Trouble in T-Town…

By on February 12th, 2013 in Member Post 7 Comments »

It’s being reported on ESPN that four bama freshmen were arrested recently:

Eddie Williams - arrested for carrying a pistol without a license. Additionally he was charged with second degree robery.

Defensive end D.J. Pettway second-degree robbery.

Linebackers Tyler Hayes second-degree robbery and Brent Calloway second-degree robbery.

Are you thinking what I am thinking?  Where to start…

This phenomena must be a National Championship thing. Huh? I guess bama fans will come up with some other excuse.

I can’t imagine a form of discipline to cover this.  Do you think Saban will cut them or “rehabillitate”?

One player’s actions can’t hurt you.  I wonder about four? Does this disrupt the pipeline?

Does this disrupt the pipeline? No. There will be no feeding frenzy generated by the state of Alabama’s so called unbiased media.

…..TV news was all over this a few minutes ago. According to Mike Raita on ABC 33/40, Saban has indefinitely suspended eleven guys since he took over at Bama. None of those ever played a snap again. It’s a sad deal. Much like our situation a couple of years ago, four guys threw away a lifetime of opportunity. There are no winners in this type of deal.

Unfortunately this is just a sad sign of the times. Most of the kids that are getting athletic sholarships wouldn’t begin to qualify academically as a general enrollee and among those, several have such serious character flaws, they don’t belong anywhere near a college or university. That being said, it is a GOOD thing that these young men are afforded the opportunity to use their talent to better themselves by achieving a college education. Sadly many still can’t handle that chance or don’t see it as the golden ticket that it is. These guys really just ruined their lives and the lives of whatever children they have or might have.

These young men will find themselves in Sabans dustbin sometime today…..and I won’t blame Saban for that. You know what you are getting when you sign on with Saban, you either excell and meet his needs or you are cast aside. There are no second chances when 4* and 5* athletes are 3 or more deep at every position. Such a waste.

Assault and battery may also be charges that are added. Didn’t they knock out a real student?

Yeah. You are right on Eddie Williams. I think he had both.

Heard the other day that they are suspended indefinitely.
