Blast Bama! (Auburn vs. Alabama, Iron Bowl Open Thread)
A roaring venue awaits the Tide!
War Eagle, everybody! Amen Corner concludes today in Auburn, as the top-ranked, undefeated Alabama comes calling. The winner of this Iron Bowl game will punch its ticket to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta next Saturday. The loser awaits bowl selection Sunday and will hope for a good destination. The stakes don’t get any higher in this annual slugfest.
Most pundits in this game expect a tight, low-scoring game, despite the fact that both teams have high-performing offenses. Both teams like to establish the run, then burn the opposition with deadly passing. Both of these teams also field top-notch defenses that specialize in strangling opposing running games. It’s going to be a war on both sides in the trenches. This game will kick off at 2:30 PM Central Standard Time, and it will be nationally televised on CBS. No game in the country today has bigger implications.
It should be a perfect day for football, to the fans attending this game. Kickoff temperature should be in the upper 60’s on a partly cloudy day. It should be not too cold and not too much sun at the start. The sun will set low over the south end zone in the 3rd quarter, and temps will fall into the upper 50’s. As it gets dark, a nearly half-moon will appear high in the sky if it is not too cloudy. There should be no chance for rain.
As always, feel free to join in and enjoy this thread. I will at the keyboard for my usual play by play, armed with a big mug of coffee and a bowl of holiday Chex Mix. War Eagle, and let’s see if Auburn can continue a championship run against the Alabama Crimson Tide!
friedca as long as I can remember the uat student section, particularly the fraternity and sorority sections, have been incredibly profane and disrespectful when we play them. Like their sidewalk fans, their taunts tend not to be of a sporting nature. At sporting events and in formal business settings I’ve personally heard some of the most vile and disrespectful comments from them. They look down on us from the most hypocritical of perches. Uat graduate and author Gay Talise summed up their feelings toward Auburn men and women on the ESPN 30/30 show about the Auburn, Alabama rivalry, when he said, and I paraphrase somewhat, “We thought they (Auburn people) were illiterate, redneck, white trash, people who were attending what amounted to a trade school”. This attitude still permeates their alumni and ironically their sidewalk fan base.
I’ve always said the Bama students and alumni aren’t bad. The rest of the fan base is abysmal though.
…..I figure bad language just shows one’s age. What bothers me more is the savaging of Alabama players. They have an incredible record, and have great effort. They don’t deserve that treatment, from their fans.
So glad TeT keeps the language clean, that rollbammaroll thread was gross.
….I am glad you enjoyed it! It’s been an evolution, for me. My family appreciates me more when I’m bent over the keyboard, than screaming and coaching the team on the living roomTV!
Jay, ATM, and Acid do a GREAT job!! War Eagle everyone!! What a completely AUsome day! Good night!
Well, that was a great win tonight. Even though I only started commenting tonight, I have been an avid reader of TET for the past few years. So, regardless of what happens next week, I will regard this season as remarkable and unforgettable.
Thanks to all who contribute to this site.
Thanks to Acid for the play by plays
…..War Eagle, everyone. What a delicious, decisive win over the Tide. It’s the second best in my lifetime. I’ve enjoyed, basked and savored the victory. WOW! It’s time to check out, sleep on it, and review the DVR tomorrow. War Eagle, everybody! It has been a historic day! Grades and such, tomorrow afternoon.
I was texting with Aubtigman after the game and he says it is easily the best Gameday experience except for maybe the ‘89 game when Bama first played in Auburn.
Honestly, I think louder. If possible, it really ramped up when the fans saw the effect it was having on Bama. The crowd and noise deserve credit for those miscues.
He stays but how much his agent raids Auburns chaotic admin after two overdue wins is to be determined.
The regular SEC 2017 season is pretty much decided. Vandy beats Tennessee, to give the Vols a record 8-loss season, bya 42-24 score.
LSU is in control against a lame duck Texas Aggie squad, 45-21. It’s a close, save for the SEC title game, Auburn vs. Georgia. I can’t wait!
just saw where Auburn will be fined 250K for the fans rushing the field. Maybe thats why they never let us rush the field when I was there.
How was the volume compared to the GA game?
i agree Acid. Gus is as safe as Gus wants to be. Well said. I think he stays as well.
speaking of loud – was it ever!!
…..Here’s the problem with “home.” Gus has already shown that he’s more interested in moving up in the coaching world, than staying in Arkansas. He dumped Houston Nutt and Arkansas to move to Tulsa. Tulsa! And he’s come to Auburn twice. Auburn’s a pretty great place to live in. They’ve got decent schools, and low crime. You’re two hours from the beach, when you have a little time off. You’ve got a nutso fan base that will make it so loud that the opposing team can’t even snap the ball, when the game’s on the line. I think he stays.
I’m super stoked about today’s game and the position Auburn is in! But I would like Gus to start a season off a little more seasoned and not look like a deer in head lights first three weeks.
I just think Gus would have want to go “home” at an extreme level to even consider such a move.
No sain coach would downgrade from Auburn to Arkansas, if so that coach doesn’t have the mental brass to lead the otange and blue. Money play at best.
….Remember, Arkansas already has to pay Bret about $6 million dollars to get out of town. Then they’d have to pay Auburn’s nearly $7 buyout on Gus, AND then pay Gus SEC money, or at least $4 million dollars a year. I’ve seen ideas where the Walton (Walmart) family will pay for it all. I have to laugh! This is the family that pays their managers AND workers sub-poverty wages, and can’t replace shopping carts with square wheels. They are not paying all that, plus Gus at $5 million a year.
…..Personally, I couldn’t say, on definite Arky to Gus reach-outs. However, I was disgusted yesterday, when the Arkansas interim athletic director fired Bert as soon as possible, then opined that any coach that could help Arkansas would love their facilities. This seemed a clear attempt to get into Auburn heads. Fortunately, it did not seem to work. This team came out, and took it out on Bama. It’s a team on a mission.
… and I wonder if Borges has an invisible hand in all this.
I heard if Gus leaves Saban is going to interview.
another outstanding coaching job by the coaching staff. I dare say that the legendary Saban & co. were outcoached today. You’re doggone right we should do everything we can to keep the entire coaching staff together. Regardless of what anyone thinks of him, Malzahn has surrounded himself with an outstanding staff. That says something.
War Damn Eagle! Auburn Tigers best team in Sec no doubt! David Housel tell you that!
Gus is as safe right now at Auburn as he wants to be. There will be no more “hot seat” talk for him this year. Yeah, I’m a little concerned but, honestly, I’m more concerned with being able to keep our OC and DC.
newsflash: during his postgame interview, Stidham flatly stated “I like throwing it to open people”.
gotcha. has there been anything confirmed regarding AR pursuing Gus? AR would have to buy out Gus’s currenct conract right?
