. Pound it, Tigers!
…..2nd and 6. Stidham will go two tights. KJ, will stagger for 5.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by this. This is what Gus coaching does. Somehow he finds a way to lose.
I like risky, we need to unpredictable
……Give to KJ, will power for 4.
That’s fine — held onto the ball, got the first down – Mix it up and let’s do this
….Ole Miss was ofer Auburn, 5-7.
Good Lord that was risky.
…..3rd and 2. Under center. Reverse to Stove, got up to the 40!
Has Coach O ever beaten AU as a HC? I don’t think so. But, he certainly has his team and the crowd in his corner right now.
….2nd and 6. Three wides, now 2, KJ gets 4 more on the power.
…..1st and 10 Auburn. Noise. Stidham in the pistol. KJ up the gut, got 4.
CMON GUS, GO TAKE THIS GAME!!
Well, the crowd that, for the most part, has been somewhat quiet, is no longer. They are rocking it now.
We are just giving this game away.
…..High kickoff, Igbinghene from the two, butted down at the 25.
its ugly already, the only thing preventung us from this being a loss is the clock….and that is running
….Correction on the score, 23-21.
So much for simply trading 3-and-outs in the 4th…
If AU doesn’t lose this one I will never be able to figure out how.
Way too many missed opportunities. Dropped passes, dropped picks… they have all led to LSU points.
Time to score or this get get ugly
…..Well, that’s why they do short punts. I’d take one of Ian shannon’s rollers, about now.
Did the Falcons suit up for us in the 2nd qtr??
74 yard punt return for a score. LSU is up and good on the PAT, and with 14:33 left in the ball game. Auburn still leads, 23-20.
They have blocked in the back on EVERY punt. Haven’t called it once.
Block in the back – AGAIN – and – AGAIN – NO CALL
…..Block in the back on Stove, missed.
Drop in the end zone and that hurts.
How he has confidence to throw to Slayton I dont know
…..Marshall will bomb this one, Chark has room, and gone.
And all of these incomplete are not the fault of the QB. That ball should have been caught. He had a step and didn’t take advantage
…..Terrible day by the Auburn receivers.
….Stidham 0 for his last 10.
…..Pistol set. Stidham will change his play. Trips right. Floats it deep, slayton dropped the ball.
sorry, I have a huge knot in my stomach. LOL
@auburnelvis – remains to be seen but I sure as heck fire hope so. A little cushion will make us ALL feel just a wee bit better.
…..Key possession play. A first down would REALLY help, here.
Can Auburn score in second half?
Col, quit please just quit 🙂
I don’t like having to agree with you but I’m having to do that…
Just messing with ya.
….KJ had just 3 carries for 11 yards, that quarter. And Stidham has missed his last 9 passes.
Looks very much like we are playing not to lose……which always precedes a loss
Chip, Gus, or whomever, not calling the game same as first quarter. Or, if they are, then LSU DC has made correct adjustments while AU has not.
not feeling good right now, now with the our history here.
….Gameplan this half: run, run, wild confused pass play.
Will be 3rd and 5 for the good Tigers to start the 4th…
So, one more quarter of football in this one…
boy, the offense is just stagnant now
…..That’s the end of the third, with Auburn leading 23-14.
…..Two backs, draw, and he’s getting a couple on his own. Hit in the backfield.
I would like to have at least another TD for Auburn but, at the worst, trading 3-and-outs remainder of game still gets AU the win.
……Here’s KJ, got only 2.
…..Auburn has it with some room, at the 20.
…..Punt, and Rosenberg punts it into the end zone!
Dean maybe shoulda had that one – but the breakup is good, too
…..Gage had to pull Dean’s facemask to prevent the pick.
…..3rd and 9. Etling in the gun. He will go deep corner, and nearly picked off, Dean!
Need a stop here – REALLY need a stop here
…..Etling back in, 2nd and 11. Ace formation. Will Give off the left, GUice got a couple.
…..New set of downs. Shotgun. Keeper, and that’s not Etling, sort of a wildcat that lost a yard.
Etling allllllllll daaaaaaaay to throw
….Up at midfield.
…..Here is a bomb by Etling, and Chark has it over Ruffin.
…..Boo birds, but the tackle did move his arms.
……Yes. 1st and 15.
I hope Bama beats up Arky for us. I looks like we will be hurting next week, regardless of the outcome
…..1st and 10 LSU. Here’s a false start?
…..LSU takes over, with Auburn leading 23-14.We’ve got 3:06 left in the 3rd quarter.
3rd and 5 would be a nice time to pull that read option pass
…..Ole Miss up 44-21 on Vanderbilt, in the 3rd. A bowl game is looking less and less likely for this year’s Commodore team.
…..Marshall to punt. And key with the fair catch at the 24.
That was two straight bad plays by JS. Second read?
…..A rare missed block by KJ, there.
