Monday Night Title Games

By on January 12th, 2016 in Member Post 4 Comments »

Four teams, eight teams, sixty four…..who cares.  Why can’t we figure out how to do the title game on something other than a Monday night?  Holidays are over and mere mortals have to work Tuesday morning.  I dozed through the on-side kick, and I feel like garbage that I missed most of the 2nd half.  Saturday seems like a good day to me…….

…..I did manage to stay away till Kenyon Drake put Bama up two touchdowns mid-way through the 4th. I figured then, that there was no way Bama was giving up a double digit lead. Next thing I knew, my computer was in sleep mode and it was 2:30 AM. I had conked out in my chair. ESPN Sportcenter was still blaring endlessly from the TV…

Yep, when I do that, my wife sees it as an opportunity to go to bed without (her claims of) me snoring. I seem to get left on the couch more and more as I get older.

……I feel like adults shouldn’t monitor each other’s bedtimes, unless things become disruptive. You know, primary bread-winner can’t get up in the morning for their job, finances in danger, that sort of thing. I think if one or the other partner wants to tap out early, or stay up late, it’s no big deal. Love and support one another, and all that.

…..Frankly, the worst danger to my marriage in the early days was having a TV in the bedroom. One or the other of us was trying the sleep, and the other had flickering noise going. When that old Goldstar popped and went blank, we didn’t replace it.