…..I’m not a contract negotiator, but the school needs to be working on this, and needs to pony up at least a new $5 mill a year deal, and maybe more. Who else, has had this kind of success against Saban?
whats the etiquette (if there is any) as far as AR is concerned? when do they approach in force? Gus is sitting in a good position either way
…..Gus was asked during the post-game presser, and angrily swatted it aside. He said that he most certainly did not have time to address rumors. That said, Auburn’s brass better pony up, or it could be a problem, during a title run attempt.
I wonder if this win will quell the Malzahn to AR talk. I know finebaum likes to bring it up every chance he gets on his show
That bama thread was deep and delightful. i got lost over there for the past 30 minutes
…..South Carolina has run into a buzz saw, against Clemson, trailing 34-0 late in the third. Not a particularly surprising result, but disappointing for the SEC.
…..Evening SEC scores, on a fantastic Rivalry Saturday day. Texas A&M is trying to give a fight to LSU, trailing 27-14 in the third, but these players clearly haven’t given up on head coach Kevin Sumlin, even if everyone else has.
….We can say that Chip Lindsey called a pretty brilliant game, we can say that Gus didn’t interfere. Fact of the matter is that this is still the Malzhan offense, with a few new wrinkles. Whoever was calling plays did an exemplary job, against a really nasty defense.`
…..Ultimately, it seemed to me that Auburn was just a little bit better on both lines of scrimmage, and at most position groupings. Auburn called and executed a better game, and our shaky special teams play of late did not kill us. Fortunately, bama had more, like the bad snap/muff deal in the second half.
Most Bammers on the ship have been ok, some have come up to me and said it was a great game and we kicked their butts. But, I have to say, I have been approached by so many fans from so many different schools and had my hand shaken in thanks for Auburn beating bama, lol, as if I had anything to do with it.
…..I would caution that this stuff has legs, on the internet. When Auburn loses, and we will again at some point in the future, we can mourn it. We can point to this or that, as to what went wrong. But please, Auburn fans. Don’t let us be the ones drunk-posting on the net what a bunch of chumps our players and coaches are. Even if we lose, it’s great to be an Auburn Tiger. May the best team win, and don’t tear your team down on public boards.
Just a bunch of no class at all over there. Glad we have TET!
….My point was that they revel in some other school fan antics when those schools lose, but they can’t handle it themselves. I don’t mind swear-fests. What I really hate is how they savaged quarterback Jalen Hurts. I would not blame him if he transferred. Hurts scared me to death the whole game. I hate what they did. Ungrateful wretches!
I read some of that thread….I feel like I need a shower now
With regard to the link Acid posted to the Roll Bama Roll site, I have never seen anything more disgusting in my life. Whoever edits that site should be prosecuted for allowing public pornography (language). And I totally agree about the comments being made about the Bama players. Sickening. Thank God I’m an Auburn Tiger, which it’s great to be!
Acid, I have just gotten off of the “rollbamaroll” link you posted below and I’m speechless… I started reading their thread thinking I might get a laugh or two, but my god, how utterly disheartening. Some of the worst trash I’ve read in a long time. After a couple of minutes I had to close that crap down…
…..We have been doing one-game playoff games, for well over a month. We’ll do it again. Nothing matters right now, beyond beating Georgia again, next weekend. We worry about the playoff committee, later. And opponents after that. One game at a time. This team showed today that it can keep chopping wood.
I think a Natty is a pipe dream, it is possible we will have to beat UGA and UAT twice in the same year to do it.
If UAT gets in even if we do beat UGA I don’t know if we can beat them again.
Beating them once per year is Ausome, twice would be a dream
…..Toasted head coaches in SEC this year: Butch Jones (Tennessee), Jim McElwain (Florida), Kevin Sumlin (Texas A&M, likely), Bret Bielema (Arkansas), and Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss.) I’m not sure I’ve seen 5 SEC coaches gone in a season, ever.
…..I’m not sure it was really down to a job in Knoxville tonight, but kudos to Vanderbilt and head coach Derek Mason, for the 42-24 win over Tennessee. I don’t think Vanderbilt would have fired him this year, but I can only guess what it’s like to be a Commodore fan in that state. I’m glad they won.
…..Evening update! A couple of SEC games underway. LSU is dominating Texas A&M 20-0, near the half. Clemson is smashing South Carolina, by the same score. Word is that Aggie head coach Kevin Sumlin will join the ranks of terminated SEC coaches, this weekend.
…..We won’t know till 4:00 PM in Atlanta, really. Auburn’s staff only releases reliable injury if a guy absolutely, positively has no chance to be back.
Gus said shoulder, no word on severity. Will we have Pettway back by next Sat?
Great Game to a great team!
Any word on KJ? Concerned and was wondering.
…..Actually I loved it that their obnoxious fans were feeling that much pain, but dang. They were being absolutely brutal to their own players. That’s terrible. They were a very beat-up team, and should not tear their players up like that.
That thread was great
It was $25k last time. I think it may double for repeat offenses.
……There is a Bama website out there that every Tuesday posts meltdown threads from other school blogs, when their team loses. I think their thread is one of the most glorious meltdowns I’ve ever seen!
…..And yes, we have our work cut out next weekend, to be sure, against a Georgia team that is certainly motivated and angry about what happened two weeks ago. There will be a serious battle over tickets, to see which fan base can fill up the new dome in Atlanta.
…..I’m trying to gauge what the national pundits might think, about the Iron Bowl. Do they give Auburn credit, or was it a Bama choke? That will likely influence committee members, unfortunately.
That is assuming we beat UGA next Sat
….Just running off memory, for that tidbit.
…..I’ll have to look it up to be sure, but I think 11 receptions in a game goes down for 2nd place, in the Auburn record book. I think Willie Gosha had 15 one game, back in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995. Auburn came back in that game, but lose on a missed field goal at the end, 30-28.
If the committee leaves them out of the final four there will be some butt hurt Bammers. I can see it happening.
I can also see them voting them in as well as us and we will have to play UGA and UAT both twice in the same year. I dont know if my heart can take two more of those games.
…..Ryan Davis was the definition of “clutch,” today. Every time Auburn needed a big catch, when we were behind the chains and the pass rush seemed unstoppable, Davis got open, caught it, and made a play. Superb day, for Davis!
Ryan Davis, wow!
……I am beyond ecstatic, over this win! To AU_ATL-FAN, yes. There were about a half dozen no calls on Bama, tonight.
Some sad Bammers on my cruise ship tonight! WDE
It’s gonna cost AU a bunch for that on-field stuff.
And they didn’t keep them off the field tonight, either!!
Thanks…I meant the Georga game so you understood me.
Way louder than last week for sure but I think louder than even the Georgia game
They were bad….I counted at least 3 bad holds not called on their line….the Pass interference was one sided. When we got called for too many men they had three men in motion 6 men on the line and no flag. Was the stadium as loud as last week?