…..3rd and 5. In the gun. 3 man front. Tries to run, nothing doing.
…..Bad read, there. Into double coverage.
…..2nd and 5. Fake, will go deep into coverage, whew. Incomplete.
Thats why I hate we couldn’t keep the foot on the gas
We are definitely getting beat up
……Here’s Stidham at the 30. Will deal it to KJ, got 5.
…..A lot of defenders appeared to be limping, at the end of that series. Coe, Deshaun Davis, Brown, and Marlon Davidson.
…..If they don’t trip Roberts, he might still be running.
Thank y o u D. Your time O.
….In comes the punt team. Roberts has it, will be tripped at the 30. Got about 3.
…..3rd and 11. Shotgun. Steps up, fires over the middle, and I’m not sure who he was trying to throw that to!
Big 3 and out.
…..2nd and 11. Etling in the pistol. Etling will throw one in the dirt, incomplete!
…..LSU 1st and 10. Williams, dumped for a loss!
Shotgun two back. Have Pettway to the left for pass pro and KJ to the right to hand off to.
Defense HAS to tackle in order to “carry us” — Was hoping for some better adjustments in the second half but still lots of game to play so will see.
Come on D we need a stop.
I would feel much better right now if AU had more points or if LSU had fewer points.
But, I’m guessing I’m not the only one feeling that way…
…..They are not calling interference, nor holding on the line. Pretty much just letting them play.
Looks like defense wil have to carry us
No use in playing Pettway today. I guess he is not close to healthy.
LSU secondary is covering our guys
Stidham doesnt have options
AND they are getting away with PI
…..Marshall will punt, and Chark has it out of bounds at the LSU 25.
Ball deemed out of bounds, Col, and not catchable therefore, no PI.
No chance at the 1st if he catches anyway.
…..Incomplete balls adding up.
Getaway carries are of no use today. Horrible series.
…..3rd and 17. Trips right. Stidham will change his play. Will Hastings drops one on the cross.
how much holding do you have to do to get called for PI???
AU doing more damage to AU than LSU
I hope we aren’t imploding here.
…..3rd and 12. Substitution infraction on top of it.
Ardent Key was offsides. No call.
…..2nd and 12. Stidham checks. Will back shoulder fade it, too far out of bounds.
Pettway just isn’t effective right now.
Pettway long around the end? Really?
pettway….not so much
Kerryon is running with passsion
…..New set of downs at the 44. Two backs. Give Pettway, loses 3 on the sweep.
Kerry on wants the ball. I love Pettway too, but give it to him.
…..2nd and 6 at the 38. Huddle, under center. WIll give to KJ, breaks tackles, and he’s slammed into the bench way out of bounds.
Little bit of razzle/dazzle there but not for much
……From the 34, pitch to Stove, and not much.
Should have turned that one up just a bit sooner. but, flags on the field and that will be a first down
…..Key hit Stidham way late, three steps.
Gotta know where the sticks are. LSU bails us out.
….Roughing the passer? Yep!
…..3rd and 7. Stidham will fire to Hastings, will be tripped up short.
Nice block by KP
Pettway just destroeyd a rusher
That was ugly.
…..2nd and 8. Shotgun. Stidham changing the play, clock under ten. Stidham has time, will scramble, and gets nothing.
Time to have a strong offensive drive here.
GaTech leading UM 21-13 in the third…
…..TIgers backed up. Here is Pettway, got about 2. LSU was ready for that tight end, moved in. Lotta guys in the box.
Line up and play football. Hand it to KJ and don’t get cute. I’d consider a deep shot on first to stretch them out again.
if I see the wildcat again, outside of the redzone Im going to pull out what little hair I have left
…..A few first downs, at least!
…..Checking the SEC scoreboard, Ole Miss leads Vanderbilt 35-21 at the half.
AU now needs to take the reigns (no pun intended there, Acid) and score 7 — no excuses, just DO it.
we need to execute and be agressive here
…..I’d have punted. Auburn is notorious for 3rd quarter stalls.
…..We gave up field position, and time of possession, on that drive. Last thing Auburn needs is a three ‘n’ out, here.
Hatter LSU teams I would have been leery of a fake there.
…..Punt team in. Back spins, and Roberts fair catches at the ten.
took forever…but I’ll take it
Should have been a sack, but mission accomplished.
…..3rd and 12. In the gun. Etling will spin out, and has to throw it away!
Big down here.
…..2nd and 12. Shotgun. Etling will have time, misses Gage.
Another hold – away from the play – and not even looked at; much less called.
……Pitch to GUice, will be pushed out behind the line!
Guice is getting in a groove.
….Auburn is getting pushed around, up front.
…..2nd and 4. Pistol set, and give to Guice, all the way to the Auburn 37.
So much for Guice not being 100% — if he were then we would already be in even more trouble
…..1st and 10. Trips right. Give Guice, and dragging tacklers to the 44.
