Robenson Therezie Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week

therezie-300x239.jpeg.pagespeed.ce.-E4VH37LOg - Robinson Therezie INTRobenson Therezie was definitely the Defensive MVP of Auburn’s 31-24 win over Washington State Saturday night. Word came today he also was the SEC Defensive Player of the Week for the South Eastern Conference.

All he did to garner the SEC honor was make a career-best seven tackles, have a pass break up, and haul in two of the three pass interceptions in Saturday’s opener against Washington State. It was a feat that hasn’t been matched since Josh Bynes intercepted two in the 2010 National Championship season.

He saved the game with his second interception as he robbed WSU’s Connor Halliday in the end zone with four minutes and forty six seconds to go in the game. And his first interception set up Auburn’s first touchdown of the game.

It was the first SEC Defensive Player of the Week Award for an Auburn defense since Corey Lemonier was recognized Oct 17, 2011 against Florida.

Pretty good night especially for a guy that wasn’t scheduled to start before the season and got his chance only after Justin Garrett went down with an ankle injury.

Congrats Robenson and War Eagle!

Justin Garrett may now have to be the backup when he gets well. Robinson played a hell of a game.

It sure would be nice if we could get Garrett AND Therezie on the field at the same time!

  2. Malakai Malakai says:

Congrats to Therezie he deserved it. He saved our back a few times and played a heck of a game. But my star of the game has to go to Montravios Adams. I love this kid! He was advertised as a top defense lineman and didn’t disappoint. For one, for AU it’s nice to get a player that’s as talented as advertised. Man this kid is gonna be a beast as a senior! If he doesn’t leave for the NFL junior season..
