Apparently… the rumor is true.

Mack Brown is set to resign at the end of the week.

What does this mean?

Well, for starters its apparent that Jacobs must be in with the coach’s agent (again) because normally we are behind the 8 ball.  As it turns out Malzahn just got wrapped up in a tight bow and staying at Auburn for better or worse for the next couple of years anyway.

Well, what about the news story that broke right before the iron bowl… about Nick Saban?

Sport’s fans… that is the million dollar question.

If you think bama fans gnashed their teeth and whined this past week at the loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl, the loss of the heisman trophy… AND the SEC championship only to follow it up with loss of the chance to play in the National Championship (where they were all but gauranteed a three-peat)… only to lose their coach too? Oh my….

All I can say is there is a God. And I knew He was testing me all along.

War Eagle!

Bama is reportedly in discussions with Saban on a contract extension:

What Saban should ask himself – does he want to be the towel boy for any team running the spread? Malzahn has made the statement loud and clear… this offense will stay until you stop it. Without major rule changes… I don’t see that happening.

Truth is I know Saban has stated many times that he wanted to stay at bama until he retired… truly I could care less. We have to beat bama regardless who the coach is.

Ultimately, it makes more sense to me that this would be Kirby Smart’s ticket to go get a worthy coaching job. His problem, much like Muschamp… be careful what you ask for. You can’t hang on to daddy’s coat tails forever.

Should also point out if the report is true… $7M and losing to AU regularly wouldn’t be tolerated for too long. And then, even the Mighty Nick Saban….would be shown the door. If it could happen to Mack at Texas… and Chizik at Auburn… what is there to protect Nick from the axe?

      Nothing but air.

I was surprised to learn that Mack Brown only has 2 conference championships in 15 year at UT.

Texas, USC, Notre Dame, and Clemson, are at the top of my list of perennial over hyped, underachievers.

    To quote Bama fan,
    “Where there’s smoke there’s fire!!, Where there’s smoke there’s fire!! , Where there’s smoke there’s fire!! ”

Now it does seem awful suspicious that there seems to be skullduggery afoot in regard to Mack Brown leaving, and I would definitely be nervous if I was a Bama fan, but I just can’t see Saban leaving for Texas.

I could be way off base but I just don’t think he would want to take a step back to the Big 12 and take on a fan base that is just as delusional as Bama’s.

Sure, he would be THE big dog, and he would be in control over the richest program in the country with its own TV network. But cmon, who’s he gonna play? Oklahoma?? Ok State?? Baylor?? Where’s the challenge in that?

Besides he has an extension for $7mil per year sitting on his desk to stay at Bama…..since Friday.

Wait, wha? Since Friday?? He’s had a contract for $7 mil on his desk since Friday and he’s still sittin on it??
I think Ms. Terry is fed up.

Oh yeah, Saban is definitely gone.

I hope he stays. I’ve never been overly impressed by Saban’s or his staff’s coaching ability. Recruiting is a different story…for now. Saban’s worst facet is his gameday decision making. If Tubs could split games with him, Malzahn is going to take him to school.

      • Col.Angus Col.Angus says:

I saw a stat the other day that said Saban has never beat an Auburn team that has won 9 or more games. He is 0-5 at LSU and Bama against good Auburn teams. Hopefully that will be the norm under Malzahn. If it is, maybe Saban would be better off in Texas because Turd fan won’t be able to stomach another Tiger resurgence that sticks, that 6 game win streak about killed the program.

Folks, an article on espn talking about the possibility of Saban leaving bama is real.

    Nuff said!