Holding and blocks in the back that haven’t been called against LSU
…..3rd and 3.Etling will fires on the hitch, first down at midfield.
theyve been holding us
why cant we get away with a few
……2nd and 10. Here’s Guice, and he’s got 7.
and they have true frehmen playing on the tackles
…..Lucky not to get flagged, there.
…..New set of downs. Here’s a speed sweep, flea flicker, swatted out by Roberts!
Well, not the pressure needed, Col.
How are we letting Etling pick us apart like this?
…..3rd and 12. Etling will take, and finds Chark on the sit-down route.
We desperately need to put pressure here
…..2nd and 13. SPeed sweep, only a yard for Dillon.
…..Motion right, Etling to throw, will FINALLY be sacked!
Well, the field is positioned so that players are running north/south – we are just on the East side of the south end zone and we are, and have been, in full sun.
…..LSU starts at the 25.
…..Carlson to kick off. Booted, and through the end zone.
…..LSU appears to be in the shade, while Auburn still bakes under a hot sun.
…..That leaves Stephen Roberts and Nick Ruffin at safety. That hitch pass that gained 37 yards was on Ruffin’s side. You have to think that Carlton Davis thought he had deep help, to dive for a ball.
Thanks, Acid – that’s wonderful news about Tray –
/sarcasm (in case you didn’t catch that) 🙂
And, Col., think I saw NCM on sideline — will look when I can
…..Tray Matthews has a hamstring pull, and might not play the second half.
Acid, the KD absence could be due to his mother’s illness – Hate that but also hope it isn’t a suspension or similar discipline that held him out.
I’ve heard absolutely nothing and, to be honest, didn’t even know to ask
Well, LSU crowd in club level still thinking AU has this one in the bag. Comments to me were “LSU just doesn’t have enough to hang with Auburn”; AU will turn the jets back on in the second half”, etc.
Man, I hope they are accurate. I was really – as were most if not all of you – vastly disappointed in that 2nd quarter. No need for any of that.
I think KD is out for this game. Not really sure of the reason(s) but I do know I haven’t seen him so not sure he made the trip.
…..Kyle Davis did not make the trip. He was not on any injury lists…
Where is Kyle Davis and NCM?? If I am throwing a fade in the end zone? I’m dialing up those guys.
I will be happy with a win, regardless of how we get it, but I sure would like to use our talent effectively and put away a team that shouldn’t be able to keep pace with us.
OK / TX looking similar to our game. OK got out to a roaring 20-0 lead in the first, but go into the locker room up 20-10 after giving up 10 unanswered.
…..Ole MIss is exploding on Vandy, now up 35-14, rattling off 4 straight touchdowns. About two minutes remaining in the first half.
I can not abide our offensive play calling. WE HAVE TO STAY AGGRESSIVE
…..Kerryon Johnson has 123 rushing yards on 21 carries. Stidham got off to a hot start, but a stone-cold finish, with some dropped balls. Stidham is 7 of 13 now, for 159 and a single touchdown.
I really don’t want to be negative. Therefore, I am not saying anything else.
A laugher, is now a nail biter.
…..At the half, it’s Auburn 23, LSU 14.
and AU content to simply so into halftime
,,,,KJ for seven, and they’ll let it run out.
If we don’t start playing disciplined on defense we are going to crap this one away
LSU cant matriculate down the field, we have to make them earn their way and quit giving up big plays
…..Martin and Igbinoghene, and returnable. Igbinoghene will be decked at the 20.
From 20-0 to 23-14? And that happened awfully quickly, too.
Wow. We owned the first but we traded our FGs for their TDs in the second.
…..He bobbled that ball all the way, but it never hit the ground.
We could be winning this one going away.
And there shouldn’t have been a ballgame
LSU is not going to quit.
….Culp banks one off the upright, and good. With 22 seconds left in the half, Auburn leads, 23-14.
I think play will stand
Not sure he wasn’t bobbling that
And now we have a ballgame.
….Shotgun set. Etling will throw the fade, touchdown by Gage.
This looks a lot like the end of last year’s game.
But, weirdly, crowd not all that much into the game.
…..The big play on this drive was a simple quick hitch pass. Carlton Davis dove for the ball, didn’t get it, and Chark was off and running.
…..Auburn leads 23-7, but LSU is threatening, with 2nd and 10 at the Auburn 14.
Need to hold to a FG right here. Get to the locker room and regroup.
And LSU isn’t doing anything fancy that I can see. AU defense just playing sloppy as crap.
Sorry, in my opinion.
…..LSU calls time, with 40 seconds left.
….Shovel pass, nothing doing.
…..Clock is under a minute.
…..3rd and 1. Give Williams, will get to the 14.
Play the whole game, Auburn!
Another good grief
….Dumped over the middle, and Gage has it down to the 17.
Yeah, definitely a drop
…..And the officials take it away. Receiver fell down. Yes, that’s a drop.
