Auburn Advances in Winners Bracket, Takes Opening Game of NCAA Regional

Auburn bats came alive in the first game of the Tallahassee Regional today as the Tigers belted 13 hits to defeat University of Central Florida 7–4. Freshman Will Holland hit a one-out, three-run homer in the eighth to put the Tigers ahead 7–1, giving reliever Cole Lipscomb a comfortable cushion to work with in the ninth.
Overall, it was a complete performance for the Tigers, who committed no errors and saw Keegan Thompson put on a dominating performance. The Auburn ace struck out nine batters and gave up only four hits and two runs in eight innings.
Auburn plays again on Saturday against the winner of Friday’s game between No. 1 seed Florida State and No. 4 seed Tennessee Tech. Casey Mize will take the mound for the Tigers.
