Alabama fans might not respect anyone that comes from Auburn but there is at least one person of national reputation that believes having Auburn on your resume is a plus for a job opening.
Last week Mack Brown of Texas (who has hired Auburn people in the past) tried hard to lure Auburn Offensive Line Coach Jeff Grimes away from the Plains. Since he failed in that move he went to plan B, namely hire another man with an Auburn background.
It seems that when the highest paid head coach in the country needs to fill openings in his staff, that he invariably looks for coaches with Auburn connections. Former Auburn great Stacey Searels who has coached at Georgia the last few years has announced hehas accepted Mack Brown’s offer to be the new OL coach for the Longhorns. Searles was an All American under Pat Dye in the 1980′s and blocked for Bo Jackson and Brent Fulwood.
Scuttle butt has it that Mark Richt might be interested in former Tuberville assistant, Hugh Nall as a replacement for Searls. Nall has been quoted as saying he has no interest in returning to coaching. Stay tuned, as the coaching ‘world turns’.