Can we please put that slow white boy on the ground!!
…..From the Auburn 27. Trips left. PICKED OFF!
Oh, good gosh
…..Keeper, and Etling has the first down out of bounds.
…..Etling hit, grabbed, spins, and slings it to Merou.
A tackle — C’mon, a tackle. Geez
…..First and ten LSU. Shotgun, no backs, quick pass to Chark, breaks away, for a 37 yard gain.
Come on D
Will be glad for halftime — will at least be able to head into the club and the AC!
…..What Auburn was doing offensively was showing three or 4 wide, and getting LSU into nickel. Then, they would motion Jalen Harris in as an H-back, and basically running jumbo against six in the box.
Apart from winning the game
the most important thing to do is not get our starters beat up
Okay, let’s review what is needed from the AU defense…
3 and out,
Pick one of these defense.
…..Here’s Carlson, his sixth kickoff of the day. This one is five yards deep, touchback.
Ita good thing that LSU’s only real weapon is the jet sweep
We are wasting opportunities to put this game away
The straight wildcat is not that effective. Gotta do something at least a little different.
….A stop is quite important, here, as LSU will receive to start the second half.
Well, as they have stated — only three things can happen on a pass play and two of them are bad. That fade was under thrown and could have been picked.
Pounded all the way down the field then wasted two plays on finese in the red zone.
…..with 2:16 left in the half, Auburn takes a 23-7 lead.
…..In comes Carlson, from 26. This attempt is up and good!
…..3rd and goal from the 8. Jumbo set. Fade, a little underthrown, and batted away.
This is why you don’t stay with the Wildcat without doing something different with it
WildcAt being overused.
idiotic play calling
Getting too cute down here…
……2nd and goal at the 8. Wildcat. Here comes the rush. Keeper, and lost a half yard.
…..1st and goal at the ten. Under center. Give to Stove, will get dumped at the 8.
Only saw the facemark when they showed replay
…..Offsides, and facemask. Half the distance!
And, just like that, the LSU crowd is far quieter. Student section is trying but that’s about it.
…..2nd and 1. 3 wides. Motion in. GIve KJ, a flag, to the 20.
…..1st and 5 at the 27. Here’s KJ, for about 4.
…..A flag, substitution on LSU.
…..At the 33. Here’s KJ, for a couple.
2nd and 6. Fake, will fire, diving grab, Ryan Davis!
Keep feeding the hot hand.
……KJ, will cross to the LSU 47.
….2nd and 1. Three wides. Stidham checking off. WIll give to KJ, gets about ten more yards!
Holy cow. KJ is a man on fire today. He just broke through a wad of people.
@AUNation — We simply cannot have too many points today
…..Here’s a give to KJ, will break tackles, to the 39!
But, still got the three-and-out — so will take it. No points for LSU are good points.
Now, AU just needs to drive down for a TD
Points. Need points.
…..Low punt, and Roberts fair catches at the 30.
Man, that so could have been the INT I wanted.
…..Javaris Davis may have knocked that out.
Good stand D
…..Possession play. Etling will have time. and a dropped ball by Marou!
There’s the play. Shut that crap down.
…..Only a yard. 3rd and 6.
There we go.
…..2nd and 7. In the gun. Will give on the sweep, dumped is Gage.
Got to stop the jet sweeps right here.
…..From the 29, first and ten. Pistol set. Give Williams, for about 3.
Etling does not have the arm to be a huge deep threat. Safeties have one main job and its run defense today.
Three and out, fumble recovery, INT, Pick Six — here are the most acceptable options.
Okay, Mr. Steele — let’s get the defense back on track here.
…..Our ends MUST set the edge, this series. Shut down those sweeps.
Thought I saw a block in the back also
Another block in the back no call.
…..Chark will drop deep. Marshall to punt, taken at the 21, and tripped at the 28 by Jamel Dean.
LSU crowd now re-engergized and getting loud
…..3rd and 4. Double twins. Stidham changing his play. Stidham throws late, and nearly picked off on the sideline.
…..2nd and 9. Stidham will give to Pettway, bulls for 5.
…..1st and 10. Dunn is back in at center. Pettway on the give, got just a yard.
…..Here’s the kick by Gamble, two yards deep, and Igbinoghene takes a knee.
Agree on the NO PENALTIES — AU has no need to even thing about resorting to that.
Crap — “another” not “enough” — this phone…
So, ANOTHER, 7, 10, or 14 for AU before the half.
…..I’m thinking 75 yard pounding drive, right here. No holds or false starts, either!
I never had any expectation of holding LSU scoreless but, man, it sure was fun while it lasted!!
Now, we just need enough 7, 10, or 14 before the half
Block in the back on the outside. No call.
…..Both those jet sweeps featured missed tackles in the backfield.
Alright, Shake this off and play the rest of the game tigers.
