A True Auburn Hero
This past week we lost a member of the Auburn Family. Sean Misner, 26, was one of the 19 firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill fires in Arizona. He briefly lived with me in Auburn and fully embodied the Auburn man. He had a spirit that was not afraid and proved it in the way he lived his life.
He was a member of the elite firefighting unit known as the “Interagency Hotshots Crews.” The Hotshots name is a reference to being in the hottest part of fires. The units are trained professionals that have an excellent reputation throughout the United States and Canada as elite teams of professional wildland firefighters.
I know the incredible resolve of our extended family and I believe at this time we need the prayers of every Auburn brother, sister, mother, father, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, and anyone who believes the words of the creed.
Sean was a man who served us all by “doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.” He made the ultimate sacrifice in serving others and he will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a true Auburn hero.
