Mangle Mizzou! (Auburn vs. Missouri Open Thread)
The Tigers open SEC play at Faurot Field
(Auburn at Missouri Open Thread)
War Eagle, everybody! Tonight, the Auburn Tigers will take on the Missouri Tigers in Columbia, Missouri. This marks Auburn football’s first ever visit to theShow Me State. Auburn and Missouri have only played twice. Missouri won the 1973 Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas over Auburn by the score of 34–17. Auburn returned the favor in Atlanta, winning the 2013 SEC Title game over Missouri, 59–42. Tonight’s game will be televised on ESPNU, and kickoff is set for 6:30 PM, Central Time.
Auburn is a double-digit favorite in this game, but an SEC road game is usually tough. Today, my biggest worry is the matchup between Auburn’s offensive tackles against some dangerous Missouri defensive ends. It’s pretty simple. If Auburn can protect the quarterback and running backs, Auburn should win easily. If not, another war is on hand.
For those attending this game, weather should be just about perfect. Temps will be in the mid-80′ s at kickoff, falling through the 70’s after sunset. Skies should be clear with a sliver of crescent moon in the sky at sunset. There is no chance of rain.
As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I’ll be on my Thinkpad a little later with my usual play by play. War Eagle, and let’s show those Tigers!
Saw Stidham getting hit an awful lot again. Will this dude ever throw the ball away? Seriously, why scramble for a 0 yd gain when you can just flip it out of bounds and save a shot? Drives me nuts.
…..Interesting week in the SEC. Mizzou was as bad as we thought. Vandy wasn’t all that. Kentucky looked good, but blew it against the luckiest team in the SEC. South Carolina has collapsed. Georgia might be scary. Tennessee is struggling. Florida by all rights should be 0-3. Texas A&M looks like a bad team with some talent, but is one play from being 4-0. LSU tried to right the ship, and survived Syracuse. Arkansas fought to keep away from the West cellar, and lost. MSU got taken down a peg or two. Ole Miss was off this weekend, and were left to peruse former coach Hugh Freeze’s apology note. Bama blasted Vandy off the planet.
…..Nope. Florida escapes again, 28-27.
…..Or field goal. Three seconds left, at the UF 39.
….Oh, my! Kentucky blew the lead! They now trail Florida, 28-27 late. Trying to mount a late TD drive.
….Auburn actually finished with 263 rushing yards, and 482 total yards.
….Kam Martin ripped it up pretty well. However, if they didn’t get Stidham on the blitz, their secondary was “tore-up,” to paraphrase a bit. There is a lot more this offense can do, and I think we actually did pretty well with the emergency line, in neutralizing a pretty decent pass-rush. I don’t think we’ve seen all the tricks this offense can pull out.
I mean, how do you have 5 TDs on only 40ish total yards and a 2.7 ypc average? Zero running room between the tackles.
Pretty clean game. Would have liked to have seen more explosive runs other than the Stove sweeps, but hopefully this OL will continue to gel.
War Eagle! There is hope!
…..It is a final in Columbia. Auburn 51, Missouri 14. War Eagle, y’all!
I really want us to hang 60. And I know that sounds bad….
….In that game, Gus had to take a delay of game to keep from scoring again in the late going.
this handing off to miller every play kind of reminds me of chandler shakespeare in the western carolina game
….Road win with over 50 points, for Auburn, is the question.
…..55-23 over Tennessee in 2013, is Stan and Rod’s trivia answer.
…..Third and one. And the drive goes on. 3:37 remains.
…..2nd and 9. Willis for 7.
…..At the Auburn 29, Malik Willis stumbles and contorts for a yard.
YES! YES! This is great! Lol
…..Jordan Peters with a BIG sack, ends the Mizzou possession!
…..Most Power-5 schools, including Auburn are state-funded. A big student body costs more. Ask Alabama. They have admitted anyone with a pulse, and have a staggering debt, right now. Not the football program of course, but the university does have financial issues to work through.
…..Academically, Missouri is first-rate. I haven’t seen any falling-down-drunk fans, and they were good to us in Atlanta, even in a losing effort. The whole riot issue is getting into politics, which I’d rather avoid on a football forum.
i was more referring to the school in general and how the school can’t stop the shrinkage. they have had to close several buildings already because enrollment is so bad. it’s gotta be darn near impossible to recruit athletes when the 1. the team is terrible, and 2. the school itself has become radioactive.
To be fair, the Mizzou people I know are decent folks. But the school, and the team…nah, not a fan. At all.
