Exterminate the Gophers! (Auburn vs Minnesota Open Thread)

By on January 1st, 2020 in Football 2 Comments »

It is Outback time, once again! Here is praying that we don’t have copious rain, missed ref calls and missed overtime field goals

War Eagle, everybody! This afternoon Auburn will play once again in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida. The Tigers have faced a lot of adversity here in the past. I can point all the way back to Tiger running back Stacy Danley taking a wicked hit in the 1989–1990 version, and Auburn rallying to beat The Ohio State University 31–14. There was the terrible muck bowl in the rain against Penn State where Auburn gave up 4 touchdown passes in the 3rd quarter and lost to the Nittany Lions 43–14. Then we had the game that would not die on New Years Day 2000. Somehow in OT, Wes Byrum finally ended it with a winning kick. On New Years Day 2005, Daniel Carlson was not so lucky. A missed field goal in OT sent Auburn home a loser against Wisconsin.

This game will kick off at 12:00 PM, Central Time and will be televised on ESPN. There should be no weather issues with warm temps near 70 degrees at kickoff and clear skies.

This game won’t count for much except final poll position and attitude going forward. However, it is a great chance to show out for NFL scouts, loyal fans taking a great day off to watch Auburn, and a chance to show up the B1G once again. Personally, I want to see the seniors go out fighting hard and be triumphant.

As always, feel free to join in and participate in this thread. I will be at the keyboard for a full play by play and will keep watch on all of the SEC on New Year’s Day! War Eagle!

Since Auburn will receive to start the 3rd Qtr., Gus will probably keep the defense out on the field and make them run sprints for the entire half. Must. Grind. Down. Defense.

Minnesota had a very good plan for Auburn.
Auburn, apparently, had NO plan for Minnesota.
I’m sure Gus and coaches could have found some game film on Minnesota some where.
