Drain the Green Wave! (Auburn vs. Tulane Open Thread)

By on September 7th, 2019 in Football 16 Comments »

An opener tougher than expected?

War Eagle, everybody! Today marks the 2019 home opener for the Auburn Tigers. Making the trip up from New Orleans, Louisiana to play the Tigers tonight are the Tulane Green Wave. When this game was scheduled, Auburn was looking for an easy nonconference game. That may not be the case as Tulane looked really good in its opener against Florida International, 42–14. For the Green Wave, this is a big payday and a chance to possibly pull off an upset.

This game will kick off at 6:30 PM Central Time and will be televised on ESPN 2. For those attending this game, expect another toasty September evening with highs around 90 at kickoff, dropping down to about 80 when this one is done. A waxing gibbous moon will be high above the south end of Jordan-Hare Stadium, flanked by the planets Saturn and Jupiter to either side.

As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I will at the keyboard for my usual play by play, armed with a cool evening drink and some delicacies such as lightly steamed oysters and other badness. This won’t be an all-day football watching event, but I will try to check in by 2 or 3 in the afternoon. War Eagle! And beat Tulane!

I think this site was hacked. Every time I tried to access Track ’em Tigers I was sent through a series of URLs that ended up in a known Flash Player update malware scam. If you ever get the Flash Player update screen popping up, do not click on it.

I had sent Aub Tigerman a couple of emails about it but never heard back. I hope he didn’t click on the update and have his computer taken over by the evil empire.

Sorry about that Kungfu. I was at the ball game when this occured. When I got home about 1:15 a.m. I had several emails about it, in a different account. You probably used an email address that I don't check that often.
Anyway, when I saw the problem, I immediately emailed and texted our tech support guy who worked on it all day Sunday.
HOPEFULLY, he's got it under control now.
I will update my email address under our “Contact us” list so you can reach me if you ever need to again.

  2. Yeah, I had a similar problem when logging in. I went to a site that scanned and it was infested with malware links. This links shows all of the malware links that my computer was presented with.

…..I was in and out Saturday afternoon, adding a few scoreboard comments to the live blog, then it basically stopped working around 4:00 PM. I decided to refresh the whole webpage, and hit the malware train. I sent out emails for help and the like, but we were kicked offline all weekend.

…..The malware itself was pretty nasty. It could not do much to an updated Firefox, Chrome or Safari browser, but I started up a Windows XP virtual machine in VMWare, and tested it with IE-7. Had to delete the whole VM, and restore from backup!

So I really don’t know what any of the above means, but when I logged in on Saturday, I was taken to a site where i was able to secure over six million dollars in gold found during the first Iraq war. All I had to do was send $200 by Western Union to an attorney in London. The gold is supposed to arrive by courier this week, I’ll keep you posted.

I do not know what flash player is.

I know we have players named bookstore and worm, though.

It’s called Wordfence. Install it, love it, stop worrying about your website getting hijacked. I spend zero time disinfecting WordPress these days. Even the free version will work. You also have a borked redirect after logging in: The naked domain is prepended to the redirect URL causing a 404 error. There are also mixed-content problems resulting in the site being listed as “insecure” in the URL bar. If you have a competent “tech guy” then you shouldn’t be having these problems.