…..I can’t throw too many stones at the Mizzou fanbase. I was there against TAMU in 2012, and Jordan Hare was pretty empty, too, in the second half. That’s what happens when a team is that terrible.
…..I’m not really sure, only half watching, on the O-line. I saw Bell false-start. I think Kaleb Kim is snapping it, too. I saw Golson play a little bit at left tackle, earlier.
No, culture, you wouldn’t. It does make for some laughs, though.
seriously, imagine you’re a four-star recruit. would you want to be a member of Mizzou, with this awful attitude, and with this horrid, ever-shrinking fan base?
…..Ian Shannon continues to struggle, punting for only 38 yards. About 8 minutes left in this one, with Auburn leading comfortably, 51-14. We’re pretty far down into the Auburn bench, too.
Acid, can you do a quick list of our current O-line? Thanks.
…..Auburn’s current O-line isn’t very good, giving up a sack to the nose tackle in about 2 seconds.
Would also be great if Kentucky pulls out a win. You can do it, Wildcats!
…..At the Auburn 31. Twins each side. Sacked on the blitz.
…..Malik Willis and the Auburn offense will now have 3rd and 11.
…..3rd and 6 Auburn, and a false start on Wilson Bell.
And if Mizzou enrollment could keep tanking like it is, that would be great, too.
I wouldn’t shed a tear if these Mizzou thugs lost every game this year. Hilarious!
…..Malik Miller on the draw, for only two.
…..Kentucky is leading Florida 24-14, early in the 4th!
…..McCann booted it, Igbinoghene to the 22.
…..So, Mississippi State got dismembered this week by Georgia, 31-3. How worried should Tiger fans be about their visit, next weekend?
….With 12:15 left in the game, Missouri has cut the Auburn lead to 51-14.
…..Lock will throw to a wide-open J’mon Moore, and he has it for a late TD.
…..It takes a while to learn that. Kam Martin was dancing in his limited carries, last year. He’s downhill, this year. Carlson will boot this one out of the end zone.
Willis looks like ha can be electric
But his decision making needs work
He dances to much in the backfield when he should be making positive yardage
Missouri is just bad
…..With 13:24 left in the ballgame, Auburn leads, 51-7!
…..So, I’ve missed a few plays, and Carlson is in for a 54 yarder, and GOOOOOOD!
what an awful team, and now it appears that they are going to be acting like sore losers for a while.
…..2nd and 13 Auburn. When we return…
now they are just acting like jerks. first the roughing the punter, now the facemask on the true freshman backup qb. seriously?
…..New set of downs at the Missouri 35. Willis will keep again, will lose yardage at the 38.
…..Malik Willis in there, runs the zone-road, and has his helmet ripped off by the facemask at midfield!
…..And as I post that, Daniel Thomas comes up with a Mizzou fumble by Crocket! Auburn has it, at the Auburn 44.
….I’ll be posting sporadically, from this point, with Auburn leading 48-7. This one is well into garbage time.
…..Mizzou has a first down at midfield, after several decent runs. Crocket will get a first down.
This is a beat down but I’m still not seeing anything that makes me think we can be successful versus a competent defense
…..Shovel pass for Mizzou, Johnson is out to the 37.
…..Carlson has 11 career field goals over over 50 yards! With 2:25 left in the 3rd, Auburn leads, 48-7.
…..This attempt will be from 51 yards. The boot… GOOOOOD!
…..Daniel Carlson will come in.
…..Stidham will roll, will run! out at the 35, well short.
…..Third and 8 for Stidham. Just don’t take a hit, here?
…..Draw play, Martin will get two.
Still zero running room between the tackles.
…..New set of Auburn downs. Here’s Kam Martin, nothing.
Make it the 31.
….Stidham under center, give to Stove on the sweep, will have a WHOLE lot of room finally down at the Mizzou 38!
….Missouri tried to leap over, which is illegal this year, and Auburn gets 15 and a first down!
Roughing the punter
1st down Aubie
….Ian Shannon to punt, pressure, tipped… and gets a great roll. Goes down to the 22. And Mizzou gets flagged!
…..IN and out, this game. Auburn has gone three and out.
Carmella missed a great pass
Right through his hands
…..3rd and 7. Lock will run the clock down, will pump, and throws near and Auburn man.
Maybe UGA provided some good tape to look at for next week’s game vs. MSU.
….Flea-flicker reverse, and pushed out at the 37. Nice defensive speed.
…..Give to Witter, only a yard, POPPED by D. Williams.
…..Another first down catch against second teamers, at the Auburn 40, J’Mon Moore.
…..2nd and 10 for Missouri, catch by Johnson for a first down at midfield.
