National Signing Day 2018—Part Deux—Summary

National Signing Day 2018—Part Deux is in the books.

The composite class rankings have Auburn coming in at Number 12 in the NCAA and Number 3 behind Georgia and Alabama in the SEC.

Minus signing one or two more offensive linemen, however, this is an overall good group of recruits. And it may have been the most ever four star recruits (16) to fill out an Auburn recruiting class. Auburn Head Football Coach Guz Malzahn waxed poetic about those that signed today as well as those that signed during the early signing period. To be sure, additional depth was added. And, some of these guys have exceptional speed and size.

Hopefully, Auburn will go after O-line and D-line recruits sooner instead of later for the 2019 signing class. To me, these guys in the trenches don’t get the glamour that skill position players receive, so they are more likely to sign early. Now, to be honest, that is just this writer’s opinion and nothing more.

We learned today—or at least I did—that Jarrett Stidham will miss the first two weeks of spring practice due to shoulder surgery, so Malik Willis and Joey Gatewood will both get some needed reps at quarterback with both the first and second teams. I mention this due to the Gatewood signing and early enrollment.

Many thanks from TET to Zach Taylor (@best5zach) for managing the thread and for his help compiling the signing day info below.

A huge shout out also to our great commenters in keeping the thread going today even though I’m sure it seemed to crawl due to the lack of excitement caused by the early signing period.

As always,

War Eagle!

I agree ATL, this is an excellent class. Thanks for all you guys did today to bring us outstanding coverage. Appreciate you guys… War Eagle!

An overall good class. Thre's no doubt the strength of this class is on the defensive line and the weakness is on the O-Line. But Gus can probably bring in some Juco or graduate transfers in the off season to improve that. Thanks Atl_AU_Fan for another good article.

Thanks ATL for three days of successful coverage of Auburn NSD… great job!
