Cage the Warhawks!

War Eagle, everybody! It’s Auburn football game day once again! Today, Auburn takes on the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks, at 11:21 AM, Central Time. The game will be played at Jordan Hare Stadium in Auburn, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network. Check your local listings. In Birmingham, that’s WTTO, Channel 21.

Louisiana Monroe comes in undefeated, having opened their season in Little Rock Arkansas, last weekend. The Warhawks pulled a stunning upset, rallying from a 28-7 deficit to win the game in overtime, and ruining Arkansas’ national championship hopes. Many of the current Warhawk starters have played in Jordan Hare Stadium before, back in 2010, when they faced Auburn’s national championship team. They are unlikely to be intimidated by the atmosphere and noise at an Auburn home game.

The Tigers hope to right their ship today in their home opener. The Tigers began the season in Atlanta two weeks ago, losing a close one to Clemson, 26-19. Last week, the Tigers were drubbed in the second half, losing to Mississippi State 28-10 in Starkville. Rumor from the Auburn practice fields this week indicate that we’ll see some depth chart changes this week. Several sources have indicated that sophomore linebacker Justin Garrett will get his first start at Sam linebacker. Of course, with as much spread as ULM runs, Auburn will likely pull that linebacker, in favor of an extra defensive back.

It should be a good September day for football in Auburn, with the temp around 80 degrees at kickoff, rising to around 85 by the end of the game. It should be partly cloudy on the day, but not much chance of rain. In fact, there’s likely to be more sun than clouds, so bring that sunblock if you’re headed to the game!

As always, feel free to participate in this thread. We’ll be in during the day at times, but I’m not going to be available for a full-blown play by play. Let’s all cheer our Tigers on to victory, and let’s beat those Warhawks!