So do you think the Mizzou players can come up with some racial/social/political issue to protest about and justify “sitting out” the rest of the season?
That’s what I wanted to see. Mizzou was clearly on the ropes after that fake punt and Auburn got 2 touchdowns in 3 offensive plays after that.
’bout time Stidham got a TD.
…..With 9:21 left in the 3rd, Auburn leads after Carlson’s point, 45-7!
…..GONE, Touchdown AUBURN!
…..Fake for Stidham, goes deep, and Craig Myers is WIDE open down the middle!
…..Ya think Mississippi State got the big head, much? They trail Georgia 31-3, in Athens, at the end of the 3rd.
man… even mizzou’s special teams is giving up now.
…..In comes Fatony. Will kick this time, short, will bounce backwards, to the Auburn 43! ONly 25 yards!
…..3rd and 3 at the 32. Swing pass, dropped by Roundtree, incomplete.
…..Underthrown bomb…. whew. Underthrown. Auburn was beaten, Brossard on that one.
Wow he was toasted.
…..Carlson to kick off again. This boot is deep, and another touchback.
wow, not only did the fake punt fail, but firefox crashed right after that. pretty much says it all.
…..After the fake punt, Firefox crashed. KJ got his fifth TD on the day, and Auburn now leads, 38-7 with 10:35 left in the 3rd.
Willis on the next drive?
i guess the defense gave up after that fake punt.
Even though itsho s absoluty no imagination
why would they fake it on a 4th and 7 on their own 19? that’s asinine.
I wantaTD pass
…..Fatony fakes it, keeps, will go down at 23!
…..Dinson on the nice tackle in the backfield.
Dinson is fantastic
H saw that before h threw it
…..Brings up 3rd and 3. Here’s Lock swing it out, to Johnson, dumped at the 19!
…..2nd and 6. Crockett, picks his way for 3.
…..1st and 10 Missou, from the 16. Trailing 31-7. Crocket gets to the 20.
…..Auburn tries to punt the ball high, sacrifing distance to keep returns down.
I think it worth giving Carlson a shot
…..Fair catch at the 16, after a 40 yard punt.
Ummm the punting is not good
…..Ian Shannon will come in to punt.
…..Two yards short. Never, never take off on 3rd and plus ten, Jarrett!
….3rd and long. Stidham will have time. Will run, fights to the 44. OUch.
This is annoying
We need to work on throwing downfield
…..At the Auburn 33. Make it 2nd and 13. KJ in motion, misses Craig-Myers.
…..2nd and 15, now.
….Kyle Davis with the hold.
…..2nd and 5. Fires to Stove, will score, but a flag.
…..New set of downs. Fires to Craig-Myers, to the 40.
…..3rd and 6, possession play at the 29. Screen to Davis, will get out to the 35!
…..I’ve missed the start of the 2nd half. 2nd and 6 Auburn. Give to KJ, will stutter, and nothing doing.
…..Wow. More sleepwalking through the cupcakes.
Winless Baylor, who lost to FCS team Liberty, is tied with #3 Oklahoma at the end of the third quarter.
….The MVP for MIssouri thus far is punter Corey Fatony, who has averaged 44.5 yards per punt, with 3 of 4 killed inside the Auburn 20 yard line. Best punter we’ve seen, thus far this year.
…..By comparison, Drew Lock is only 12 of 21, for 87 yards. That’s just 4.1 yards per pass.
…..Kam Martin leads all rushers with 5 carries for 65 yards. Auburn has 14 points off of Mizzou turnovers.
….Stidham has picked up where he left off last week. He’s hit 9 of 11 passes for 147 yards, unofficially.
…..Checking the SEC scoreboard, Georgia now has a 21-3 lead over Mississippi State, early in the 3rd. LSU leads Syracuse 14-3 at the half. Florida and KY are all tied up at 14-all, late in the 3rd.
…..It’s halftime, and Auburn leads MIssouri, 31-7. War Eagle!!!!!!
…..I’m thinking knee. Nine seconds, Stidham in, victory formation, knee.
…..Punt team in. Auburn in punt-safe. Fatony breaks out the 9-iron again, dead at the Auburn 6.
…..3rd and 8, Lock will fire incomplete under the gun, 19 seconds left.
…..Here’s Lock under pressure, will throw the ball out of bounds.
…..2nd and 8 at the Auburn 42.
……Give Witter, got 2, and they finally call their first timeout, with 29 seconds left in the half.
…..at the 42. 2nd and 7. Under a minute, and boo-birds coming out as time is wasted. Lock fires and the receiver goes out at the Auburn 44.
….Give Witter, to the 41.