Dang…..Orgeron gets fired at half time if they dont score on that one
……Here’s Culp, up and good, and with 9:19 left in the half, Auburn still leads, 20-7.
And AU still had a chance to stop him
Wow. Had him.
…..LSU going. Here’s the speed sweep, Sullivan scores.
One more time.
…..Atkinson stopped a dive over the top!
Do it again.
……3rd and goal again. Guice, stuffed!
Settle down, defense.
…..Holland lined up offside.
…..It’s going to be offsides.
…..3rd and goal. From the one. Jumbo ace, flag, and stopped!
Damn, had him in the backfield
AU was the only team in the country that hadn’t let up a 30+ yard run….
Should have had the tackle for loss on that one
…..2nd and goal. Here’s loaded left. Sweep, Dillon, stuck at the 2.
Or, sitting in 90 degree weather seeing your team all-of-a-sudden not being able to freaking tackle.
…..First and goal, Guice is stood up, at the six.
Unacceptable. A good start, but we can’t take the foot off the gas.
…..New set of downs. Give on the sweep, and the last man, Roberts, gets him down at the 7. Wow.
…..McBryde finally got him down.
You know what would suck?
Sitting in the 90 degree sun watching your team lose 20-0 in the 2nd qtr
…..LSU at the ten. Ace formation. Motion.. give Guice, he’ll slice through for 13.
…..Block in the back, half the distance.
…..Here’s Carlson, kicking another one, returnable. LSU has it out to the 36, but a flag.
…..Checking the O’Henry’s coffee scoreboard, Vanderbilt has scored twice, and leads Ole Miss 14-7.
Nice little hook on that one to being it within the uprights! SO nice to know AU has that weapon on board with a sibling to follow
…..With 12:50 left in the half, Auburn leads, 20-0!
….From 48 is Carlson. This boot is up, and gooooooood!
That just looked bad from the beginning
…..I think they had a screen called, and KJ was covered.
…..3rd and long. Dropping, throws it away.
……I don’t mind how the iphone puts 3 suggested words below the text box, but I don’t like it filling anything in for me automatically!
This stupid phone has to be the worst!!
…..I hate auto-complete!
“clock” – not “close” —
…..Again, protect the ball. Get three more points.
No, would have been delay of game — I honestly thought the close was at zero prior to the timeout.
…..Auburn calls time, with 13:01 left in the half, leading 17-0.
……3rd and 20. In the gun. Stidham changing his play. And whew! I though that was another false start!
Auburn cannot afford those — And not needed anyway
Beep, beep, beep.
….Darius James on the false start. Has a hold today, too.
…..3rd and long. Twins each side, and a flag.
Just a less than good throw
…..Hastings had a step.
…..Drive killer? 2nd and 15. Fake, will go deep, overthrown for Hastings.
…..Substitution on AUburn, too many men.
KJ is on a mission today.
…..Give KJ up the gut, nothing doing.
…..2nd and 8 at the LSU 37. Give to KJ, will break away, inside the 20!
That wasn’t “too cute”, was it?
…..Keeper wildcat, and Kerryon has about 2.
Col, I’m with you — This one has a chance to get “good” ugly and I want that SO bad.
I think they are going more to the wildcat (1) because of the Dunn injury and (2) LSU isn’t sure what AU can/will do when in that set and (3) it is effective, if for no other reason, than to pull LSU into loading the box and, then, BAM –
Pardon the obvious pun, but I hope it’s almost like a cat (Tiger) playing with a toy (other Tiger)
……Trips left. Blitz, fade, Slayton HAS it!
…..I’d not get too cute here on 3rd and 9. A punt is better than getting Stidham hit.
…..LSU has 12 rushing yards on 7 carries.
….First quarter box score, Stidham is 5 of 7 for 119 yards. Kerryon Johnson has 70 on the ground, thus far.
agree…wildcat means nothing if there is no threat of a pass
…..They are leaving Stidham out there on the wildcat, and LSU is starting to really load the box when they see the wildcat. TIme to pitch the ball back and throw it.
Okay, leave the wildcat alone for a few sets.
……The first quarter will end, and Auburn leads, 17-0!
…..Brings up 3rd and long.
If AU is still on this pace at halftime the LSU AD might crawl out on his knees to meet Les Miles an the field.
…..2nd and 9. Diamond set, KJ keeps, nothing doing.
…..New set of downs. Give to KJ, will get ROCKED, only one.
…..2nd and 10, Wildcat. Diamond set. Keeper, big hole! He’s got 13 yards!
Not sure of any “official” word but looks like Dunn may be able to continue at some point. He’s moving on the sideline —
We do want it all
…..A 44 yard punt, and Auburn has it at the 23. Two backs.Stidham will overthrow Stove.
And that fooled no one on the AU defensive front — Only a couple of sections of boos
…..Boo birds are out in Baton Rouge.
…..3rd and 4. Shotgun. Here’s a shovel pass, nothing doing! Davis and Ruffin…
…..2nd and 15. Here goes Williams, has 11 yards.