Yep they were terrible all game.
Man – stadium was fully charged! And did the refs look as bad on TV as they looked to us?
And Reverse Rammer Bammer – whatever it is – NEVER gets old although I thought AU had said it wouldn’t be done anymore.
Just hope we have a healthy running back.
…..Can’t wait for next week!
And neither the Georgia win nor the Alabama win needed a miracle. We beat the doo doo out of both of ’em!!!! WAAAR EAGLE. HEY. HEY . HEY.
…..It’s absolutely incredible, that these Tigers have knocked off the number one team in the nation, TWICE, in the last three weeks!
…..Definitely time for a sip of whiskey! War eagle!
…..Thanks! It was a wild one, and tense. I certainly had a sick feeling in my stomach, after Bama’s first second half drive.
…..Another game ball for Ryan Davis, who SHATTERED the single season receptions record today, with 11 catches for 139 yards.
Acid, thanks for the play by play! it is greatly appreciated!
…..All hail to the Champions, of the SEC West!!!!! Woooooooooo! War Eagle!!!!
Absolutely. That D played great.
….This one was awesome! Auburn’s defense is SUCH a scrappy bunch! They kept this team in it.
It never gets old – seeing Alabama Lose!
….That is the first time Auburn has beaten Alabama by more than 10 points, since 1969!
2 up, 2 down. War Eagle
…..And the fans rush the field!
…..This ballgame is OVER! Auburn beats Alabama, 26-14!
…..on ALABAMA! Declined!
…..Malzahn got the cooler dump. Hurts will fire flag, and caught, Sims got all the way to the 4. Flag…
Awesome win! We gotta have Johnson for a chance net,t week.
…..8 seconds remain for the Tide, trailing 26-14.
….No return man deep for Bama. Going for the block. Marshall got it off….out of bounds arround the 32 of the Tide.
…..Aiden Marshall in, not enough guys on the field, and Auburn calls time again. Come on, guys, settle down! Let’s close this thing out!
probably screaming at my TV again
…..Everybody’s hands go up!!!!!
….Auburn calls timeout, with 14 seconds left in the ball game. Auburn leads, 26-14 over Alabama, in the Iron Bowl. Anyone have plans, next Saturday?
Couldn’t they have run it to the wide side to use more time?
…..Auburn will have to punt, with about 15 seconds left.
……We are under a minute in Auburn! On 3rd and 12, here’s a give to Martin, will get nothing.
….2nd and 13. Martin, will go down at the line.
….Auburn can wind it down to about 1:40.
…..Here’s the give to Kam Martin, loses three, clock runs.
….2:29 left, and Bama can’t stop it! Auburn leads, 26-14!
…..Discussion: illegal forward pass! Auburn’s ball!!!!!!!
Could that be be it?
…..Flag… surely they will make the right call?
…..4th and 22, last gasp for the Tide. Hurts will fire, INCOMPLETE, past the line of scrimmage!
….Trying to hit Ridley over the middle, slid on the break.
…..Hurts in the gun. Will step up, fires over the middle, incomplete!
….Bama has two downs to pick up 22 yards. Auburn cannot afford to give up a quick score, here.
….That is Alabama’s last timeout.
…..Auburn still leads, 26-14!
……3rd and 22! Alabama calls time, with 2:39 left in the ball game!
Finally a sack
……Back ’em up to the 35. 2nd and 15. Hurts will step up, running right, SAAAAACKED! COE!
…..2nd and 10. Alabama jumps! Stops the clock at 3:15. false start.
…..New set of downs. Hurts will dump it to Jacobs, back to the line, and no farther.
Prevent defense striking.
….2nd and 7. Hurts will fire to Ridley, caught at the Auburn 30.
…..Stops the clock momentarily. New set of downs. At the 40. Hurts running, stopped at the 43, clock runs.
…..Three wides. Hurts on the draw, will be close. Got it.
…..3rd and 8, two down territory.
…..Under 5 minutes. 2nd and 8. Hurts threw it behind smith, incomplete!
……1st and 10 Tide. Hurts will throw to Smith, out at the 31 and out of bounds.
….Stops the clock. 2nd and 1. Hurts will give to Jacobs, has the first down to the 28.
……1st and HUrts, will run.. Hurts goes out at the 25.
….Not a great punt, but it was killed inside the 20.
…..Setting up the return, fair caught by Diggs at the 15. 5:33 left in this one.
….Aiden Marshall in, for the most important punt of his young career.
…..I agree, AET. Asking for an injury…
…..It’s 4th and about 3, and Alabama is down to 1 timeout remaining, trailing 26-14.
Really, having Stidham run a keeper?
….3rd and 4. Stidham will fake, keeper, he’ll get to midfield, and that’s all. Timeout Bama, with 5:40 left in the ball game.
….They are taping Martin’s ankle. He’s had issues there, earlier in the year.
…..A first down would just about do it, here. But about all Auburn has left to carry the ball are Malik Miller and Devan Barrett.
Come on, this is crazy!
There is 5:50 left in the ball game, and Auburn will have 3rd and 4, when we return. Tigers lead Alabama, 26-14!
Injuries racking up. Not good
….And goes back down. Wow.
…..Martin slow getting up…
……Three wides. Stidham will take, and give to Kam Martin, will break through, to midfield!
……Clock will start, after they set it. 2nd and 13.
…..KJ does limp off under his own power.
….On the day, KJ has 106 on the ground, 21 receiving, and a 3 yard touchdown pass.
Hamstring was what I was thinking as well.
…..Me, too. He’s had an MVP kind of day.
Bromance for KJ / hope he’s ok
…..I’m worried it’s that hamstring he injured early this year.
Nothing is easy for us; nothing.
…..Auburn will have 2nd and about 15, when they get this sorted out.
….That stops the clock for Bama, with 6:21 left in the ballgame. Auburn still leads, 26-14.
…..Stidham under center, KJ, will bounce outside, and goes down for a big loss, KJ down.
….Yes!!! Damion Harris jumped over, trying to go for the block!
…..That will give Auburn a first down, if they don’t pick it up!
……Marshall back to punt. Alabama is offside!
…..4th down, clock will wind under 7 minutes before they punt.
Terrible play call.
…..3rd and 4, possession play for Auburn, KJ in the wildcat. Malik Miller in. Stidham out. Stove in motion, give Stove, will be tripped at the line.
…..2nd and 5 Auburn. Brown in. Heavy set, KJ, will stopped after a yard to the 36.
…..Auburn’s ball. At the Auburn 31. KJ on the give, will pick his way, to the 36. Clock runs.
….Foster was short!!! Auburn’s ball!
…..Tide going, again. Hurts will fire underneath, SHORTTTTTT!
…..Terrible call.5 yard penalty, 4th and 4 at the Auburn 33.
…..Review 12 men on defense. And no call on the illegal snap?