…..Under 1:30 left in the half. Taking their time. Give to Witter, has room, breaking tackles, out to the 39.
…..Now Rod says they were looking at Stidham’s left shoulder. Give to Witter, only 2, clock runs.
…..Carlson with another touchback, his 5th on 6 kickoffs.
Sitting in the stands
And seeing the receivers runs down field, I can’t fault Stidham on any throw so far other that not leading Hastings in the big bomb
….Radio is saying that Stidham may have injured his throwing hand on that last drive, and is being checked by the medical staff.
Stidham made the right r ad bas d on the coverage
He cut out when he should have cut up field
How did that field goal look? Was it right down the middle, or did it barely sneak its way in?
Good throw by Stidham
Hastings made the wrong cut
…..With 1:45 left in the half, Auburn takes a 31-7 lead.
……Daniel Carlson in. Here’s the boot, from 41. Carlson is up, and GOOD!
…..3rd and long. Stidham with time, will go for Hastings, can’t get to it.
……2nd and 9, clock running, half huddle. Two backs, both backs out. Stidham on the screen, and no blocking. WHAM.
…..At the Mizzou 27. Give Martin up the gut, maybe a yard.
….Will be run down deep in Mizzou territory!
….2nd and 9. Give to Martin on the sweep, he’s lOOOSE!
The home side is already 25 percentempty
…..1st and 10 Auburn at their 25. Here’s a give to Martin, not much up the gut.
Yes we are the only thing loud here
…..Touchback by Tucker McCANN.
…. and Auburn also gets the second half kickoff.
…..On the radio, I can hear the crowd doing the WaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRR, EAGLE! thing on kickoffs.
They are all waiting to go home at halftimes
….The good thing is that Missouri left Auburn enough time to reasonable drive again.
The crowd here at Faurit field is pathetic
…..Kind of a jailbreak screen, caught Auburn in a blitz.
Saw that coming all the way
….TOuchdown, Missouri. Here’s the PAT, and it’s up and good. 4:06 left in the half, and McCann has Mizzou up for 7. Auburn leads, 28-7.
And there goes the shutout.
….2nd and 11. Here’s Lock, changing his play. Will drop, screen to Crockett, and he’ll go all the way.
Richard Mcbryde, career backup, is looking pretty impressive tonight.
….Give to Crockett, lost a yard!
…..3rd and 5. Lock fires, Floyd gets to the 19.
…..2nd and 9. Lock with a screen, to the 29, not sure how to prnounce that name!
They are actually running the ball more effectively than we are.
….Give Roundtree, only a yard.
…..Roundtree with the carry, down to the Auburn 33, first down.
….Left to right, Wanagho, Horton, Dunn, Smith, Golson on the line. Mizzou has moved it a bit, while I was gone.
Who are the starting offensive linesmen today? Is Darius James being held out today?
Wow. Couldn’t get a push against Mercer and Mizzou is on skates. When all is said and done, this might be a 1 or 2 win team we are playing.
Auburn 289 total yards of offense so far.
…..Carlson is up and good! Auburn leads 28-0 with 7:45 left in the half!
…..The 4th touchdown carry for KJ on the afternoon!
…..First and goal. KJ keeps, dives, SCORES!
….First down for real, this time.
…..Wildcat, on 3rd and 1. KJ turns the corner, whacked, to the 7.
…..2nd and 5. Here’s Ryan Davis on the speed sweep, and he’s got the first down!
…..1st and 10. Give to KJ, flips to Stove, and he’s to the 17.
…..Review STANDS! Auburn’s ball at the Mizzou 22!
…..On the other hand, is there indisputable evidence? I think the call should stand.
…..I think his arm was going forward, and they’ll rule incomplete, I think.
…..No whistle blew, so they’ll have to check on this.
….Picked up by Davidson, and he rumbles down to the 22! Review coming.
…..3rd and 5. Stemming. Lock changes the play. Pressure, HIT, and the ball flutters away, incomplete, was that a fumble?
…..McBride with that stick!
…..2nd and 10. Lock will keep, and and PLANTED at the 50!
……Lock will toss it, and Crockett is dumped, no gain!
…..1st and 10, home Tigers moving.
…..3rd and 5, possession play for Missouri. Lock takes, and he will set up, throws a bullet, out to the 47 is Reese, first down.
……2nd and 10. Lock will have 4 wide. He’ll fake, screen, and chopped down Floyd, got only 5.
…..Here’s Lock, going deep, and is way short. Wheeew. He was open.
…..New set of Mizzou downs at their 35.