……1st and 10, one back set. Motion, rolls, and he’s put down by Holland!
…..Carlson with his 4th touchback of the day.
…..That screen pass was wonderful. LSU sent the house on 3rd and 14, and got burned.
Stovall still got it down but Carlson is so automatic
…..Bobbled snap, and Auburn was fortunate that the LSU rushers had their hands on their hips.
KJ could also have handed that off and it still would have gone for the score.
……Carlson is up and good once again, and with 3:30 left in the first quarter, Auburn has a huge 17-0 lead!
This play calling has looked fantastic. It has been a LONG LONG time since I have said that during an AU football game boys.
….FIrst and goal, huddle, twins right. Wildcat, and KJ is close, INNNNNNNN!
….Blitz, and a tunnel screen behind it.
…..3rd and 14. Here is Stidham, screen to Davis, has room, they can’t get him till he’s all the way to the 3!!!!
…..Here’s double twins. Fake, flushed, will fall down for a two yard loss.
And that hold was not even necessary for the play to have that gain. Just got spun around and he didn’t release…
…..2nd and 12 at the Auburn 45, and Pettway checks in?
…..Dunn exits, limping. Harrell will play left guard.
…..I’d guess that Wilson Bell would get the call at left guard.
…..Golson will move back to center, and who’ll play left guard?
…..Holding on Darius James. And, Casey Dunn is down.
…..2nd and 2, KJ on the give, and he’s turning the corner, but a flag.
…..Wildcat. KJ up the gut, and he’s got 9!
…..LSU is in a bit of a pickle. They blitzed earlier, and got burned over the top. Now they are dropping 2 safeties deep, and Auburn has the numbers advantage at the point of attack. And, running the ball plays into AUburn’s hand. Arden Key is not nearly as good a run stopper as he is a pass rusher.
……1st and 10. And Auburn calls time, with 5:57 left in the first quarter. Tigers lead, 10-0.
….LSU only playing 6 in the box, and Auburn is taking advantage.
…..2nd and 4. Double twins. Here’s a give to KJ, has the first down.
…..Four wides. Stidham will give to KJ, will bounce out to the 42.
….No flag, new set of downs.
…..2nd and 3. Pistol set. Stidham will change the play. Takes, and keeps, will swing to Hastings, will get hit out of bounds at the 36.
…..The bottle, and some AC. Wildcat, for Kerryon. Diamond set. Fake, will hurdle for about seven.
Had to be something wrong with their offensive set —
And, yes, AU needs to seriously hit the gas pedal every chance offered —
…..Ole Miss has an early 7-0 lead on Vanderbilt, playing in Oxford.
Points here and you might see the stadium start to empty in the first quarter. I’m sure most are half lit already and the rest of the bottle at the tailgate might look more appealing.
…..On replay, the LSU line didn’t even block Coe. Lack of communication, looked like.
…..Michigan holds off Indiana, and wins in overtime, 27-20.
….Spot that ball at the 19?
…..Here’s a punt, short, rolls down to the 17.
No cut will help there…
….Nick Coe just blew through, and no chance!
…..3rd and short. Under center. Jumbo set, mixup, and Guice is dumped for a loss!
That was an NFL cut by Guice.
…..2nd and 6. Wholesale substitution. Trips right, give to Guice, will cut back, and Auburn can’t get him down till he’s nearly at the stake.
…..New set of downs at the LSU 41. Here’s a pitch to Guice, slices for 4.
…..3rd and 8. Etling will take, fires on the out, Dillard has it, first down.
…..2nd and 8. Etling will be in the gun. He’ll drop, will overthrow Chark. Well covered by Matthews.
…..1st and 10 LSU. Here is a give to Guice, will spin for about 2.
…..Kicked all the way out of the end zone.
And that’s how turnovers lead to losses — Great that AU took advantage!
…..Carlson will boot it deep, and yet another touchback.
I think this LSU team is in much the same emotional state as MSU when we played them. They need something good to happen, and with a little momentum they could come alive. But if AU punches them hard in the mouth early (like we are well on our way to doing) the team and the fans will quit.
…..Meechigan gets a TD in overtime. Can Indiana keep up, in Bloomington?
…..That was Hastings against a true freshman safety, double move, just like a couple of weeks ago.
…..Carlson is up and good, and Auburn has taken a 10-0 lead, with 11:31 left in the first quarter!
Will Hastings is quickly becoming one of my favorite AU players/stories of all time.
…..2nd and 7 Auburn. Dropping, will fire deep, and HASTINGS IS GONE!
…..Motion in for Auburn. KJ will bull for 3.
…..It’s a final, on a last-second field goal. Boston College 45, Louisville 42.
Should not have given up that big play but the overall outcome didn’t turn out bad.
Just bad coverage downfield on that.
…..Roberts stripped the ball, and Carton Davis picked it up, and returned it to the Auburn 48.
