Nick Marshall’s the SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Auburn Texas A&M

For the fourth time, including the third straight week, an Auburn Tiger has garnered South Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors. Quarterback Nick Marshall was recognized today as the Offensive Player of the Week for his big performance in leading the Tigers to a 45-41 victory over No.6 Texas A&M.

Robenson Therezie was name the SEC Defensive Player of the Week after the Washington State game. And the last two weeks saw Defensive End Carl Lawson and then back up Quarterback Jeremy Johnson be named the SEC’s Freshman of the Week.

It was a signature day for Marshall as he became only the second Auburn QB in history to throw for two touchdowns and run for two scores. And oh, that other quarterback … He now plays for the Carolina Panthers.

Nick had a 100 yard rushing day and threw for 236 yards, while leading the Tigers in another late game theactrics in the Tigers’ second come from behind victory this year.

Offensive Coordinator Rhett Lashlee said he was proud of his signal caller and pointed out that Marshall thrives under pressure, remaining calm when the games on the line. “He knows how to win and whether it’s throwing for over 300 against Mississippi State, or against Ole Miss and A&M doing more with his feet, he’s not rattled.”

Having a quarterback that doesn’t get rattled and can lead his team in the toughest of situations is just what the Tigers will need as they move through the rest of the SEC West schedule … especially come Amen Corner.

Congratulations Nick and War Eagle!

To accomplish something that only Cam Newton has done before really says something about our QB. Congratulations to Nick!

…..Once he gets his footwork down, he’ll be scary. He does know where to go with the ball, which many quarterbacks never get.

That is excellent news about both the award AND the performance.

I may have to retract my opinion that Nick is not “the man” this year. I used the gauge that someone else posted around here that Nick needed to “get it” by game three. LSU showed he did not have “it” by that time. He had “it” and a whole lot more Saturday.

I think the coaches need to let Nick do all passing against FAU, like they might have done against WCU, and that might tell whether he has kept “it” and will throw “it” right down the throats of EVERY OTHER TEAM WE FACE THIS YEAR!!!!!
