to seventh place on the Tigers all-time list with 1,005.

Sarah Bullock had 16 kills and 15 digs Sunday against Alabama.

The third largest crowd to ever watch a volleyball game at Auburn University, witnessed the Tigers defeat Alabama this past weekend. It marked the sixth consecutive victory over the Tide; the second- longest winning streak over Alabama going back to 1974. Auburn won 10 straight from 1995-99.

Auburn Coach Rick Nold gave the fans a lot of credit for the win, “It’s a big thing for us to have a big crowd like we did today. A big crowd pumps up our team when they’re struggling a bit and can propel them forward. That kind of crowd, it makes a big difference for us.”

At 12-2 (3-1 SEC), Auburn is off to a fast start. The Tigers have already passed their 11 total victories of the 2011 season.

Against Alabama Sunday, Auburn held every statistical category in the match. The Tigers out hit the Tide .287 to .171, won the digs battle 69-55, and totaled  62 kills to Alabama’s 47. The Tigers had 15 total blocks including eight team blocks in the fourth set to win 25-18 and clinch the match. The 15 blocks tied a school record.

Senior Sarah Bullock continues to lead the team as she recorded 16 kills and 15 digs. She became the fifth player in Auburn history to amass 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career. Her 10th dig of the day moved her into the 1,000 -1,000 club, and her new career record of 1005 digs moves her into seventh place all-time at Auburn.

The Tigers will be on the road this weekend for two SEC matches. The first against Arkansas on Friday and the second against Kentucky on Sunday, September, 30.

Here’s to hoping the Tigers continue the same level of play in Fayetteville and Lexington. Let’s beat those Hogs and Cats!

Tigers fell behind against Arkansas. Maybe they can shut down Kentucky tomorrow.
