Late Thanksgiving, Foul Fans, and Guilty Confessions

By on December 1st, 2013 in Member Post 6 Comments »

First, I want to add to Jay’s post from earlier in the week.  I am thankful for the Auburn football team, et al.  I don’t think I have experienced a season where I have received so much entertainment, week after week.  No X’s and O’s here, I’m just happy for the ride, and it’s not over yet.  Win or lose next week, we are still playing in December, and we have a bowl game to look forward to, if not much much more.

Second, I experienced the added entertainment of lurking over at the Rollbamaroll site last night.  I would like to add thanks that we don’t do that here.  It was sad but I couldn’t help looking, kind of like driving by an auto accident.  I heard that Bama’s kicker was getting death threats last night.  I know there are good and bad Alabama fans just like Auburn, but come on…..

And lastly, I have mixed emotions in announcing that my daughter got a full ride scholarship to, (wait for it), Alabama.  Jury is still out between Alabama and Florida, but Bama is probably in the lead.  We would love for her to experience Auburn, but Alabama is showing the money, and out-of-state tuition is too much to swing.  Roll Tide?

No need to feel down about your daughter’s education. I have twin daughters who graduated three times total from LSU and I am still 100% an Auburn Tiger and will be until The Good Lord takes me away. I never leave home without something that says “Auburn” very prominently displayed on my person and have done so for 50 years and, I live in Baton Rouge, LA! And, until The Good Lord takes me, I will never forget, win or lose,

    WAR EAGLE !!!

    GO BIG BLUE !!!

Dude! Congrats to your daughter on the scholly!!!!

I don’t have to tell you how awesome it will be for her to get through school potentially debt free. That is a game changer, my friend. Plus, Alabama academically has many strengths. And if she has a love for Auburn, that will never leave her no matter where she goes. I didn’t go to Auburn and look at me…or don’t, depending on what kind of example you think I am ;). (I mean, we ROLLED my print of the Toomer’s Oaks….it’s hanging on the wall…over one of our mantles). Auburn games are still special to Pops of ToTM and me. Like last night….amazing game made somehow MORE special because I was able to give my pops a high five, in person.

You’ve guided your daughter to a place of success. Congrats! War Eagle!

…..Absolutely. You’ve got to take that scholly, and run with it. And congratulations!

I would be highly disappointed if you tried to talk her out of such a great opportunity. Auburn will be there years from now regardless and who knows what may happen in the next few years. Congrats to your daughter!

Tell her congratulations… hold your nose… and let her go… in this day and age you can’t pass that kind of opportunity up. Just because she goes to the school doesn’t mean she roots for the dark side.

The fact she has worked hard to get herself in contention for a major college scholarship is just awesome Joe. You’ve got to be a proud parent.
Having said that, you seem to imply that their is a glimmer of a chance she chooses Florida….Go Gators!
