War Eagle, everybody! It’s another early game day for the Auburn Tigers! At 11:21 AM Central Time, the Auburn Tigers will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville. There should be an azure blue sky with temperatures rising from the low 60s at kickoff into the mid to upper 60s by game’s end. The cool breeze will feel nice, but don’t forget your sunblock if you’re attending the game!
It’s an unprecedented time in modern Auburn history, as the Tigers are more than seven point underdogs to the Commodores. If there’s to be any chance for a bowl trip this year, the Tigers must start winning here in Nashville. A loss in this game would put Auburn in the position of having to run the table from here on out, to qualify.
Expect a youth movement from the Tigers today, as true freshman middle linebacker Cassanova McKinzy has been given the keys to the car and the starting nod. True freshmen corners Joshua Holsey and Jonathan Jones will likely start also, with the task of containing dangerous Vanderbilt receiver Jordan Matthews.
As always, feel free to sound off here, and help us cheer on the Tigers! We’ll be here all game long, calling ‘em like we see ‘em! War Eagle, and let’s go beat Vandy!

I like that he’s putting the younger guys in there. I think that is problaby the best going forward and looking to next year.
……One must be careful doing that, as a head coach. If you’ve got a junior or senior who’s busted his tail for you his whole career, and you bench him for “the future,” you might really mangle the team’s morale. On the other hand, if the senior figures he’s not getting a ring, or an NFL offer, he might be mailing it in after a 1-5 start. By all means, start the freshman! In essence, it depends upon the situation.
It is going to be extremely refreshing to see some new faces out on the field today.

CMc looks like our answer in the middle. He will force the pass, then it’s sack time!
I am hoping that all the younger players being put in games, signal increased competition at these spots, and not the staff mortgaging the rest of this season, in hopes of better play next year.
I have been unwilling to say this, but this may also be a sign that the team is fractured somewhat, with the warning shot being fired by Blake and T’Bell saying the young players need to “get in line”. If the older players have created a fracture, then the staff is 100% right in setting them down, so that those who want to play, will.
Does anybody know if dismukes or ford are playing?
Three confirmed reports are that Ford, Dismukes , and Davis made the trip, Erique Florence did not.
What’s up with Florence/
Reports are that Blakely didn’t make the trip either.
Both should get some playing time. Not sure how much.
Now we’re hearing that Lutzenkirchen made the trip but may be injured.

WAR EAGLE EVERYONE. I was born in 1938 in Big BR,LA. I became an AUBURN TIGER in 1963 when I first stepped off the train in the Lovliest Village and have been one since. I’m suffering through this season just like all of you. Even though I live in the shadow of those other tigers I have never failed to wear something that says “AUBURN” since I returned to Big BR,LA in 1967. Just remember “This too shall pass” and the AUBURN ship will be righted.

Honestly, what do you think is going through the OCs head with all these types of calls? He’s so consistent with the short-side stuff that I’d more than likely counter that every play if I was the DC.

So did the announcer just not see the corner standing 7 yds from coates? Granted that was a soft zone look, but would’ve taken a heck of an effort to get the ball to coates on a quick throw and him make the guy miss. However a fade route would have been a money play with a good throw. Heck coates even goes up and gets bad ones when given the opportunity. That should be our play down here. jump ball.

@ AE isn’t running with authority what makes a back good? I mean yes you want one with speed, vision, balance, and power, but ultimately I prefer a guy that has some combination of all that which mason does. He just plays at a different intensity than everyone else on the field. you could first notice it in his kickoff returns last year.

……That was as embarrassing an offensive performance as we’ve seen all year. We can’t block on the right side, so we’re having to waste an all-american fullback to try and shore it up. We left two touchdown passes on the field due to noodle armed throws. To me, it’s absolutely inexcusable to throw the ball out of bounds on 4th down. Inexcusable.
…..Seven games in, we actually seem to be slowing the play calling process down. We can’t get lined up right before the play clock runs out. Scot Loeffler’s confused jumble of junk is an anchor that’s dragging the ship down. Honestly, we might lose to Alabama A&M with this sort of abomination of a plan.