….Brings up third and 2. Here’s Lock, will roll right, fires, and Johnson and he’s at the stake.
…..2nd and 9. Lock will screen it left, and out at the 32.
…..1st and 10 MIzzou at their 25. Give Crockett, not much.
…..Carlson to kick off. Here’s Mason deep, and nine yards deep, touchback.
….The way KJ and Kam Martin are playing, let Pettway heal.
…..With 13;32 left in the half, Carlson is up and good, and Auburn leads, 21-0!
Looks like Pettway is getting the day off today.
….2nd and goal at the one. KJ checks in. Stidham in motion, snap to KJ, fakes, and scores!
…..First and goal, give Martin to the one.
…..First and down, Kam Martin is inside the five!
….Here’s a new set of downs. Here’s Stidham with time, goes deep to Hastings, had to come back for it, CAUGHT, at the 17!
…..Here’s motion by KJ, throw to KJ, hurdles, and he’s stiff-arming out of bounds at the 36!
…..My last spot wasn’t so good. Auburn will have 2nd and 7 at the Auburn 25.
…..And the first quarter is over. Auburn leads, 14-0 over the homestanding Missouri Tigers.
…..New set of Auburn downs. Changing the play. Give to KJ, only a yard. No lead blockers.
….3rd and 1 Auburn, leading 14-0. Here is a give, KJ will be tripped at the 22, first down!
…..2nd and 4. Give to KJ, hit at the line, will fight near the stake.
……Here’s KJ, will be tripped at the 15.
…..Auburn is backed up.
…..Here’s Fatony in to punt again. Should get good field position out of this. Chip shot, hits and is downed at the Auburn 9.
……3rd and 10. Lock will throw, and Johnson can’t come up with it.
….2nd and 10. Lock will have two backs. He’ll throw it away, with nick Coe bearing down.
…..1st and 10 at the 46, Crockett put down at the line.
…..2nd and 8. Here’s Crocket with a big run up the gut, and he’s across midfield.
…..Crocket for two, up the gut.
…..Here’s the rush, short punt, but gets a good roll, to the Mizzou 35. 41 yards, in the end, and downed.
…..In comes Ian Shannon to punt.
….Brings up 3rd and about 7. Possession play. Stidham will change his play. Flushed, will throw it away.
Yac yards for Davis
…..2nd and 10 Auburn. Here’s a pitch to KJ, for only 2.
…..New set of downs at the 21. Barrett gets the ball, and stumbles, no gain.
…..Stidham rolls, caught, and fighting forward, Ryan Davis has the first down.
…..Kentucky has taken an early 7-0 lead over Florida in the Commonwealth.
…..5:33 left in the first quarter, and Auburn leads 14-0.
…..2nd and 6, and a timeout called. Auburn? Yes.
Auburn has a rare chance to put this game away in the first quarter, right here on this drive.
…..Stidham keeps, and 4 yards on the RPO
…..Smart play by Roberts. That ball was spinning backwards, and might have been killed in the coffin corner.
……Fatony to punt, and he’s bringing the rain! Roberts fair catch at the ten.
……Lock will go three wides, Lock has to fire quickly, and incomplete!
…..Brings up 3rd and 11. Nick Coe in at tackle.
…..2nd and 15. Here’s Lock, giving to Witter, for aboout 4.
…..2nd and 10. And a third false start!
…..At the Mizzou 38. Here’s a fake, Lock rolls, and throws off the fingertips and out of bounds incomplete.
…..Spot foul, and a new set of downs.
…..That’s going to be Roberts, P. I.
….3rd and 8, possession play. Twins either side. Reese in motion, will throw, incomplete. Flag…
…..2nd and 9. Keeper, Lock hits HIT at the 27, and pushed back.
…..Mizzou will start at their 25. Lock will pitch to J. Johnson, forced out after one!
…..Carlson is over the head of the return man, touchback again!
…..I don’t like Stidham running and getting hit, though. We’re one bad hit from a freshman quarterback out there.
…..There was also a handoff on 3rd and 6. Offensive play-caller isn’t confident, at all.
Cam didn’t look good until his 3rd game – fingers crossed fro stidham – strong performance so far
…..Missouri looks VERY mistake-prone, on offense. Two false starts, a dropped ball interception that should have been caught by a Mizzou receiver.
…..Carlson is up and good again, and it’s 14-0 with about 9 minutes left in the first quarter.
….2nd and goal, keep it at the two. Wildcat, heavy set. KJ iwll keep, and he SCORES!
….FIRST and goal, Auburn! Here’s give KJ, and is dropped for a loss.
…..2nd and 7. Stidham, flushed, and will run, he’s to the THREE!
