Just reading Track ’em Tigers back a couple of months to now.  I was shocked.  Members,

please watch your grammar and spelling when you post.  It looks bad and could

cast a bad shadow over Auburn University.  It is OK for Bama fans that likely

never entered a class room there.  Right?

Having good grammar is definitely a plus, but I’m not so sure that the grammar of TET posters is casting much of a shadow on Auburn . . . Of course, I could be wrong.

This is your first real post, and you want to scold the members on their grammar? Shocked?? Really?? Have you been on many sports blogs?

I know the intent is good and all, but that’s like showing up late to a party and announcing to everyone that now that you were there, you would like most of the people to gargle some mouthwash so that the party can be that much more fun! Endearing, you are not.

I tell you what, why don’t you become a contributing member with a few noteworthy posts, AND THEN tell folks to tighten up their grammar. You’ll still be rude, but at least you will have a little more cred to work with. Trust me, nobody comes here to re-take Comp 101, so save the grammar posts for trolling on RTR. You’ll get called a tool there, and I don’t really think that is appropriate language for TET.

……If I thought I was embarrassing Auburn, that would be unfortunate. However, it’s been 35 years since freshman English for this blogger! I do have a proofread it once, and let it fly policy for most things here. Not even the newspapers have perfect grammar and spelling, anymore.

  4. You all were right, I didn’t intend to offend so many people. I Didn’t mean to embarrass Auburn, ( I am Auburn through and through, just like you,) or any one else. Please forgive me and I will improve. I am new to this game, so not knowing me, don’t count me out. I may make mistakes, like the newspapers, but I should check carefully what I write.

    Second Bridge.

It’s all good. I look forward to reading your comments in the future. War Eagle!

Unlike 99.99% of the blogosphere, the ability to admit you made a mistake and to apologize, makes you OK in my book. Just like an email, you can’t really tell what the intent of a post on a blog is because you can’t see the person and observe their attitude while writing. Conveying a message with the proper context and feeling of the writer is not as easy as it may look.

Welcome to TET and we all look forward to hearing more from you.

We all make mistakes and, the more I attempt to type on this #$&%=÷ touchscreen, the more likely I find myself posting something that might never happen with a real keyboard!
