Since moving to the leadoff spot in the lineup, Auburn catcher Carlee Wallace has been hitting for a .514 on-base percentage. In the Tigers’ win over Georgia Saturday she was 4-for-4 when leading off an inning and was 9 of 15 for the series. For her performance in the Tigers’ sweeping of the Bulldogs, Carlee has been named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week.
The series win marked the first time in program history for the Tigers to sweep the Dogs on their home field. And offensively, Wallace led the way. She had a 1.000 slugging percentage and was .571 in advancing runners. In Saturday’s 13–4 beat down she had a a home run, a triple and a single.
For the season the Auburn senior leads the team with a .768 slugging percentage and is hitting .402 with 33 hits, including five home runs, two triples, and 11 doubles.
Wednesday’s game against Samford has been postponed due to inclement weather, but Wallace will be leading the Tigers against Ole Miss on A-Day weekend at Jane B. Moore Field. Here’s to hoping she keeps the offensive prowess going!