….New set of Auburn downs! KJ powers to the 15
Um so if D Barrett is on the field it will be thrown to him on a swing pass. Check.
…..3rd and long Tigers. Stidham… will fires, Hastings has it at the 18!
Tip, tip, tip pick.
…..2nd and 15. Lock is throwing and Carlton has the pick at the 33, on the slant!
….And another false start! Wow.
…..Here’s a throw by Lock, and Crockett is blown up by Matthews, incomplete.
…..Here’s the boot by Carlson, and another one out of the end zone.
Watch for Mizzou to fold and quit early in this one if this keeps up. Heard they had a players only meeting earlier in the week that almost came to blows.
…..Georgia is now up 14-0 on Mississippi State. Ouch, for the SEC West.
…..Carlson is up and good, and Auburn leads, 7-0 early in the first.
….KJ, TOUCHDOWWWWN, AUBURN!
…..2nd and goal at the 2. Stidham back in. GIve, WALKS IN!
Wow, hand full of facemask.
…..First and goal at the 6. Here’s the wildcat. KJ takes the snap, and he’s keeping, will twist down to the 2!
….Hit out of bounds!
……Pistol set. Running, Stidham is close, and a flag.
…..ive KJ. to the 16, 3rd and 4.
First play was longer than any offensive play last week.
…..New set of downs in the red zone!
Well… bombs away.
…..Here’s Stidham, goes DEEP, K. Davis to the Mizzou 22!
Well the defense made the trip. Now for the O…
…..1st and 10 AUburn, at the 20. Kerryon Johnson in, and Dunn at center?
…..4th and long. In comes Fatony, BOOOOOMS on, Roberts at the 20, will go down.
…..3rd and 6. Lock gives and stuffed is Witter! lost a yard!
….3rd and short. Here’s 3 wides?, Pistol, false start!
….2nd and 6. Will throw short, to the 34.
…..1st and 10 for Mizzou. Lock will take at the 25, and he’s handing to Crockett, for about 4.
…..The boot by Carlson, it’s thru the uprights! Touchback!
…..’AU wins the toss, defers.
…..Pettway limping during warmups, according to Ronnie Brown.
…..Fromm with the 59 yard bomb, and UGA is up 7-0.
Seems Ga always has a good QB? Not there missing piece ever
…..Missouri’s O-line AVERAGES 326 pounds per man.
…..As Rod says, “It’s show me time, in the show me state!”
….I hate hearing that two starting defenders are out, against an explosive offense. Atkinson and Neal are the next men up, I think.
…..News from Mizzou.. Tre’ Smith is sitting this one out. As is Javaris Davis, both injured.
…..I’ll do my best! Windows update made me reboot, and I missed the end of that USCe win. Wow…
Missou is a great concern being in the SEC. Remember the team threatened to boycott the last game in 2016 if the adm did not cave to the demands of the rioters on campus. Also student admissions for 2017 are down over 35% because of the student protests/riots/demos/demands. Would rather a southern team be in the SEC.
Acid, AUT, et, Atl, do us proud tonight!!
I would absolutely take the WIN but no way to be overly pleased with it… Let’s hope our “good” Tigers do WAY better tonight — I’m outta here – will check in later as I can.
Nailed it — first career FG wins the game — USCe 17 – LATech 16 — FINAL…
That should have been “hang” in here — told you I cannot type on my phone!!
Glad this is almost over — About to get things started here in MO – but I’m trying to hand in here as long as I can.
WOW — what a catch!! :11 seconds remaining and USCe will within FG range with :07 remaining.
Or, maybe I should say just replay booth… Refs actually threw the flag.
No matter what happens tonight most of us can’t get over the fact that Auburn has been in the NC game twice in the last 7 years where few teams ever dream of getting to. But how can we immediately drop into mediocrity in the other 5 years? Either way War Eagle!
I think the refs and replay booth got that one correct
USCe got that flag but not sure I agree —
And SoCal at home
And that wasn’t the best spot for a FG kick
…..Only a few seconds left for South Carolina, and they have no timeouts.
:55 left in the game and LAtech now leading 16-14
25 yard kick is good!
So, here we go… :58 left in the game
…..Bama is now up 59-0 on the Commodores. Ouch.
Nothing much on the 3rd down play so now 4th and 3 just inside the 10 – USCe out of time outs
….4th and 3 at the 8. Game-deciding field goal coming.
They are now showing the game on the in-stadium TV — 1:44 left in the game. LA Tech trailing 13-14 and now have 3rd and 5 at the 10
….The field position marker says that La Tech is at the USCe 14.
