With their backs to the wall after dropping the first game of the Gainesville Super Regional, the Auburn baseball team downed No. 1 Florida today at McKethan Stadium. And, they did it in dramatic fashion.
Standing at the plate in the ninth inning with the score tied at 2-all and two men on, Auburn’s Luke Jarvis drove the first pitch into left center to give the Tigers a walk-off 3–2 victory over the Gators.
The Gators tied it up in the top of the 9th inning, but Jarvis came back with the game-winning single in the bottom of the frame to give Auburn the victory. It was a game the Tigers had to win to keep their College World Series hopes alive.
When pinch runner Cade Evans scored from second base, it forced a decisive third game for Monday. Auburn, 43–22, and Florida, 46–19, will face off at 7:00 CT on ESPN. The winner goes to Omaha. and the loser goes home.
