Jonathan Evans becomes third commitment at linebacker
By Jay Coulter
Criticized by many for not recruiting the Mobile, Alabama area well enough last year, Auburn has wasted little time regaining a foothold on the Alabama coast. Yesterday, Auburn picked up its second recruit from the area when Prichard linebacker Jonathan Evans committed to the Tigers.
The speedy linebacker is the brother of current Auburn linebacker Chris Evans. He chose Auburn over Southern Miss, Clemson, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma State and UAB. Evans becomes the third linebacker to commit this year.
The Tigers already have commitments from linebackers Harris Gaston of Bessemer and Eltoro Freeman of Perkinston, Mississippi.
The 6 foot, 211 lbs. Evans is bigger than his older brother. He runs a 4.5 40 yard-dash. Last year he recorded 104 tackles, 10 forced fumbles, five sacks and two interceptions.