…..I refreshed the page, and my feed went back to 5 minutes. No TV, at the moment.
And no way to look it up now
No ideas about their FG kicker, however —
LA Tech in FG range with, I think, with 1:50ish left
…..They are near field goal range, if they don’t blow it.
LA Tech “NOT” going down without a fight against USCe
Wow — catch stands after review — I didn’t think so but will take it
Ha! So it seems!! On both accounts
….Or in Texas A&M’s case on opening week, barely losing them.
…..Barely winning non-conference games is trendy, this year.
Muschamp and USCe may win this one but nothing to be proud of… Much the same as AU against Mercer – but AU’s game wasn’t this close…
…..Ty’Son Williams, 35 yard run. A bang-bang drive, to paraphrase Coach Malzahn. South Carolina leads, 14-13 late.
And now, USCe leading 14-13 over LA Tech following a TD run – 4:52 left in the game
Yeah, also looks like USCe just scored to tie up the game with the PAT still coming.
….I’ll be doing shorthand with typos, too. Standing, with a laptop.
…..Alabama has pushed out to 52-0 vs. Vandy.
And, all, please pardon any typos, etc. as I am typing on my phone
Close enough — basically Muschamp has to stop the RC and then score a TD and PAT to manage the win…
…..It’s still at about 8 minutes on my feed.
And I’m finally able to get the USCe game on the ESPN app but probably way behind. Currently showing 13-7 LA Tech with 7:18 left in the game
….I’m on a slow connection, too. Here’s the link I’m using. I have to keep refreshing, with this connection.
….TCU scores again, and leads Okie State 34-17. Less than 5 minutes remain, so that one is likely over.
Thank you – Wi-Fi seemed okay at the beginning but cannot steam, etc.
….Cal and USCw are tied at 13, midway thru the 4th.
Purdue 10, Michigan 7 at the half, it seems.
Hate to keep bothering you guys – but am I hearing correctly that Purdue is leading Michigan? Nothing has yet been posted on the scoreboard in the stadium. I’m trying to stay updated but, obviously, failing…
…..Shocker… Boston College and Clemson are tied at 7-all, late in the 3rd!
…..MSU won’t have the cowbells to help them this week, either.
…..I don’t have a good feel for that game. I think UGA is overrated, but either of those teams can look like world-beaters one week, and terrible the next.
Acid – or anyone else – what is the feeling about UGA against Clanga tonight? I know that the AU game outweighs all but, just curious…
They just posted TCU 27 OkieSt 17 in the third
sorry – just saw your post about USCe scoring –
Acid, if USCe loses this game then Muschamp could be in trouble – that hasn’t been spoken of by anything I’ve read, but still, a loss (or maybe even a really close win) does’t bode well – IMO only
We are still way over an hour from kickoff here but the stadium is already electric. Student section for MO hasn’t yet given up – wow.
…..A touchdown pass from Jake Bently, and USCe has cut the lead to 13-7, early in the 4th.
Acid, this is the bad part of traveling on the road — we don’t get to watch much of anything!! But, the tradeoff is normally worth it. Even if I cannot contribute I still get to keep up thanks to you and other TET members!!
…..I watched the first half of the TAMU/Arky bash. Sloppy football, sloppy reffing. 50-43 final, TAMU won. Arky goes on 1-2 on the season, TAMU is 3-1. Texas A&M is one play from being undefeated, this year.
As were we – they were great at the SECCG also –
….Good to hear about Mizzou. I was impressed by their fans at the 2013 SEC title game.
And aTm finally beats Arky in OT but I don’t have final score handy.
…..TCU has dominated time of possession on Okie State, and the Cowboys are down to their 3rd string left tackle.
But, crap, is it hot here!! In the low 90’s with an expected 88 at kickoff. Otherwise, the weather is perfect – hardly a cloud in the sky. But, as I earlier stated, the MO fans are as gracious, and equal to, any we’ve encountered for an “away” game.
I think I saw that correctly
And, based on the scoreboard here — TCU leading OkieSt 27-10 in the third —
Thanks, Acid — Hard to believe that of FlState — Wow — But no tears here…
….La Tech drove down and threw a pick in the end zone, or the lead would have been bigger. At the end of the third, La Tech13, South Carolina 0.
@tigertime – all I have seen is that Missouri leads the nation in “puppy mills” — I have nothing to contribute beyond that.
…..You sir, are correct! NC State 27, FSU 21, final.
In the stadium – seats not bad at all – let’s all hope the game isn’t at all “bad” —
Looks like Bama is being Bama – Tennessee won a squeaker at home against UMass — And, Acid (or anyone else, did I see correctly where the Seminoles lost another??)
