Sunday thoughts on the Iron Bowl

My hangover subsided around 11 AM, my euphoria is still high. I have watched the 3 videos above a dozen times and still get chills.
Now then on to the SEC CG and maybe more.
Thoughts about the More:
OSUs signature win was Wisconsin, Penn St took them down yesterday
We beat the number one team in the nation
Our strength of schedule is the highest in the top 5 teams
The computers love us
Boys and girls, don’t be surprised if tonight at 7:30 AU is the number 2 team in the nation. If not this week, a win over Mizzou and a poor showing or loss by OSU to Mich St we move up and we go to Pasadena to play Fla St and keep the Crystal in Alabama. I said the same thing 2 weeks ago but stated that it was a long shot. That long shot is in point blank range right now.

After giving yesterdays game some more rational and sober thought IMO, if Davis had gotten tackled and we went to OT, we still would have won. Malzahn and Ellis had Sabans and Smarts number and the Crimson Tide was gassed. The defense was exhausted and ours was still fresh enough to play another quarter.

Death threats to a kicker, come on Turds that is low even for you

If Gus is not Coach of the Year it is a travesty.

I drove almost 100 miles today, had to go to Walmart and Sams. I saw a grand total of 2 Alabama shirts, one Alabama car flag and two traffic signals and dozens of trees with streams of toilet paper flying in the breeze.

It has been great to be a part of this season. I don’t want it to ever end.

Pure faith in themselves and in what Coach Malzahn and associates have taught them has done wonders for this bunch of Auburn Tigers. There is no limit as to what they can accomplish. And, WIN OR LOSE:

IT’S ALWAYS GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER !!!

    WAR EAGLE !!!

    GO BIG BLUE !!!

    BEAT MIZZOU !!!

I only ventured about 6 miles from the house today (went to Publix for hangover remedy) and saw ZERO updyke swag. The best part of the trip was standing in the checkout line listening to some updykes whine. Two of them even said they hope Texas does lure Saban away!
If we do make it to Pasadena I know several bama fans that bought tickets. They won’t be needing them.

    • MyAuburn MyAuburn says:

On another stop I eavesdropped on two Bammers talking. “I did not read the sports page today, did not even listen to the Saban show”. I just stood there and smiled inside.

  3. Tiger on the mountain Tiger on the mountain says:

It’s so hard to describe what happened. I was shocked that Saban wasn’t going to try to throw a bomb. I mean they did throw a 99 yarder, so what’s a 57 yarder? But NO, he sends his BACKUP kicker out. My heart sinks. We were all sitting down. Truly gearing up for overtime. The kick is up; looked straight on, but short. And then there he was. Chris Davis grabs it and starts running…..everything else is a blur. I remember leaping up and yelling RRRRUUUN RUN BABY RUN! Then when I saw only navy jerseys as escorts, I started yelling: “AUBURN’S GONNA WIN OMG TOUCHDOWN AUBURN TOUCHDOWN AUBURN SUCK IT SABAN WE JUST WON THE GAME OMG WE JUST WON SUCK IT SABAN”

There was a lot of jumping around. Pops of ToTM and I might have shed tears. We screamed and woke up the baby. Little ToTM thought the whole thing was magical. We face timed with my sister and we were all delirious. I stayed up late and sportscenter opened with The Play. When we made Bama kick us our game winning points. Yes, we made Bama our bitch. Gus Malzahn coached the s**t out of Saban. VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I’ve watched the replay countless times. Is it real? Spoiler: YYEESSSSS!!!

War Eagle!! Let’s get up for Mizzou. That’s going to be pure clash of the Tigers. Tough game coming up….don’t lose that game face. Don’t lose your edge!

Drove back home to SC today and had to make several stoped along the way. At each stop at gas station, big lots close to home a restraunt, people mobbed me and my wife when they saw we had Auburn gear on. What a game that has captures the people across America!

I’ve got a feeling this IS going to be a good night and the rest of the season.Atlanta here we come,

I have watched the whole game two more times now(3 total) and the Chris Davis FG return with Rod and Stan’s histerics (great call, one for the history books) too many times to count…. I am still euphoric. I hope Gus can get the team to focus better than I am managing with myself. That was the greatest game of any kind I have ever witnessed in my 48+ years on this earth. I may sober up by next Saturday but I seriously doubt it! War Damn Eagle!

  6. SandMountainTiger SandMountainTiger says:

I don’t like this “strength of scedule” nonsense. If OSU and FSU win out, they go. Fact of the matter is, we lost one, they didn’t. I hope Michigan State wins, and we win. I don’t want controversy. I remember 2004, and like Acid, I remember 1982. Let’s just handle buisness and let the chips fall wherr they may.

