Spank the Pups!

It’s Senior Day at Auburn!
(Auburn Tigers vs. Alabama A&M Bulldogs open thread.)

War Eagle, everybody! It’s the last home game of the year for the Tigers! This one will kick off at 1:00 PM, an almost forgotten traditional game time. The game will be televised on pay per view only, although those folks outside the southeast might be able to catch the game on ESPN-3. The weather for this one should be fantastic. The temperature should be in the low 60s at kickoff, with plenty of sun streaming over the south end zone jumbotron. As the sun sinks in the 4th quarter, the mercury should fall into the 50s, and fans will be treated to a sliver of a crescent moon over the western skies.

For those attending the game, make sure and enjoy the Alabama A&M band. They are known as “The Showband of the South,” and with good reason! The Marching Maroon and White will put on a performance everyone should enjoy!

This is one last fun football Saturday in the fall, where we’ll strap it up, and enjoy an idylic day and Auburn victory! I plan to enjoy it to the fullest, and I suggest that everyone else do that as well! Then, we focus on Bama, and the seemingly impossible task of pulling the upset of the millenium! War Eagle, and let’s beat those Bulldogs!

Congratulations to the seniors. You will always be Auburn men and always remember:

IT’S GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER !!!

    WAR EAGLE !!!

    GO BIG BLUE !!!

I own a couple of businesses close to A&M and know a lot of the ball players. They are on a pretty good high this year with some tough losses lately. Their kicker Wilson went to the local high school and is very well liked around these parts.
That being said, I guarantee they won’t lay down and could give AU a good game. Better bring your helmets men.
BTW, I should alert any attending the game to watch out for 5 fiftyish women decked out in every manner of Auburn gear you can imagine. They will be easy to spot. They will be the loudest bunch there. Estimated 4.0 on the Richter scale. How do I know?…Mrs. Myauburn is among them.
My advice….just keep your distance and enjoy the show.

War Eagle and happy game day!

I’ll be listening to the Tigers through my iPhone. Hoping for a good game so those seniors can head out of Jordan Hare proud. Go get ‘em!

Another note to those attending. If they make the trip be sure to watch the performance of the Bulloptuous Bulldogs. It is a dance team with the A&M band. They tip the scales roughly the same as the A&M offensive line. It is quite a large show…pun intended.

…..One last update, before I head out. Jake Holland will start at middle linebacker. Jonathan Wallace will get his third career start, against the Bulldogs. War Eagle, and smash these guys!

    WAR EAGLE!

I love the start but it is hard to get fired up over this

    • MyAuburn myauburn says:

Agreed, hard to tell if we are playing harder or is A&M that overmatched.

    • tigertracker says:

Agreed. However it speaks to how well we MIGHT do if we weren’t shooting ourselves in the foot with turnovers, penalties, sacks, negative plays, and poor play calling. Yes, bama will be a totally different atmosphere and physicality, but just glad to see we are at least executing the game plan most fans have been clamoring for all year. Leave prosch in and mash with a handful of short passes off play action or quick drops. Executing CONSISTENTLY is the first step in recovery regardless of level of competition.

  7. MyAuburn myauburn says:

Mrs. Myauburn reports from JH that the game started with lots of empty seats and even more now. Temps falling and fans headed for warmth for the body and the stomach.

  8. MyAuburn myauburn says:

Penalties and more penalties. Good thing we are playing A&M. We have much more penalty yardage than A&M

  9. MyAuburn myauburn says:

    ANOTHER holding penalty

  10. Tiger on the mountain Tiger on the mountain says:

The penalties are disturbing. Glad they finally pulled Wallace. I was worried he was being left in too long.

  11. MyAuburn myauburn says:

51-7 is a good way for the Seniors to remember JH. Now, how great a memory would the upset of the century be next week.

  12. mikeautiger says:

This was how I expected to see the team perform all year…. I believe in miracles, punt bama punt. With bama not known for their pass rush maybe Wallace can have a big day…remember Tray Mason his freshman year.

    • Col.Angus Col.Angus says:

I think you mean Tre Smith. When he ran wild on Bama after Carnell and Ronnie were hurt. This team needs a few Tre’s and Kodi Burns, when you can beat a team like this it shows that you have the talent…. What we are missing is heart.

Looks like it’s up to AU to stop UAT on their quest to cover the world with darkness once again . . . thanks Kansas St and Oregon.

    • Col.Angus Col.Angus says:

This is why there are SIX sec teams in the top 10…..SEC Teams in the title hunt don’t lose to unranked teams.

I am also sick of talking heads like Musberger and Herbstreet complain about the SEC scheduling and not playing a nine game conference schedule….as if the big 10, big 12 and pac10 conferences even come close to matching up with the sec top to bottom. When all the conferences get a title game and approach the batten death march that is an SEC schedule, they can quit complaining until they can keep the SEC out of the title game.

      • mvhcpa says:

I was about to say after the last few weeks that it looked like it was going to be like the “good old days” when everyone beat everyone in the SEC and someone like ND or a B1G team would waltz undefeated into a MNC–but it looks like EVERYONE put themselves in that boat by this week’s action!

        Michael Val
(who really wishes we would go back to the old, old system where we KNEW that the SEC champion was the best team in the nation, regardless of record, without a BCS to give any legitimacy whatsoever to the MNC!)