…..At worst, this should be a replay the down. Illegal substitution is not a dead ball foul, and an illegal snap is.
12 men on the field.
…..Bama was moving 3 guys, when the ball was snapped.
…..Uh oh. zebras huddling. What sort of villany are they planning?
…..Bama is in a whole heap of trouble, at this point.
…..The crowd caused that, it looked like. Two bad snaps before the QB was ready, by All-SEC center Bradley Bozeman!
….. Can I breathe, now? 9 minutes, 12 point AUBURN lead!
And Sabin says on national television WTF are you doing
….At the Alabama 39! 9:19 left in the ball game, AUBURN’s BALL! They lead, 26-14!
….4th and 9, Bama going. Bad snap again, and way back at the Alabma 40! AUBURN”S BALL!
Thank you students
….Back at the 38, that’s 4th down!
…..3rd and 4. Hurts has 4 wides. Low snap, Bama has to cover it!
…..at the Auburn 33, 2nd and 4. Trips right. Hurts will be flushed, has to throw another one away!
…..At the Auburn 39. HUrts will give to Harris, will fight for about 6.
…..3rd an 8. Ridley in motion. Hurts flushed, will run, has the first down, and then some at the Auburn 39.
….Atkinson wiht good coverage.
…..2nd and 8. Hurts has time, misses the tight end.
They’re not yelling enough in the student section
…..New set of downs. Three wides, give Harris, got two.
…..The counter, again.
….3rd and 2 Tide. Substitution. Here’s Hurts will run, has the first down to the 42.
…..2nd and 9. Here’s three wides, fires to Ridley, dropped a couple short on the curl.
…..Tide starts at their 25. Hurts with one back and a tight end. Draw, nothing doing!
…..Carlson to kick off. Jacobs and Diggs deep. This one is WAY back, no returning that one!
…..Officials botched that every way they could. Auburn scored on the left side, and they moved the PAT back to the right hash. Gus was arguing about that, to no avail.
….So, with 12:49 left, Auburn holds a 26-14 lead over Bama.!
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
….that was a tackle eligible play, and Bama wasn’t buying it.
…..Auburn back on the field, and another huddle. Official in there again. Weird look. Rolls right, has to throw it away.
…..I was frantically typing on that keeper touchdown, and my whole browser just disappeared and would not come back up, for a minute or so. It could not handle the excitement!
Wow on the TD and the drive.
….I think the official messed that up. Auburn wanted to snap it quick and have Harris lead it, and the official got in the huddle and held up the play.
….Huddle. And Auburn calls time. Weird formation shown, there. Jalen Harris was in the backfield.
….Tigers going for two? With 12:49 left in the ball game, Auburn leads, 26-14.
Wow Stidham looks like he’s running in slo-mo, but War Eagle! Shove it, shove it across that line!
…..My browser crashed, but Stidham kept for the score!!!!
…..1st and 10. Pistol set. Motion by Davis. KJ, will bull to the 16!
…..2nd and 8, huddle. Wildcat, Stidham, will hit Davis, to the Tide 20!!!!!!
……New set of downs. At the Tide 48, Wildcat. Fake to Martin, KJ, will slash to the 46.
….Two backs for Stidham. Barrett in motion, KJ, will break tackles, to midfield!!!
….1st and 10 Tigers at their own 37, to start the 4th quarter.
…..Auburn has 330 total yards to this point, against the vaunted Tide defense.
They came away with nothing on that fake punt / looks like they’ll have to drive toward the Auburn student section in the 4Q
…..That was a low snap on the FG attempt, but then JK Scott muffed it, picked it up, ran backwards and threw to Pappanostos, but well short. What a break for Auburn!
…..What a quarter! Auburn took an early SHOT from Bama, but answered with 10 unanswered points. Then, a red zone stop of the Tide!
….No, 1st and 10. That’s the end of the third quarter. Auburn leads, 20-14!
…..A yard short, I think.
….What an iron man! 2nd and 7. Two backs. Davis in motion. Stidham rolls, fires, diving grab Davis at the stake!
Dodged a bullet there.
…..Give KJ, to the 28.
….Auburn takes over at the 25. Wheeeewwww!
…..Bad snap, Scott…. throws well short! Auburn’s ball!
….Field goal team in for Bama. Papanostos, from 35 yards.
….Call: INCOMPLETE! 4th down!
…..Surely they will overturn the catch.
…..That’s on the ground before the hands had control.
….That’s a trap all the way.
……Replay? I think the ball hit the gournd.
……3rd and 9, now. Two backs, three wides. Motion out. Steps up, scrambling, tipped…caught TD Bama. Wow.
……3rd and 4. Hurts will have a tight end and two backs in there. Flag, delay of game!
…..2nd and 10. Hurts will Dumped to Jacobs underneath, to the Auburn 13.
Yep, the fix is in.
……Pistol set. Hurts will run, and has to throw it up into the hedges.
…..Give Jacobs, and he will break inside the 20 after a missed tackle.
….Give Jacobs, to the 23.
…. 15 yards, new set of downs at the Tiger 29.
…..Won’t call it on Bama. No problem calling it on Auburn.
……1st and 15 for the Tide. HUrts will have twins each side. Motion. Rolls right, will go deep, flag.
……Backs to the wall, for the Auburn defense. Alabama jumped!
….To the 40 of Auburn. Wow. Terrible tackling, off a terrible kickoff.
…..Here’s Carlson to kick off. This one is to the bobbled at the ten, Diggs, will get away.
Hopefully both are ready. Johnson’s been the workhorse for too long
…..Carry on, Wayward Son, blasting from the jumbotron.
……He headed straight to the medical tent, too. Kam and Malik, you’re next up!
Johnson looks hurt
…..Carlson is up and good, with 3:02 left in the third, Auburn retakes the lead! 20-14!
…..Give KJ, will SCORE!
…..3rd and a yard. Wildcat. Fake to martin, KJ will get the first down, hit hard out of bounds, again nO flag!
……2nd and 8. Tega in as an extra lineman. Under center. Give Stove, will dive to the five, to the three!!!
…..New set of downs. Here’s two backs, three wides. Give to KJ, to the ten.
Not a fan of KJ at wildcat on so many downs
…..Caught ’em in a stunt.
……2nd and 8. Twins each side. Draw up the middle, Stidham is down to the 12!
……New set of downs. At the 27. Wildcat. KJ will fight for two.
…..3rd and 7 Tigers. 4 wides. Motion in. Stidham steps up, runs!!! has the first.
…..2nd and 7. Changing the play, substituting. Three wides. Davis in motion. Stidham under duress, thrown away.
….Give KJ, drags to the 36.
…..To the Bama 40!
……Stidham will fire to Davis, loose!!!!!!
…..3rd and 5, in comes the dime package for Bama.
…..2nd and 9. Trips left, give KJ, for three.
