Chris Davis the hero of the 2013 Iron Bowl has been named an All-American by the Sporting News. The News is one of five organizations recognized by the NCAA for naming All-Americans.
Davis made the team as a punt returner. He leads the SEC in returns with an average of 20.1 yards per attempt. He had an 85-yard touchdown return against Tennessee and a 109-yard touchdown return off a missed field goal kick to beat Alabama.
Tre Mason was also named All-American by Sporting News and Athlon Sports . It marked the third selection this week for the Heisman candidate, having been named Monday to USA Today’s All-American squad.
In addition, junior Reese Dismukes who anchors the Tiger offensive line was named to the Athlon Sports All-American Team. And Coach Malzahn was named Sporting News “Co” Coach of the Year with Duke’s David Cutcliff. That honor was Malzahn’s second CotY award. He was recognized last night on ESPN as the Home Depot National Coach of the Year.
Congrats to Coach and players, you’ve made us all proud.
