The man who engineered one of the biggest turnarounds to a football program in college football history, picked up a big award today. Auburn Coach, Gus Malzahn was named the South Eastern Conference Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.

He took a team that was winless in league play a year ago and led them to a conference championship and a berth in the BCS National Championship game.

Auburn Athletic Director, Jay Jacobs said, “What he’s done with this group that was a lot of broken pieces and pulling them together and getting them the confidence and the trust to buy in the system, that is a remarkable coaching job.”

Malzahn came in and hired a coaching staff second to none. He then took over a confused and dispirited group of players; gave them new hope, turned around recruiting, and enforced discipline. The players responded and got better as a team with each passing week. And now his Tigers are sitting on top of the SEC.

Congratulations Coach and War Eagle!

Update: (12-11-13)
The Coaches also named Malzahn the SEC Coach of the Year on Wednesday.

He deserves CBF coach of the year. I still just can not believe this season. Frickin unbelievable!

  3. Third Generation Tiger Third Generation Tiger says:

The AP got that part right and they voted Tre Mason SEC Player of the Year.

In my opinion they fell short on the rest of the list. Please judge for yourselves. How are Reese Dismukes and Steven Clark not first team?

In related news, ignorant Bams are hysterical and in full panic mode.

    Auburn is ascending.
