After two days of competing against the best collegiate anglers from across the country, Auburn University teammates Matt Lee and Jordan Lee are currently in 4th place in the 2012 College B.A.S.S. National Championships.

The two members of Auburn University’s BASS Fishing Club are brothers and both have been recognized as All-Americans. They started out Wednesday competing against 71 teams on the Arkansas River.

To make the finals is a great achievement but it’s not over yet. The brothers have a chance to win a National Championship for Auburn today. And the next two days they have a chance to earn a spot in the 2013 Bassmaster Classic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

On Saturday and Sunday the five teams from today’s national finals will compete in a bracket-style individual competition for the single chance to compete with the professionals in Tulsa.

Bass fishing is the fastest growing collegiate sport in America. There are more than 235 schools that have college recognized fishing clubs; including the SEC, ACC, PAC 10, and Big 10 conferences.

Auburn’s 33-member Bass Fishing Club was ranked No. 1 by the FLW Bass Association last August and has an undefeated record in the 2012 Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series.

The Lee brothers should have an excellent chance to bring the national championship back to Auburn. The two finished fourth at the last FLW College Fishing National Championship.

Today’s Bassmaster College Series National Championship will be televised on ESPNU.

Good luck guys and War Eagle!

EDITOR’s UPDATE: The Lee brothers finished 2nd in the Team Championship Series. The 2nd place spot put the Tiger anglers in the 2012 Carhartt College Series Bass National Championship in Conway, Ark.

The Lee’s defeated all comers until the last man standing was each other; setting up a showdown between the two brothers. Matt edged out Jordan for the Individual Championship and the honor to fish with the pro’s in the 2013 Bass Master Classic.
