Give the Gift of You

Pause life for just a moment
Stay the turning of the year
Set aside what hurries your day
And hold close those who are dear

If they are small, hug them twice
Soothing words to calm any fear
They are safe and with you now
Here at the ending of the year

The bells and tinsel, feasts and gifts
Are but trappings of good cheer
The substance is each other
Give the gift of you this year

Raise your voice only in laughter
Or in song of holiday cheer
Lend a hand to help when you can
And share the season’s joy this year

Build memories for the future
That they’ll cherish year to year
To all your friends and loved ones
Give the best of you this year
