Bama biased B’ham News Junk!

By on March 7th, 2009 in Football Comments Off

If you ever wanted evidence that the News guys are pro Bama and anti Auburn, today’s Ray Melick tripe certainly makes it clear! Melick calls on the US fans at this weekend’s Davis Cup to use Bama’s favorite jeer:

” Something like throwing down a little “Rammer Jammer” on the visiting team wouldn’t necessarily be out of order, especially since the visiting team would probably not understand the words anyway.”

Yeah, that would show the Swiss how classy Birmingham is! Right… Meanwhile, in the same newspaper, hack Jon Soloman complains about a Swiss press guy letting out a short cheer when Stanislas Wawrinka defeated James Blake. Can’t have it both ways, guys!

Meanwhile, after two days, the US is ahead, 2-1, with the Bryan twins taking down Wawrinka and Allegro, in 4 sets. It was a packed house at the Civic Center, today, and the yells of “USA! USA! USA!” send chills up and down my back! Luckily, Melick and Co. did not have their way. No Rammer Jammer anywhere to be heard!

As an aside… be glad, SEC football fans, that the league bans artificial noise makers! After two days of listening to an arena full of plastic duck calls, and cardboard clappers, I long for the lungs of the SEC! And if Birmingham mayor Larry Langford is SO eager to spend money, how about some new speakers for the BJCC? No one in the upper deck could understand more than one word out of every sentence…