…..Coach is stubborn…
…..Tigers with the pistol set, and a tight end. Davis in motion. Give KJ, only a yard.
…..We have 8:08 left in the third, with Alabama leading 14-13. Tigers begin the drive at the 32.
…..Auburn HAS to do better on first down, this drive. Back to the screens, please?
….Tigers got a much needed 3 and out!
…..Scott will boom a towering one, fair caught Davis at the Auburn 32.
…..Twin returners deep, Davis and Roberts.
….Two yards short!
…..3rd and 5, possession play. Hurts in the gun will change the play. Trips right, motion. Swing, Scarboroough, dumped by Roberts!
…..2nd and 5. Same look, tripped in the backfield, no gain!
……1st and 10 Tigers. Three wides, two backs. Scarborough, 5 yards on the give.
….Some pushing and shoving… seen a lot of that, earlier in the day.
…..Here’s the boot on the second try by Carlson, it is 3 yards deep, Jacobs comes out. Spilled at the 23…
…..Let’s hope the defense got adjusted, during that drive.
Needed points, got points.
…..If we are going to throw out of the pocket on 2nd or 3rd and long, we need Tega in there. They are going right around Darius James and Austin Golson. Golson and Cox had a double team block on Minka Fitzpatrick, and still could not stop him.
…..With 10:12 left in the 3rd, it’s Alabama 14, Auburn 13.
…..IN comes Carlson. A 44 yard attempt. It’s GOOOD!
…..3rd and 9. THree wides, two backs. Stidham under the gun. Will throw another one away.
…..2nd and 9. Two backs. Here’s Stidham will time, throws it away.
…..At the Tide 29. Give KJ, nothing.
looked like facemask as well
…..Evans on the foul, for ripping the helmet off after Stidham was down.
…..What’s the call? Personal foul, 32 Defense!
……Flag, Stidham’s helmet ripped off.
……1st and 10 Tigers. Stidham will be sacked, at the 44 of Bama.
…….1st and 5 at the Tide 47. Davis in motion again. Fires to Davis, dodging, has another first down!
…..Wallace just tackled Slayton. No call.
….To the 48, going deep, contact again???? Substitution on Bama.
…..3rd and 3 Auburn, possession play. Blitz coming. Davis in motion. Will fire to Hastings, got it!
…..Moses comes up limping, for the Tide.
…..2nd and 5. Stidham will scramble out, will get a yard, maybe.
……1st and 10 Tigers. Two backs. Give KJ, to the 26!
Yep, unless a miracle happens this game is over.
……Here’s JK Scott to kick off. short… from the one. Igbinoghene to the 22.
…..It is often said that the first two drives of the second half will tell the tale. Can Auburn answer that drive?
UA looked like they did in the 4th versus State. Just ran all over them and us.
…..Had one swing pass to start, and the rest of that drive was just handoffs and drive blocking.
……Here’s the PAT by Papanostos, and with 13:22 left in the third quarter, Alabama has their first lead of the day, 14-10.
…..Tigers just run slap over, that drive.
……Give Scarborough will go all the wayj.
…..2nd and 9. Fake, give Scarborough, breaking tackles, to the Auburn 22.
…..1st and 10, Harris again, got only 2. Bama used the sideline on those first two plays, as predicted.
…..New set of downs. Give Harris, all the way out to midfield, loose to the Auburn 36.
…..Ran by Tray Matthews again.
…..1st and 10 Bama. Motion to the right, swings to Harris, out of bounds at the 33.
…..The boot goes 5 yards deep, jacobs brings it out, and finished off at the 21!
……Daniel Carlson will kick off, and he’ll have a slight breeze at this back.
…..Gus says, “we just need to run the ball.”
If Auburn keeps s******g the bed like this and getting jobbed by the refs, this game will be unwinnable. Gus is historically awful after half and saban is at his best then
…..On offense, I’d expect Bama to try to use the sideline more, this half, with some quicker throws and speed sweeps. They will have the ball first.
…..None of those no calls was a game-changer, though. No guarantee we’d have gotten a TD after the interference penalty.
…..Thus far, 3 glaring no-calls by the officiating crew. The first was Nick Saban 15 yards out onto the field after a Bama 3 ‘n’ out. Second was a blatant pass interference no-call on a bomb towards Darius Slayton. Finally, Bama ran into kicker Daniel Carlson, and that wasn’t flagged, either.
…..Kerryon Johnson has 55 rushing yards on the day, 21 receiving yards, and a touchdown pass.
…Ryan Davis has 7 catches for Auburn, for 74 yards.
…..Some were questioning whether Auburn could cover Calvin Ridley. Answer thus far? 1 catch, 5 yards.
…..A single turnover for each team, each on the quarterback. Auburn has a big yardage advantage, but it only translated to 3 points. Alabama will receive, to start the second half.
…..No call on Alabama running into Carlson, either.
…..At the half, Auburn leads Alabama, 10-7!
…..Carlson and co. line it up again. Place, up and GOOOOOOD!
…..This is chip-shot distance, for Daniel Carlson, about 33 yards.
…..Saban can do this twice more, if he wants.
……Gonna try to ice him. Timeout Bama, with 5 seconds left in the half.
……Saban letting the clock run? Wow.
…..3rd and 8. Stidham will have big pressure, blitz coming. Fires over the middle, way short at the 16.
…..Tigers HAVE to get points out of this drive. They are ahead in total yardage by 214 to 128 for Bama, but it’s still tied, thanks to a lost snap at the 4, earlier.
….Timeout Tigers. It’s a 7-7 tie ball game.
……3rd and 8. Clock winds under a minute, and it finally stops at 48 seconds.
….Without Chandler Cox in there, that was a wasted play call.
…..2nd and 8. Huddle. Under center, give KJ, nothing.
…..new set of downs. Keeper, Stidham will get to the 20.
…..3rd and 6, possession play, fires over the middle, Ryan Davis! Down to the 22!
…..2nd and 6. Cox comes out. 4 wides, bobbled snaps, goes deep, and bama gets by with tripping Slayton.
…..Stove in motion. Give to KJ, gets to the Bama 45.
….Auburn has 3:01 left in the half, and a chance to do some more damage.
…..Scott to punt it away. Returnable, but Roberts will fair catch at the Auburn 49.
…..Had the matchup the Tide wanted, but Peters was having none of it!
…..Jordyn Peters, on the hit!
….Brings up third and 4. Hurts fakes, fade, knocked away!
…..2nd and 9 Tide. Hurts in the gun. Here’s Scarborough again, to the seven.
……Here’s a give to Scarborough, got a yard.
…..Let’s see what Alabama can do from their two.
….Tide pinned deep. Can Auburn get a stop?
….Best punt of the year!
……Marshall will kick high, hits at the one… DOWNED!
….In comes Aiden Marshall to punt.
…..Not even close to the first.
