“There is No Better Time a Dad Can Invest”—Gene Chizik

By on June 16th, 2017 in Football, Memories, News 3 Comments »

In February former Auburn head coach Gene Chizik chose to step away from the only life he’s ever known, being a football coach. As the defensive coordinator at North Carolina, he had just helped land a great recruiting class, and the news caught Tar Hill fans by surprise.

After being a long-distance dad for two years, Chizik made a decision to leave football to be able to spend time with his three kids. This weekend he shared his thoughts about the importance of being a dad to Track ‘Em Tigers partner, USA TODAY. It makes for a great Father’s Day read.

“One thing is certain as we celebrate Father’s Day,” said Gene. “Not one of us will ever regret a single moment spent with our children. One-on-one time with our kids means the world to them … [And] there is no better time a dad can invest.”

We recommend our readers check out his full article at USA TODAY Sports.

Good read. I was reluctant to get on the fire Chizik wagon until the very end, in part because I thought he was a very good man. This piece only solidifies that thinking for me.

Thanks for posting. I always like Coach Chizik and was sad to see how his time at Auburn ended But there’s no doubt he’s a good man and this is a great father’s day read.

I echo the above statements about ex-CGC. I wrote a post the week he was let go about keeping him. Glad he still has his priorities straight.

WDE and Happy Father’s Day to all you dad’s out in this great Orange and Blue country!
