Easy Target(s) ?

By on April 6th, 2013 in Member Post 1 Comment »

Our football program, our Oak Trees, our Tiger Hostesses, our basketball program, our former head coach’s pants…You name it, it’s been targeted, slammed, drug through the mud, ridiculed, slandered, and smeared. It usually starts with one entity writing or speaking about one of the aforementioned and gets piled on by self- proclaimed rs, journalists, or bloggers.

Our usual defense is “no comment” until the hogs get washed and the derigibles of lies get deflated. This time should be different. We will never regain our duly earned, good reputation. The smearing gets read but the truth of exoneration that follows never seems to make the front pages.

So what should change ? There has already been quicker response from the A.D. and Gene Chizik but this needs to be a case for fighting back with iron fists. Whatever recourse is available should be persued. Suits for slander and/or libel, if viable, should be brought forward. Friends and family say don’t listen to talk radio and ignore the media and rival fans but that ship has sailed. If the world keeps denigrating my family, look out world. It’s time to fight back.

It’s kind of hard to fight against the pants thing. Never got a good explanation there….
