Auburn’s Offensive Line

By on December 11th, 2012 in Member Post 2 Comments »

I’ve been mulling over the personnel currently on roster and have a workable bunch to start for Gus.

WR Sammie Coates, TE Brandon Fulse, C Reese Dismukes, TE CJ Uzomah

RB Tre Mason, FB Jay Prosch, QB Jonathan Wallace (incumbent on QB competition in Spring).

That leaves question marks at guard and tackle. Any suggestions?

…..I’m figuring junior Chad Slade, and sophomore Christian Westerman at guards. Sophomore Greg Robinson is entrenched at left tackle. I’d expect a spirited battle between true sophomores Patrick Miller and Avery Young at right tackle. Auburn has depth in numbers on the O-line, too, and you might see some other names pop up.

……Out off all the offensive and defensive players, the O-line did the best last season, I thought. Only unit better on the team was the placekicking group. Sure, the freshman starters got pushed around at times, and we had some whiffed blocks on the corner, but that actually got better as the season progressed. Might be the ONLY thing that got better, too!

Acid, when I read this I thought of you. This link was posted by some guys over at ITAT. They were talking about possible OL coaches. Herb Hand was mentioned and this link pointing out his aggressive philosophy.

The website is similar to Smart Football in that they discuss X’s and O’s and coaching.
