Auburn pitchers Jenee Loree and Lauren Schmalz held South Carolina to one unearned run on four hits as the Tigers’ Softball Team swept the Gamecocks 4-1 Sunday in Columbia.
The win improved Auburn’s record to 31-19 and secured the Tigers fifth consecutive SEC Tournament birth which begins May 10 in Tuscaloosa.
Head Coach Tina Dease said,
“Making the SEC Tournament for a fifth straight year was one of our team goals going into the season, Our team has overcome some injuries and obstacles … I’m very happy for the players, especially our seniors. They have worked very hard to this point, but we know there is still a lot of work ahead of us.”
The Tigers still have one weekend of regular season play left as they host Mississippi State next weekend, May 4-6 at Jane B. Moore Field.