…..3rd and 12 for Auburn. Trips right. 3 man front. Steps up, will run, hit…
…..2nd and 14. Pistol set now, for Stidham back in the game. Motion across, give KJ, only a couple.
……Willis in? Wildcat. Willis fakes, and he’s spilled for 4 yard loss.
…..2nd and 3. Wildcat. KJ will keep, left will get the first down!
…..1st and 10, Tigers moving. KJ, will break out, across midfield!
……Give to KJ, will break tackles, to the 43!
…..New set of downs!
…..2nd and 9. Trips left. Stidham fires to Davis, close.
…..Auburn takes over. Give to KJ, will get maybe one.
……JK Scott to kick off. Pooch kick, will hit at the 15, Igbinoghene, will go out around the 23.
….Alabama looked like they were running that quarterback counter, then Hurts dropped back and launched one. I think the secondary thought the play was over.
Those missed three points would be nice right now.
Dinson was asleep at the wheel
…..PAT is up and good, and with 8:31 left in the half, this game is tied at 7-all.
…..Jeudy with a good catch.
…..Dinson turned around, looking the wrong way.
…..New set of downs. Hurts will have trips left. Drops, and goes deep, touchdown.
…..Here’s Hurts on the keeper, will get outside, to the 36.
…..Bama going, looks like.
…..a yard short.
….3rd and about 3. Hurts will give to Jacobs, not gonna get it!
…..2nd and 8 Bama. Trips into the boundary, keeper, to the 41.
….Hurts with the pistol set. Give to Harris, not much.
……New set of downs at the Auburn 48.
….2nd and 5. Double twins, keeper, will break tackles, and get 7.
….Jacobs, not Harris.
…..Alabama 1st and 10. Hurts in the gun. Give to Harris, gets 5 up the gut.
…..Punting from the 22. Marshall will have time, will kick it low, fair caught at the Alabama 39.
….Marshall in to punt. And Auburn jumps. Ouch.
….As I suspected, they went man, and blitzed like crazy.
…..3rd and 5. Stidham will have twins each side. Motion in. Blitz, hit… incomplete.
…..2nd and 10. Trips left, pumps, will run, to the 27.
…..Darius James got beat badly on that one.
…..Tigers on first down. Stidham has trips left. Will be hit, flipped it to KJ, and he fights back to the line of scrimmage. Wow.
…..TIgers will start the next drive at their 22, with 13:38 left in the half. Auburn leads -Alabama, 7-0.
……Roberts needs to calm down and play smart.
…..That should have been fielded. We lost 20 yards on that bounce.
…..Roberts drops deep. J. K. Scott will launch one, bounces high, to the AUburn 22.
….Unsportmanlike on Roberts and Ridley, offsetting.
…..Maybe they’ll get Saban, on the field for the nth time?
…..Flag on the Alabama sideline?
……3rd and 6 Tide, at the 13. Twins each side. Motion by Riddley, flushed, will roll left, fires, NO! 3 and out!
……2nd and 6. Hurts will have two backs. Pistol set. Noise, clock winds.. fake, Hurts runs, and throws it out of bounds.
…..Motion out for the Tide, Hurts keeps, for about 4.
…..25 plays for AUburn, in the first quarter. Also, Ryan Davis already has 4 catches, breaking the season record of 60, formerly held by Darvin Adams.
Each of those fumbles have been close to the goal line.
something like that
…..Auburn is able to mismatch the Bama coverage on the edge, but I’d expect Saban to switch to more combo man and 3 deep zones, and try to keep Stidham from reading things as well.
Isn’t that the third QB center fumble this season?
That will quiet the crowd
…..Had a golden opportunity at the Bama 4, and blew it with a careless turnover.
…..That ends the first quarter, with Auburn leading 7-0.
….At the nine yard line. Wow. Gotta quit doing that!
……3rd and goal Tigers. Trips left again. Stidham will drop the snap, and Alabama recovers.
…..2nd and goal at the 4 for Auburn. Trips left. Stidham will drop, will throw it off the hands of slayton.
….First and goal. Here’s a give to KJ< to the 4.
….fIRST and ten. Rolling right, will fire to Davis at the ten, to the 6!!!
…..3rd and 4. Rolling left, will fire, Davis at the 19!
…..Give to KJ, will lean forward down to the 27, I think.
…..At the Tide 31, 2nd and 8. Two backs Auburn. Stidham will change his play.
……New set of downs. KJ up the gut, fights for two.
……Brown knocked it loose. Huddle, breaking out. Here’s a screen to KJ, will break loose, to the 33!
……Tre’ WIlliams with the recovery at the Tide 44!
…..2nd and 27 for the Tide. Trips right. Here’s Hurts, will scramble, fumbles… TIGERS HAVE IT!
…..Bac at the Tide 44, 1st and 23. Fake, scrambling, Hurts goes out for a loss of 4!
……Back Bama up, illegal block below the waist!
……Chop block, I think.
…..at the Auburn 43. Hurts dumps to Scarborough, flag?
…..Same play Monroe ran on us.
…..Tide will operate from the 40. Fake to Scarborough, Hurts gets loose for 15.
….that’s on Javaris Davis, new set of downs.
…..2nd and 11. Hurts will drop, goes deep, flag. Trying to hit Ridley deep.
….Lost a yard.
…..1st and 10 Bama at the 25. Hurts with trips right. Blitz coming. Draw, buried!
…..Daniel Carlson to kick off. Here’s the boot, and it will go to the back line, touchback.
…..And that stadium is going nuts!
…..Auburn kept hitting those screens. Alabama backed Minkah Fitzpactrick back out of the box, and then the Auburn line really showed some push, down inside the ten! That bodes well, going forward!
….Oh, man! EVERY tide defender was in the box, for that one. Kerryon with the touchdown pass!
…..Carlson, GOOD! With 4:38 left in the first, Auburn leads Alabama, 7-0!!!
….To Nate Craig Myers, wide open! TOUCHDOOOOOOOWN, AUBURN!!!!
…..3rd and 2, Wildcat. Kerryon Johnson takes, and will keep, jump pass!
……Here come the Tigers! Three wides. Davis in motion, give KJ, will bull to the three!
….stidham is 9 of 10 passing on the day, for 83 yards. The one miss was a dropped ball. Nickel and diming them to death on the edge…
….With 5:22 left in the first quarter, it’s a scoreless iron bowl. Auburn called their first timeout, in a scoreless game. Tigers threatening at the seven, however.
…..2nd and 6 aat the 7. Stidham looks ’em over. Stove in motion, time called.
……New set of downs. Here’s the give to KJ, to the seven!!!!!
…..Will bring up 3rd and 6. Twins each side. CM in motion. Screen to KJ, will go to the 11!!!!!
…..2nd and 10. Stidham has two backs, under center, fake, will fire, Harris on the grab, not much.
…..1st and 10 Tigers. Screen to Stove, no gain.