…..CHark was WIDE open on a coverage bust by Carlton Davis and Stephen Roberts, but the ball took a LONG time to get there.
……Auburn at their 48!
….Auburn HAS it!
……3rd and 10 LSU. Etling to throw, and he’ll unload, Chark has it, LOST THE BALL!
On KD: Yes which makes me think either discipline issue or his mom’s health is bad again. Either way is not good news.
…..2nd and 10. Give to Williams, nothing there!
…..The receiver wasn’t ready, and it hit Atkinson in the back!
…..LSU will shift ’em around. Rolling out, will throw incomplete!
…..Not sure about Kyle. He wasn’t on any of the injury lists.
…..Carlson to kick it off, and this one is five yards deep, touchback.
…..Michigan and Indiana are going to overtime, tied at 20.
Might have missed it if discussed, but any ideas on KD not making the trip?
…..I liked the 3rd down call, if not the result. You get inside the opponent’s 30, you need to throw for the end zone.
…..With 13:07 left in the first, Auburn takes a 3-0 lead over LSU.
…..Carlson from 47, it is up, and good!
…..Pretty good coverage. Still, you have to catch that!
….3rd and 6, possession play. Two backs. time, will go deep, Stove dropped it.
……2nd and 9. Changing the play. Will give to KJ, for about 3.
…..Check that, only a yard.
….Trips left. Will dump to KJ, he’ll have the first down.
…..That will move it all the way to the LSU 33.
…..Hit out of bounds, too!
…..2nd and 2. KJ has room, and tiptoes down the sideline!
…..Tigers will start at the 25. Here’s a power set. Fake, will be one-handed by Cannella!
I will go quiet now — I won’t post as I’m ahead of the TV and radio
…..And we are under way! Gamble boots it, way back. Touchback.
Thanks — I missed the coin toss — Had to take care of some “business” and then get a refill. And, man, a lot of smoke for that little bit of fireworks! We somehow ended up in the Club level located in the East-most side of the South end zone.
So, Auburn needs to take this first possession and make something work and get points!
…..Noah Igbinoghene and Kam Martin deep.
…..Missing players for Auburn include Tre’ Williams, Mike Horton, and Kyle Davis. Not sure about that last one…
…..Correct on Louisville. And they have the ball back in a tie game.
…..Coin toss, is won.by LSU, and they defer.
Yes – they had a few – similar to what AU does.
Looks like Louisville has now come back and tied up the game vs BC.
…..Sounds like fireworks.
…..Seven minutes from the kick.
We were talking with a guy getting onto the bus this morning. He and (I guess) his wife were all decked out in LSU attire and he said “Tiger Bait” to me and then followed that up with “but I’m afraid we may be the bait today.” — Would like for him to be correct.
….I was glancing over at Indiana. They have cut the Michigan lead to 20-17, with a little over 3 minutes left.
Correct — but people still coming in. Guess they tailgate just as long as they can! They don’t have the benefit of the night game.
yes, they are loud – fans outside the stadium, however, seemed less engaged – at least at that point in time.
…..Looks like a fair amount of empty seats, at least during warmups.
42-35 BC over Louisville – just over 7 minutes left in game
…..I can hear the LSU band on the radio.
…..That aTm/UF game will come down to whether either offensive line can get anything done. If not, it will be low-scoring.
Miami and their defense has been suspect – Not sure they can handle the triple option that Paul Johnson will present to them.
Also, aTm and FL may be an interesting game as well.
…..I’m leaning towards Georgia Tech. They regularly rose up and beat Mark Richt teams, when he was at Georgia.
…..Malzahn says that Auburn HAS to run the football, and protect the quarterback.
Acid – who do you have in the GaTech/Miami game?
….Final from Starkville, MSU 35, BYU 10. Good win for the SEC.
…..Switched over to CBS. They are showing Malzahn in an obviously pre-recorded interview. Stands are empty.
Alright, TET, I will try to chime in if/when I can but things getting ramped up here.
As always, It’s Great to be an Auburn Tiger and;
WAR EAGLE — Let’s DO this!
…..I liked the slant. The rollout against the blitz didn’t work so well.
…..Boston College leads Louisville 42-28. Lamar Jackson is not playing like a Heisman winner, only 15 of 30 passing, for 271 yards.
Play calling following the PI was iffy at best; or execution was pitiful. UT had their chance but just could not capitalize.
…..3rd and goal. Rolls, thrown, incomplete! Carolina wins, 15-9.
Okay – I stand corrected – that wasn’t the last play
….Slant, incomplete, with one second remaining.
Not sure I care who wins this one – Don’t particularly like either and a win by either doesn’t help AU
…..And now USCe calls time.
So, one play left
…..Weirdly, they have yet to start the play clock. A virtual timeout for UT.
My stream finally caught up — Clock doing UT no favors right now. They got the flag but that doesn’t put time back on the clock.
