Auburn goal keeper Amy Howard is the Tigers career leader with over 360 saves.

For the second year in a row The SEC Soccer Tournament Championship will come down to Auburn vs. Florida. And for the second year in a row, Auburn comes into the game as the underdog.

Today’s Tournament Championship game will be televised by ESPNU. at 2:30 CST in Orange Beach.

The Tigers made the finals by pitching two shutouts this week. Auburn defeated second seed Texas A&M Friday 2-0; and on Wednesday won a double overtime match against third seeded Tennessee.

Now today at 2:30 in Orange Beach, the sixth seeded Tigers have a chance to defeat the number one seeded Gators. It is  a tall order, after all Florida is an SEC Soccer powerhouse having won nine of the 19 SEC Tournaments.

Do the sixth seed Tigers have a chance against the number one seeded Gators? Consider the following:  Florida lost last year’s Championship game to then seventh seeded Auburn. The Gators had to play an overtime period to defeat Auburn 2-1 during the regular season this year. And then there is Auburn’s secret weapon: goalkeeper Amy Howard.

She has been absolutely phenomenal. The Tigers were outshot by the Aggies on Friday 19-6,  yet won the game 2-0  behind Howard’s stellar performance.

Amy said, “It’s unbelievable. I’m still trying to take it all in … As a senior, I’m just so happy to be in it and be able to play for another championship.”

Reports from Orange Beach this week are that the bleachers have been full of Auburn people. Pull ‘em through Tiger fans! And War Eagle – Beat Florida …
