UGA Hires Tracy Rocker

By on January 27th, 2014 in Member Post 12 Comments »

UGA made a move in the right direction by hiring former Auburn player and coach, Tracy Rocker.

Members can read more about Rocker joining the Bulldog staff at this link.

Will the back to back hires of Rocker and Jeremy Pruitt get UGA to the top of the SEC East?

It hurts my heart to hear him say, “Go Dawgs!”…….

I feel your pain! The only way it could have been worse would be if he had taken a job with the updykes.

Very happy for the Rock. It’s a very solid coaching move for Georgia. Hopefully he is successful in every game but one.

Rock will have his D line ready to play each and every ballgame. I’m sure coach Crimes looks forward to the challenge.

Funny how Richt cried about Nick Fairley’s man eating play against them and then go out and hire the guy who developed Nick into the fearsome Defensive Tackle that he was.

    • Third Generation Tiger Third Generation Tiger says:

I never have liked Richt. I don’t understand why more people can’t see through his obvious B.S.

You’re preachin’ to the choir, dude.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that the Rock had a job, BUT if Chizik didn’t mishandle things the way that he did, there’s no doubt that he would still be in Auburn…..

I still like Chiz. I bet he learned some hard lessons in 2012 about staff and player management. It would be nice to see the man get one more shot as a head coach.

…..Georgia gets a lot of defenders back, and Pruitt should run a similar scheme to the departed Grantham’s. Georgia’s D-line was a little undersized last season, for a 3-4 team. I’d not be surprised if UGA doesn’t try to provide Rocker with JUCO help right away.

Isn’t it though. Can’t beat them… join them mentality. Surprising for Richt.. current dean of SEC football.

Ugh…Georgia has made some solid hires this offseason :-(

Good luck Rocker! You are an Auburn legend and were instrumental in the 2010 NC year! Still, I think Garner is a better D-line coach for Gus’ system because he rotates so many D-linemen throughout the game. You can’t depend on once-in-a-generation D-linemen like Fairly being available, and Auburn need’s a deep D-line (especially running the HUNH) to hammer the opponent the entire game and be fresh to shut ‘em down in the 4th.

    Whoa, whoa, wth.

I’m confused. He was at AU in 2009-2010 as D-line coach. He went to Titans as the same. I lost track. So your saying he went to UgA in the same capacity? Hmm. Surprised. He is a great recruiter. He would absolutely be a great hire. Why isn’t he a DC?