…..Nearly a sack, threw it away with 4 seconds left.
….Nine seconds remain in Knoxville, USCe leading 15-9. Tennessee has first and goal at the two.
…..Fade, mugged in the corner of the end zone, and a flag.
Wow – getting really interesting in KnoxVegas
….Vols moving it. Slant to the 5, but they can’t call time. 22 seconds left.
…..I’d expect a similar score. The home field will help Georgia, but I don’t think they are as good on offense. Missouri might not score, on that bunch.
…..Loose ball in Knoxville, but it was after the receiver was down. UT will have it at the USCe 42, needing a touchdown. 41 seconds remain.
I had not seen that but we haven’t seen Horton at all since here. That “blind-side” protection is critical –
As for Tre’, I heard yesterday that he wouldn’t be playing. I honestly haven’t been looking but don’t recall seeing him; even in street clothes.
Acid, question for you — Does UGA beat Mizzou in Athens worse than AU beat MIzzou in Columbia?
…..Also, middle linebacker Tre’ WIlliams is not dressed out, either.
….Austin Golson will get his first start at left guard. That side of the line certainly bears watching.
…..Word is that left guard Mike Horton did not make the trip to Baton Rouge. That means Prince Tega Wanagho has the job of trying to block Arden Key…
…..I think it is. USCe kicks the field goal, and extends the lead to 15-9. Tennessee has 1:13 left, and no timeouts.
And, just as I ask, they show them on TV – so, never mind, it is him…
I can barely hear even with earbuds but is that Tubs doing commentary for the UT/USCe?
….That BC-Louisville score is correct. About 14:55 remaining in that one.
…..Stopped for nothing. Tennessee is still alive, for one more play, at least.
….South Carolina calls time, with 2:01 remaining. They have 3rd and 5 in the Tennessee red zone, and UT is out of timeouts. A first down will end this game.
Video board here showing Boston College up 35-21 over Louisville just starting the 4th.
….South Carolina just lining up and bashing. They have another first down, and UT calls their second timeout, with 2:49 left in the ball game. Will Butch Jones survive the weekend?
….MSU up 35-10 over BYU, midway through the 4th.
…..Tennessee takes their first timeout, under 3 minutes.
Trying to keep up/watch as much of the UT/USCe game as I can before kickoff for AU/LSU
….South Carolina has dominated the second half. They now lead Tennessee 12-9, and are trying to run the clock down, with under 3 minutes left.
UT and USCe tied at 9, at the end of the 3rd.
…..Mississippi State is having little trouble with BYU, leading 28-3 late in the 3rd quarter.
…..South Carolina has tied Tennessee in Knoxville, 9-all. The Gamecocks went for two, oddly enough, and threw incomplete.
Yep – we checked in at home – everything okay there – but son says 73ish and party cloudy.
…..What a difference 250 miles makes! We have cloudy and 73 here in the Tragic City.
Was just announced that 4* DT Coynis Miller has committed to Auburn —
And we are in the stadium – Quite warm here in Baton Rouge – close to 90 with sun.
Compared to some other SEC stadiums, visitor seating here isn’t bad.
…..Halftime in both SEC games. As expected, Mississippi State leads Brigham Young, 21-3. Tennessee leads South Carolina 9-3. South Carolina put up 48 points on Arkansas last week…
…..Second quarter SEC action. MSU leads in Starkville against Brigham Young, 14-0. Tennessee leads South Carolina 6-3 in a field-goal fest.
…..Some early SEC scores. Mississippi State is up on BYU, 7-0. And Tennessee has scrambled down for an early 3-0 lead over South Carolina, in Knoxville.
…..It was mentioned earlier in the comments that Number 8 Washington State lost to Cal, last night. Lost is an understatement! They got WAXED, 37-3! When is the last time we’ve seen a Mike Leach quarterback throw 5 picks and no TD’s?
This game is going to be good. Something feels right today. LSU will get thumped.
…..And we are live! It is shaping up to be a fun day of football, and War Eagle!
About Acid Reign:.....Still making noise after all these years! Lifetime slacker, dreamer, and miscreant with a knack for calculation. I was born in the United State of Texas, but have spent the majority of my years here amongst the shaded hills of the Tragic City, enjoying glorious smog-enhanced sunsets. In a troubled county, I live in a little slice of paradise between the ridges of Red and Shades Mountains. I've been an obsessive Auburn football follower since the Punt-Bama-Punt days, and have seen a lot of great football on the Plains. This lazy shirker finally learned the value of hard work and persistence from the fine folks in Auburn, and enjoys his return visits immensely! Hobbies include guitar-playing (or really just making loud and weird noise on any sort of instrument or object), cooking, computers, tennis, and old-school pen and paper RPGs. I love getting together with a good drink, great family, and friends..... (Acid Reign is Track ’Em Tigers’ Senior Editor). View Profile →
