Entering Amen Corner – A New Hope Emerges

A long time ago, on the plains of Auburn, Alabama...the Tigers were number 1.

Hope is as scarce a resource on The Plains as uranium, but it may not be long before it can be found detonating inside Auburn’s athletic department. Rumors regarding the future of the football program have grown exponentially in prevalence over the previous few weeks, and it now appears it is only a matter of time before drastic changes are made. It is a sad ending to a story that started as well as one could ever ask for, but now it appears that the Gene Chizik era is only awaiting the final knockout blow. Something tells me Mark Richt won’t have a problem putting us out of our misery.

Georgia will travel to Jordan-Hare stadium tomorrow with the intention of making a statement. The Tigers are the only thing standing between the Bulldogs clinching a spot in the SEC championship game, and there’s more than a fair chance that Georgia will be out to humiliate us.  After all, wouldn’t we offer them the same treatment if our situations were reversed? Auburn will have to have by far its best performance of the year to pull out the upset, but all signs point to this game being an exercise in futility.

Something Auburn fans do have to look forward to, however, is the play and development of freshman-quarterback, Jonathan Wallace. It took longer than many wanted, but Wallace finally got his chance last weekend in his first career start against New Mexico State. Could he be the next big thing? Despite it being against lesser competition, he was  noticeably more comfortable than Clint Moseley and Kiehl Frazier. It is now clear why Loeffler pushed so hard to sign him in his first class at Auburn. It may have been better to play the kid all along, but that decision would have most likely been met with substantial criticism. However, at this point, Wallace is the new hope for Auburn football. He is the apparent leader of the ‘future’ that so many Auburn fans cling to at this point.

Jonathan Wallace represents hope to me as well, but he also represents something else. He is a shining example of Gene Chizik’s complete inability to evaluate talent at the quarterback position. Something that is absolutely unacceptable of a head coach at any level. Chizik did not want Cam initially. He decided not to fight too hard to keep Trotter after last season. He did not want to sign another quarterback when Loeffler began pursuing Wallace. Maybe it isn’t all Chizik’s fault, but with the recent staff turnover it is apparent we don’t have the right coaches in place to consistently field even an above-average quarterback. To that I say, “good-riddance.” The lack of talent development is apparent all over Auburn’s roster, but the quarterback position under Chizik is what I consider the true barometer of his head coaching abilities.

“Could you give us a moment? Aaron doesn’t like it when story time gets interrupted.”

      63-21 !!!!!
I don’t want to keep any DC that gives up 63 points in one game. No way! 63-21 – the most embarrassing lost in the history of the school. You can’t blame that all on the offense not producing. No excuse for that.

On a paid site it is being said that Gouge isn’t listening to those who are politely trying give advice. In some cases he is being very unfriendly.

I guess this rules out the “yella fella” influence that we have heard some folks talk about. So those who had that fear, you get to replace it with this new insanity of a President who has no idea about running a football program or an athletic department. From the sound of it, apparently he doesn’t have much experience running a University either.

But in keeping with the theme of this article *waving my hands*….

“these are not the stories you are looking for”

    LOL

I am excited to see Wallace play…again, I hope that his spirit does not get crushed. As they say, ‘Wallace, you’re our only hope!’.

Perhaps, Loeffler isn’t terrible at judging or even developing quarterback talent. However, he seems hapless as to what to do with it and what to do with any other talent on the offense. It’s baffling to say the least.

The photoshopping is masterful. BVG makes an excellent Han Solo!

God this is just painful. Georgia winning the SEC East on our field….again. Their obnoxious fans getting to gloat about winning 7of the last 10 games after Tuberville arrogantly told Richt..”If you want to win in the SEC, son, you’re gonna have to learn how to run the football” Well Richt, outrecruited Tubby and has outcoached Chizik to watch two Auburn coaches fall under his blade. Simply awful.

We’re about to fire Chizik and replace him with a no name and KEEP the godawful AD that hired him. Uggh.
Boy I sure am glad Chiz won a championship in 2010 because it looks like its going to a LOOOONNGG time before Saturdays are fun because of how our Tigers do.

And for those of you bemoaning the “good ol’boys” , “yella fella” and “the meddlers”, the last 30 years haven’t been so bad. We are about to find out what happens when the academics pick the coach. Hope you have your vomit buckets handy.

    Col. Angus nailed it.

We are in for Chizik 2.0. Get ready for years upon years of utter mediocrity at best.

    I hate them. HATE them.

Brothers and sisters…. keep the faith! And never give up on Auburn. I know things look bad. But hey, its part of life and more importantly of what makes us auburn tigers.. Don’t wish it away. Be thankful. Many here have pointed out we are “different”…. yes, yes we are. This is apart of training that separates us from everyone else.

God bless auburn! May He remember the faithful. Blessings are coming – prepare for the harvest!

That photo montage is AWESOME!! But I hope Petrino is on the Death Star to be blown away….. ;)

Tired of discussing the rest of it ad nauseum. It is what it is and will be what it will be and I will still be proud to be an Auburn Tiger!

It’s time to BEAT the DAWGS!!
