Auburn Wins Football Home Opener

Auburn officials released the 2013 football schedule today with the Tigers set to face two of the top offensive minds in the game during the first couple weeks of the season. Auburn opens with Mike Leach and the Washington State Cougars on August 31 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Things don’t get any easier for the Auburn offense in week two when Gus Malzahn and Arkansas State come calling. Unless he takes another job in the off-season, it will mark Malzahn’s first visit back to the Plains since leaving last year.

Below is the entire schedule:

August 31:  Washington State
Sept. 7:  Arkansas State
Sept. 14:  Miss State
Sept. 21:  at LSU
Sept. 28:  Open
Oct. 5:  Ole Miss
Oct. 12:  Western Carolina
Oct. 19:  at Texas A&M
Oct. 26:  Florida Atlantic
Nov. 2:  at Arkansas
Nov.9:  at Tennessee
Nov. 16:  Georgia
Nov.30:  Alabama

BRUTAL! This is probably the first time ever I would give serious thought of losing those first two “warm up” games.

Mike Leach is a good coach, he put Texas Tech on the map as of recent. With our defensive woes year after year, I worry that Leach will be tossing the pigskin all over us.
Hey! Maybe Leach is an Offensive guru to fill a vacant head coaching position at Auburn?

Just when we think we can get a breather, Malzahn will have a heyday running Auburn’s old scheme down our own throats.

Let’s not discount the momentum Miss.St. will carry into next year and then a trip into Baton Rouge before a Bye that will be much deserved early on.
