Come On, Bring The Noize!

By on November 24th, 2017 in Football, News 13 Comments »

Wow, the stadium was loud for the Georgia game.

If possible, and I hope it is, we need to be even louder for this Bama game, and their fans, and their players. If you are not in the stadium, then you need to yell at the TV. Get your family and friends and YELL together—JHS needs the NOIZE!!

We need to feel the noize  today in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn needs this game, maybe more in theory than in fact, but wait no, that is totally incorrect. Auburn needs to win this game for any reason imaginable because, well, this is Auburn vs. Alabama. There has to exist no other reason—Auburn needs to win. Auburn should want to win and in a big way.

This game is for the SEC West Championship. This game is a chance to play, yet again, a top-10 Georgia team for the SEC Championship, once Auburn takes down yet another Number One team. This game is, following a loss by Number 2 Miami on Friday, Auburn’s chance to enter into the conversation of being in the Top Four of the CFP; a conversation in which Auburn is already engaged.  But a win over the Tide will make such conversation even more realistic.

I may “wax poetic” at times but Auburn needs to win this game, win it as big as possible, and the fans need to BRING THE NOIZE!  In that regard, let us all do our part—the NOIZE made a difference in the Georgia game—let it make a difference today!!

I work with a Bama fan who just won’t shut up about how great they are. He’s been lecturing me about how much better Bama is than Auburn, and how Auburn’s coaching staff didn’t just outcoach Georgia’s staff. Oh, and Jalen Hurts is a dual-threat QB, and no way can Auburn’s defense contain that, Auburn hasn’t faced a dual-threat QB all year, and it was just my imagination that Auburn successfully contained Deshaun Watson for example.

He’s predicting a Bama win by the score of 42-17. I told him to back it up and I will bet him on that spread. He gave me a 20 point spread on this game.

Now he’s accusing me of being “butthurt”. That’s Bama fans for you: getting cocky to the point of actually putting money on the line for a 20 point spread on this game, but you’re the one with the problem, not them.

So true, dyingculture—The bammers seem to be in their own little world. Even if they win, it sure isn’t obvious that Bama is SOOOO much better.

…..A lot of the guys writing opinions on this game apparently haven’t actually watched Auburn, much. I saw one newspaper account talking about what great games Darius James and Austin Golson had against Georgia. Folks, Darius James has had only limited minutes in recent weeks, and Prince Tega Wanagho has handled left tackle, mostly. How can you make a judgement on who has the better offensive line, when you don’t even know the current lineup?

Coffee is brewing, dog is fed, game day chilli about to commence, and ESPN is on. I saw Huey Lewis open for REO Speedwagon in Columbus in 83 / 84, and Quiet Riot was playing the next night; never quite developed the taste.

      • neonbets says:

Oh man. You survived an evening with Huey Lewis and REO Speedwagon…only to follow it up the very next night with Quiet Riot?!?! It hurts just thinking about it. Reminds me of this poor zebra that manages to evade a massive Nile crocodile…only to meet a pride of lions on the other side.

Some trivia for you: Quiet Riot was actually started by one of the greatest rock guitarists who ever lived–Randy Rhoads. His solo in Ozzie’s Crazy Train sounds like it was played by a guy with 6 arms. [Unfortunately, RR didn’t stay long with either Quiet Riot or Ozzy. Helio crash, I think.]

One wouldn’t know it from the lyrics, but Huey Lewis (not his real name…but I don’t know what it is) is a very high IQ dude. He aced his SATs, skipped grades, etc. Jimmy Buffet was another surprise in this regard. As is/was the front-man for Boston (MIT, I believe). Hell, even Mick Jagger went to London School of Economics. I guess that’s what Dire Straits was writing about in Money for Nothing. If you gots the brains and like to have a good time, then fronting a rock band is an astute career choice.

Alright, back to football and WDE!

        • Acid Reign Acid Reign says:

…..Randy passed away in a plane crash. He was a passenger in a small aircraft that was out one morning, and they were buzzing Ozzy’s bus, trying to wake him up rudely. Flew too low on one pass. We got a chance to see Randy and Ozzy live, in Birmingham’s Boutwell Auditorium, just a couple of weeks before that.

…..I liked the Quiet Riot version better, too. Carlos Cavazo had a tremendously huge guitar tone, for that era. Slade did not get a fair chance, with me. Tragic City radio didn’t play hard rock much, if at all, back in the early 1970s. That changed later in the decade, as K-99 (WRKK) came along and broke all of the rules!

  4. Acid Reign Acid Reign says:

…..So, which version of that song do readers prefer? The original Slade version, or Quiet Riot's, a decade later?

  5. easyedwin easyedwin says:

Well,” soulja boy has been avenged, as was UGA 2 weeks ago.
In 2009 iron bowl coach saban was caught on live camera saying “you know how much I hate these f….ing people”.
Maybe 1 more iron bowl win will calm me down and soothe the hate I have for the uAt.
Auburn wins by a field goal 27-24.
    War Dam errybody !!

    • Acid Reign Acid Reign says:

…..I hated that Auburn played that song. It doen’t belong on a school playlist, being vulgar, obscene, and sexist. It wasn’t a great Auburn moment, to me. Google up the lyrics and see. I’m not going to sully this blog with a link…

  6. meathead530 says:

Gus needs to be the coach he was 2 weeks ago and a little bit more. The team is ready and I hope he is.

I think this game is going to be another nailbiter, but Auburn pulls it off 24-21.

My dream scenario: Auburn wins today, beats Georgia at the SEC Championship. Somehow Alabama worms its way back into the top 4. Auburn beats them again. Then this would be dubbed the year the tigers beat Georgia and Bama TWICE. Then play either Clemson or OU in the championship for revenge.

I know, I know. Let’s take care of the Iron Bowl first.

  7. War_Eagle_2010 War_Eagle_2010 says:

I just hope Auburn beats the snot out of them.