….Down at the 25!
…..New set of downs. Twins, screen to Slayton, loose!
…..3rd and 9. Two backs. Stidham will fire down the middle deep, across midfield! Craig Myers!
…..2nd and 9. Under center. Rolls, will fire left, C-Myers with the dropped ball.
…..New set of downs. Fake to KJ, will keep, buried no gain.
…..2nd and 6 Tigers. Stidham will give to Kerryon Johnson, to the 25!
….From the six. Fake, screen to Davis, to the ten. Broke tackles.
…..Alabama knocked out a couple of first downs, then patiently flipped field position. Scoreless game, with 9:32 left in the first quarter of the Iron Bowl.
…..That was a good, backspinning punt by Scott. Roberts had little choice but to let that go.
……Scott will punt it. Roberts lets it hit at the 5, downed at the 6.
…..JK Scott and co. coming in.
….Roberts got him a couple of inches short.
…..3rd and 4. Keeper Hurts, close…
…..2nd and 5. Trips right, motion in. Give HaRRIS
……1st and 10 Bama at their 43. Hurts with time, will fire to Riddley on the quick out, down immediately at the 48.
……Ran by Tray Matthews.
…..2nd and 10. Two receivers each side. Hurts will swing to Foster, will get 11.
……New set of downs. Twin backs with Hurts in the gun, Fake, will throw it to the Alabama bench.
…..2nd and 2 Bama. Hurts will swing pass, to Harris, got to the 31.
…..Give to Harris, will get about 8.
…..Dinson and Tre’ Williams are in the game for Auburn.
…..Now, can the Auburn defense slow down Alabama and Jalen Hurts?
…..Auburn had some minimal success on quick screens, but ran into trouble trying to run it up the gut when the blockers were outnumbered, on that possession.
…..We have 12:24 left in a scoreless first quarter, and the first endless CBS commercial break begins.
…..High punt, will be fair caught at the Bama 14.
…..Aiden Marshall to punt, Diggs deep.
…..In comes the punting unit.
…..Stidham has twins to each side. Cox in motion in. Time. Will scamble, will be a yard short.
…..That will bring up 3rd and 11.
……2nd and 7. Stove in motion. Give KJ, dumped for a big loss.
…..New set of downs at the 36. Screen to Slayton, got about 3 into the near boundary.
…..2nd and 9. Trips right, fires to Davis, will get hit on the sideline, first down!
…..Here’s a spread set, trips left, motion in by Cox. Screen to slayton, nothing doin.
…..Tigers will start at the 25.
…..Here’s the boot, and the Iron Bowl is on! The ball travels to the end zone, barely. Touchback.
You are correct in that both Auburn Arena and Plainsman Park are showing the game. We left our stuff setup so that people can stay and watch.
And, yes, LOUD!!
…..Deep for the Tigers, Kam Martin and Noah Igbinoghene.
…..J. K. Scott will tee it up, and this one will shortly be underway.
…..Alabama has won the toss, and will defer.
…..Coin toss is imminent.
…..A chorus of boos greet the Crimson Tide as they exit the tunnel.
…..Wolverines throw a pick, and Ohio State can run this one out. They’ll beat Michigan, 24-20.
It’s rolling baby
…..Price did have to twist in the wind for a day or two back in Tuscaloosa, before he was let loose!
…..They had 3rd and one, and a chance to run the rest of the clock down, but tried to convert a third and one on a shotgun handoff, with three wides. Snuffed for a loss, natch.
…..Buckeyes with the long field goal, misssssseeed!
Actually, I think Mike Price originally went down in Pensacola
…..Ohio State leads Michigan 24-20, clock just under 6 minutes. Wolverines are trying to get the ball back, one last time.
…..Here’s the eagle flight, and Spirit buzzes the student section!
…..Locally here in the Tragic City, UAB leads UTEP late, 28-7. Coach Mike Price goes down in the state of Alabama, again! Kudos to UAB on their first season back. I’ll look forward to seeing what bowl they reach.
…..To quote Jason Campbell on the radio a few minutes ago, “If you are in pads for this game, you’re gonna play!”
…..As to Auburn, it also seems to be that Jeremiah Denson has passed the concussion protocols this week, and will start at nickelback.
…..The morning SEC games seem to be mostly decided, late. Here are some 4th quarter scores:
Georgia 38, Ga. Tech 7
Louisville 44, Ky 10
Florida State 31, Florida 16
…..It may not really be the case, but the official site is listing Tre’ Williams as a starter at linebacker, and Darius James at right tackle, Golson at left tackle.
…..Now the Auburn band is out, and we’ll have the pregame show.
…..Special teams warmups underway in Auburn! Shockingly, the stadium looks pretty full, an hour from kickoff!
….They take a Louisville TD off the board, and that score is actually 37-10, at the end of the third.
…..Some 3rd quarter scores…
Louisville 41, Ky 14. Embarrassing.
Florida State 24, UF 16. Gators hanging around.
Georgia 31, Georgia Tech 7.
….It would help Auburn, though. I can see national folks passing a 2 loss Auburn team over, for a 2 loss Buckeye team. They did it to Penn State, last year.
Td Michigan. Crap, i could see a one loss Alabama get in the playoff If osu loses and then wins the B10.
…..Georgia scores again. WIth a 31-7 lead, they can rest the starters for the Championship down the road, next week.
…..I’m hearing that not only is Auburn Arena going to be open with the game on the big screen, but they are opening Plainsman Park up for the game, too. Must be a huge crowd on hand, in Auburn.
…..I don’t see doing alternate uniforms, if you can’t read the numbers, they get away from your regular school colors, AND they don’t look as good as your regular uniforms.
….I don’t really oppose alternate uniforms now and then. However, the fad seems to trend towards gray, and other hard to see colors. They don’t have the players’ names on those, most of the time. And the trim is usually either minimal, or non-existent.
…..I’d rather see UGA lose, and have some doubts going into Atlanta. However, it helps Auburn’s strength of schedule, if they have a better record. Especially if Auburn then beats them twice.
The Ohio State uniforms are atrocious. Why would you wear gimmick uniforms for one of the biggest traditional rivalries in football?
We need UGA to win, correct?
…..Turn out the lights, in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia starts the second half with a stop, then drives for a touchdown. The Bulldogs lead Georgia Tech, 24-7. I’m not seeing the Tech wishbone able to play from that far behind…
…..Plain Old Fashioned Hate… Michigan came into the ‘Shoe, and took a 14-0 lead. However, a few quarterback runs have opened things up for Ohio State. The game is tied at 14-14, at the half.
Yeah, the Georgia defense looked really, really bad on that GT TD pass.
…..We are a little under 2 hours from Iron Bowl kickoff! A few halftime SEC scores:
Georgia 17, Georgia Tech 7.
Louisville 31, Kentucky 10
Florida State 24, Florida 13.
