Being reported on ESPN…

That Dan Quinn is going back to the NFL.  Quinn served as Will Muschamp’s DC at Florida for the last two seasons.  He had done pretty well there.  Florida will promote the linebacker coach, DJ Durkin, to lead the defense.  Well, actually, Muschamp stated that both he and DJ would lead the defense.

You gotta love that DJ.  To me that means Muschamp doesn’t have any confidence in you.

Quinn is going back to the Seattle Seahawks to work for the cheater… Pete Carroll.

Best of luck Dan!

The question that will remain… especially after the bowl game is… how good is Florida?

They certainly didn’t impress me in their bowl game. How about you?

What does this mean to this team that was the challenger to Georgia and South Carolina in the East?

…..Florida’s pretty talented on defense, but they do take early NFL departure blows every year. I suspect they’ll be fine, there. I’m curious to see what Brent Pease’s offense does in year 2. That Boise system is one that takes a while to implement.

Florida finished the year 5th overall in total defense and scoring defense. Granted that is playing against what I assume were cupcakes in OOC games aside from FSU and then in conference they faced powerhouses in the east like kentucky, vandy, mizzou, and UT. Somehow they managed to beat LSU and TAMU in the west though. They were absolutely terrible in the bowl game, but I think that was more the result of just not wanting to be there. They thought if georgia beat bama that just maybe they could backdoor into the BSC championship game and when that didn’t happen they decided to go on vacation in N’awlins instead of playing like it meant something. See Utah/Bama game a few years back. As far as how they’ll fare next season under a new DC…we’ll see.

PS: Teddy Bridgewater is really good though. After seeing that game I better understood why Shawn Watson’s (Louisville OC) name surfaced early in the AU coach search. He must be good at developing QBs!