USCe might be in trouble against LaTech (??) – and we’ve yet to see what UGA does against MissSt. and, of course, what AU can do against the third Tigers in the SEC…
…..Louisiana Tech ripped off a 6 minute drive, and leads South Carolina 13-0 midway thru the third quarter.
…..Halftime in Nashville, Alabama leads Vanderbilt 31-0.
Yeah, from what I’ve heard – UT hung on to win 17-13 against UMass — Not a great showing especially with the Vols playing at home…
And Vandy stands zero chance against Bama…
…..Nationally, TCU is playing keep-away with Okie State, and leads 20-7 in the 2nd.
…..Touchdown, Bama. They now lead Vandy, 28-0 with 9 minutes left in the half.
…..A missed South Caroline field goal leaves the La Tech Bulldogs ahead 6-0, at the half.
…..After a Bentley interception, Louisiana tech extends their lead over South Carolina to 6-0.
…..Correction, end of the first quarter in the Bama Vandy game. And Alabama leads 21–0. So much for a Bama upset…
…..Update, 14-0 Bama midway through the 2nd.
South Carolina trails La Tech, 3-0 in the 2nd.
What is with this puppy thing at mizzou.. wow this story is bad
…..THus far today, TAMU beat Arkansas, 50-43 in overtime.
Tennessee 17, UMass 13, final.
Bama leads Vandy 7-0 late in the 1st.
La tech leads USCe, 3-0 early.
We are here and now waiting to enter the stadium – no real chance to keep up with other games so no real clue what’s going on elsewhere – MO fans are gracious, or at least those we have met thus far – they all seem to be expecting a huge loss (and I hope they are correct) but they control the outcome no more than I — will post as I can but expect notta – just depends on the game and my better half…
…..I’m going mobile, and will be in and out, this afternoon. War Eagle, and beat Mizzou!
…..One other SEC game is in progress. Tennessee leads UMass 14-6, at the half. Apparently Auburn isn’t the only league team able to sleep-walk thru a non-conference game!
…..Aggies enjoyed a resurgence, and now trail Arkansas 21-17 at the half. This game should have been tied, but for the refs.
…..SEC refs pile on a ticky-tack holding flag, and AtM has to settle for a field goal. Down 21-10 to the Razorbacks.
…..They are going to hide behind the quick whistle. TD comes off the board.
…..You know, I understand “no-calls.” If the ref didn’t see it, he can’t call it. But how do you rule a player out of bounds, when he didn’t actually step out? No foot was even CLOSE to the line! SEC refs…
…..Mond did not step out, on review. I think that is an 89 yard zone-read keeper for a score, for the Aggies.
…..Arkansas leads, 21-7 in the Jerry Dome, in the 2nd quarter.
…..First and goal at the six, and run it right at the Aggies. Touchdown on the first play, against a soft defense.
…..Classic Arkansas stretch play, and and a nice cutback. Texas A&M tacks on a facemask gift.
…..And on cue, Mond throws a pick into traffic.
…..Aggies look melt-down prone. Arkansas is matching up, physically, which is surprising. Arkansas got wrecked, a couple of weeks ago against TCU.
Nothing like a shovel pass or a screen to take advantage of an aggressive end.
…..Also, I will be checking over in Athens, to see what’s happening in the Mississippi State/Georgia tilt. That’s a very interesting matchup of SEC unbeatens. Can’t wait to see who’s for real, and who’s pretending.
…..I’ll be doing a play by play on tonight’s game, but expect a few delays or dropped plays, from time to time. I won’t be at my usual state-of-the-art control center…
…..And we are live! Looks like a fun Saturday for college football!
About Acid Reign:.....Still making noise after all these years! Lifetime slacker, dreamer, and miscreant with a knack for calculation. I was born in the United State of Texas, but have spent the majority of my years here amongst the shaded hills of the Tragic City, enjoying glorious smog-enhanced sunsets. In a troubled county, I live in a little slice of paradise between the ridges of Red and Shades Mountains. I've been an obsessive Auburn football follower since the Punt-Bama-Punt days, and have seen a lot of great football on the Plains. This lazy shirker finally learned the value of hard work and persistence from the fine folks in Auburn, and enjoys his return visits immensely! Hobbies include guitar-playing (or really just making loud and weird noise on any sort of instrument or object), cooking, computers, tennis, and old-school pen and paper RPGs. I love getting together with a good drink, great family, and friends..... (Acid Reign is Track ’Em Tigers’ Senior Editor). View Profile →
