Not A Rumor Anymore – Corey Grant Transfers To Auburn

By on June 26th, 2011 in Football Comments Off

It had been rumored for the last two weeks that former Opelika High School standoutCorey Grant would transfer from Alabama to Auburn. Well its not a rumor anymore. The (2010) No. 5 All-Purpose back in the nation confirmed today that he would become a Tiger.

Grant said he didn’t leave Tuscaloosa with any hard feelings; he just likes Auburn better and feels like Auburn would be a better fit for him.

He took a redshirt last year at Alabama and will have to sit out a year. He plans to enroll in school on Monday and walk on at Auburn.

Grant is the second top rated back to transfer from an SEC school in recent days. Mike Blakely transferred from Florida last month.

There has not been a news release yet from Auburn. However, Nick Saban said on June 9th, “Corey Grant is a fine young man that we really wanted to stay in our program,”

Whatever the reason Corey, welcome to the Plains.