…..They had man to man coverage on twin receivers. The two receivers criss-crossed, and both defenders took the inside guy. The split end was WIDE open for the touchdown. After the play, you could see the two Georgia players pointing fingers at each other! Hilarious!
…..Tech scores, and the Georgia lead is cut to 14-7 near the half. I was laughing at the two Georgia pass defenders, on that one.
…..It’s a tough day for the SEC vs. the ACC. Georgia is winning 14-0 over G. Tech, but Florida is down 24-7 at home to FSU, and Kentucky is getting thumped at home by Louisville, by the same score.
…..Three SEC games have finished the first quarter.
Georgia 7, Georgia Tech 0
Louisville 17, Kentucky 7
Florida State 14, Florida 7, early in the 2nd quarter.
…..The Pacific Ocean keeps temps down. Drive ten miles inland, and it goes up to 70 and beyond, quickly.
We were in Santa Monica a few years ago in JULY and it never got above 60!
I would love to go on a cruise to Alaska! That might be doable in the next few years, lol.
…..Should be a fun trip, but dress warm! We did California’s Central Coast last May the week before Memorial Day, and our high temperature on the beach was 55 degreesF.
On my wife’s bucket list is a cruise to Alaska – so, for her Christmas, I booked a 7-day cruise to Alaska in mid-June with 2 days each in Vancouver before and after. It doesn’t interfere with Auburn football so I’m good with it. I’ve known about how badly she wants to go so I’ve been saving for about 3 years. She has earned it, trust me!!
…..Things getting chippy in Kentucky. Lamar Jackson and a teammate got into a shoving match with a couple of Kentucky players, and 4 personal fouls were assessed!
…..Florida State takes an early 7-0 over Florida, and Louisville leads over Kentucky by the same score.
…..Georgia 7, Georgia Tech 0. Georgia dominating up front.
…..The bad thing is that Jake Fromm has thrown into coverage twice, and the Jackets dropped it both times.
…..A very Pat Dye play, for Georgia. Ran a draw, hit in the backfield, on 3rd and 6. However, Michel would not go down, and the Jackets could not tackle. First down.
…..No worries about Georgia, today. They appear to be MUCH more powerful on both lines of scrimmage, than Georgia Tech, early. Jackets appear tight, and mistake-prone, too.
…..The rest of the Gameday crew picked Bama. And yes, Corso looks really silly with an elephant head on!
…..Charles’ pick? “In 2003, it was the Kick-six. Today, it’s the Kick-_ss!”
…..Charles Barkley is on Gameday, wearing a white Auburn football jersey, number 34!
….The UCF schedule was Florida International, at Maryland, Memphis, at Cincinnati, East Carolina, at Navy, Austin Peay, at SMU, UConn, at Temple, and South Florida. One power-5 game, and the Terrapins were one of the worst teams in the B1G, this year.
…..UCF’s problem is the schedule. The Committee really looks at that. UCF’s best win is probably beating Maryland, 38-10.
I agree that it is a shame, I just don’t think it would necessarily be a good match up with any of the other teams in the playoffs. If they expanded it to maybe a 6-8 team play off, then it would allow for the other conferences (assuming an undefeated season scenario) to have at least a chance to play for it.
…..My guess is that despite being undefeated, the Playoff committee likely won’t even consider Central Florida. And, Nebraska fired Mike Riley this morning, and is already hard at work trying to lure UCF head Scott Frost home to Nebraska, where Frost was once a star quarterback.
…..I would hate to be a Central Florida fan, right now. They just completed a 12-0 regular season, and are odds-on favorites to win the C-USA title game. However…
…..We did a cruise to the Yucatan back in 2006. It was tremendously fun! I’m guessing ship wi-fi is a lot better, these days. When we cruised, we had to take the laptop down to an internet cafe, and pay something like $25 for 10 minutes. And it was basically dial-up speed.
On a cruise ship heading back to Tampa from Mexico. Hoping their internet will be good enough to stream the game as they don’t seem to be showing it anywhere on the ship! War Eagle everyone!
…..Mike Riley is out, after a disastrous year at Nebraska. That program has fallen a long, long way in the past two decades.
…..Now, we’ll just have to see if he can get quarterback Josh Rosen to come back for his senior year.
……Chip Kelly has apparently been hired at UCLA. Wow.
…..Healthy! Heh. Sign on the day on gameday? Something to the effect of “if Rece Davis can get into the University of Alabama, anyone can!”
Envy yall at the game. Haven’t been to an Iron Bowl since 03. I’ll be yelling with the kids from San Diego. War Eagle!
I did coffee at 4:30 ET this morning and then a cup on the drive down. Got the 6 tents, generator, satellite and TV set up and now Bloody Mary time! (I have celery and pickled green beans to make it healthy.)
…..Biscuits! I’m having coffee, toast, a sliced tomato, and a couple of Publix feta cheese/spinach chicken sausages.
Tailgate next to us won some type of contest and Chik-Fil-A delivered 50 chicken biscuits. They only have about 12 people so they shared with quite a few!
…..Time for some breakfast and some Gameday!
…..It’s really a bonus that Gameday is broadcasting from Auburn. They are set up on the lawn in front of Samford Hall, and there’s quite a crowd out there!
It’s a great day here in Auburn! Weather, as you state, is perfect.
WAR EAGLE!! Let’s do this!
I hope Auburn won’t spot UAT a td like they did UGA.
…..I tend to pay a bit of extra attention to games in Texas. I was born in Ft. Worth, Texas…
…..I’ve missed a lot of action, this fall. This holiday weekend, I got to see a great dog fight of a game in the Egg Bowl Thursday night. Yesterday, it was Arkansas and Missouri going toe to toe all day. I was in and out on that game, trying to get a few things done around the house. Friday night, I had a good time watching Texas Tech and Texas, as the Red Raiders came back and stunned the Longhorns 27-23 at the end.
…..And we are live! It has been a fantastic, long college football weekend, and the best is yet to come!
About Acid Reign:.....Still making noise after all these years! Lifetime slacker, dreamer, and miscreant with a knack for calculation. I was born in the United State of Texas, but have spent the majority of my years here amongst the shaded hills of the Tragic City, enjoying glorious smog-enhanced sunsets. In a troubled county, I live in a little slice of paradise between the ridges of Red and Shades Mountains. I've been an obsessive Auburn football follower since the Punt-Bama-Punt days, and have seen a lot of great football on the Plains. This lazy shirker finally learned the value of hard work and persistence from the fine folks in Auburn, and enjoys his return visits immensely! Hobbies include guitar-playing (or really just making loud and weird noise on any sort of instrument or object), cooking, computers, tennis, and old-school pen and paper RPGs. I love getting together with a good drink, great family, and friends..... (Acid Reign is Track ’Em Tigers’ Senior Editor). View Profile →