    • Tiger on the mountain Tiger on the mountain says:

‘SOS’ should only be relevant if applied equally. The experts are willing to use it as an excuse to bash OSU with nary a mention of FSU’s tiptoe through the ACC. I mean, Duke (all respect and congrats to Coach Cutcliffe) is not the same challenge as Michigan St (D!) or Mizzou.

I agree, just take care of business and let it be what it will be. I like our chances with a side of #destinysauce

Mizzou is going to be tough. Game face: on! War Eagle!!!!

      • Todd92 Todd92 says:

FSU didn’t squeak by any of their weak opponents. If you have a poor SOS you should mop the floor with them to alleviate the doubt. OSU clearly didn’t do this … FSU did. If not, why don’t we all just elevate Northern Illinois to number two… They are just as undefeated.

        • Tiger on the mountain Tiger on the mountain says:

This is true, but I would also argue that blowing the doors off of lowly rated teams is not challenging. The only real test that they had was Clemson…….

  7. GRT2BAUTIGER says:

We were visiting family for thanksgiving in Birmingham and on a whim my wife and I agreed to make the trip to Auburn with our 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter. With no tickets in hand we had planned to watch the game in the arena. Not knowing how the game would pan out, nor knowing how the veiwing experience would be for the fledgling 4 year old Auburn fan. We had our doubts. From the moment we stepped on campus, I saw before my very eyes my son take in all the wonderful sights and sounds of game day that make Auburn so phenomenal.

The arena experience was exhilarating. I don’t know why I doubted watching the game with easily 15,000 Auburn fans by my side would be anything short of awesome. Until the good lord sees fit to bless me with season tickets, our iron bowl on a budget plan will forever be the day that I introduced my son to a very special part of my life and the events on that particular day surpassed even my wildest dreams. What an amazing team, coach, and fans. It was a good day for the Auburn family.

I wish you could all have seen my 3 foot tall carbon copy walking up and down magnolia screaming war eagle to everyone in sight. Keep your head down, focus on this next test and take care of business. WDE!

    • WarEagleAtlanta WarEagleAtlanta says:

Wow! You’re the first person I’ve heard from that was in the arena. I imagine it was like being in a 15k person Auburn bar! (sans booze)

  9. tigertracker says:

Keep in mind that foster got death threats after the 2011 bama LSU game if memory serves. He survived that. He’ll survive this. There is plenty of blame to be shared throughout the bama locker room.

I told friends before the game that I thought turnovers and penalties would be the difference in this one. Masons fumble directly resulted in 7 points for them as did dee fords offsides on 4th and 7. Despite being down at the half mason had already rushed for 107 yds and Marshall for 50 or so against the vaunted bama D that allowed an average of 92 rush yds per game.

They were 1 for 6 on third down conversions and we were 4 of 7 and getting the ball back. So they can whine on about missed FGs all they want. If they made them all that doesn’t change the 14 points we served them on a silver platter in the first half.

Jesse Palmer is a moron. He needs to be checked for concussions with the rest of them or something. Did he WATCH the same iron bowl we all saw where we gutted that “vaunted” Saban/smart D for 300 rush yards? And then contradicts himself 5 min later. Wow someone please tell me they recorded that and can post it.

    • Third Generation Tiger Third Generation Tiger says:

If Jesse Palmer was as smart as he thinks he is, world hunger and cancer would no longer be on our list of problems. He is one special kinda doosh.

If AU pulls it out against Mizzou (Mizzou!), then regardless of how the BCS shakes out I will have no doubt AU is the best team in College football. Heck, if AU was in the Big 10 we would probably be 24-0 over the last two years too!

Oh.My.Goodness. I have been at a loss for words for 24 hours now. I even went down to the field. I have watched replays so many times and love every new one that shows up. What a magical season! It almost feels like 2010 and as though 2012 never happened. Forget Atlanta ~ I’m headed to Pasedena……

All I do have to say is ~ WE COMIN’

Got tickets for Christmas! See some of you folks in ATL?

  14. WarEagleAtlanta WarEagleAtlanta says:

Saban made a poor decision not to kick a chip shot 29 yard field goal on that one drive. Yes, I know, Auburn was living rent free in Cade Foster’s head the whole night, but if made, that was the ballgame.

Poor Foster. He’s receiving death threats. It’s 10 times worse than Robert McGinty.