Honest opinion here….Chizik would be served to go ahead and demote CSL to QB coach and just call the plays himself. Leoffler has no business calling plays for Auburn. He clearly is not qualified. I honestly believe after watching this team week in and week out that we would have won 2 maybe 3 more games with an OC that knew what to call. For crying out loud on 3rd and 3 you have TWO downs to get the 1st..run the damn ball up the middle. If they can stop you twice then we don’t deserve to win. But to give up the play when my 4 year old knew who was gonna get it…really. This team is not as bad as they look. But our OC is unqualified to be an OC in this league.
I WAS encouraged in some aspects of our defense. If Van Gorder doesn’t let Cassanova play every snap then his ‘stache ass should be let go. Jake Holland came in the game and our defense looked lost. McKinzey came back in and they looked like a decent defense….easy to see..should be easy to see on tape…thanks for your effort Holland…but sorry.
We need a QB un the worst way…oh wait..Wallace can play..but they won’t let him tun the show…maybe now that we have no chance of going to a bowl they will sit Mosley…sit Frazier…sit Holland…sit any and all upper classmen that are holding us back and let the young kids play. Get them experience.

I’m not sure how people come to some of their conclusions about Chizik from what we see. I have seen people who are clearly pro Auburn, on this very site, positive that they know he has lost the team, etc and then others who are equally as sure that it isn’t his fault. Face it folks, we are not in the know on this. What I do know is from recent past experience that coaches who lose get run off at Auburn. They usually “resign.” Someone will be losing their job this year. I hope whatever is decided is well thought out and in the best interest of Auburn.

What is the injury to Lutz? I hate it for the young man…but as our current OC doesn’t use the TE in his worthless scheme it won’t make a ton of difference. Lutz is one of my favorite players and he is a stand up person. Sorry that his career on the Plains had to end via injury and under an OC that is worthless at calling plays.
…..The wildcat needs to go, or we need to throw out of it more. Wallace looked good on the screen pass, and it worked well. The wildcat is NOT a good short yardage option, unless you have a power back to take that inside handoff.

As for McKinzey and fatigue….I agree..but him playing fatigued might be better than his backup playing fresh. It was blatantly obvious that our Defense suffered when he wasn’t on the field. I’m convinced that CGC is doing what old Coach Tuberville used to to and that was to delegate to his assistants and not be hands on. I think on Defense he can do this as I honestly think CBVG is a good coach and simply doesn’t have the linebackers or DT’s to run his defense…yet.
Offensively it is also obvious that CSL is not getting it done and likely will never get it. Again on offense I don’t think it’s personnel I think it is 100% play calling. Perhaps the only position on the field where we don’t have enough talent is at QB. All the other positions have good talent, albeit young.
I’ve said that forever. I even said it last week on the game thread. The Wildcat worked at first because no one had ever seen it. Just lining up and running is moronic. Kill the Wildcat and fire Loeffler.
I know that some of you will disagree, but here goes. I am ashamed of how we are treating our family. God put CGC and his family in the path of our family and now we are all one family. Ive gone through very hard times with my family, but at no point did I EVER think about getting rid of any of them. CGC gave us a National Championship. It was his skill as a head coach that coached up the players. My question to all of you is this: have you never made a mistake? Have you gone through times in your professional life where you didnt perform as well as you wanted? I believe that CSL may be a bit over his head. If any changes should be made I believe that we need to promote coach Trooper Taylor. He is the Assistant head coach of this football team and I believe that not promoting him is racism and I dont want our family to be called racist. ALL IN still in Heflin ALABAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you’re paying someone millions to win in a million dollar industry, you don’t have the luxury of treating them like family. I agree that Loeffler is over his head. But, it is Chizik’s responsibility ultimately.
If Chizik was worth his salt, he’d have recognized issues and tweaked the practices and game plans accordingly. He would have mentored the new OC. Now it’s become apparent that he’s a team manager, CEO-style coach. Unfortunately, when aspects of the team aren’t coached/managed well by their coordinators, a coach of that style goes down in flames. Witness Tuberville.
I liken what you have said. We have gotten spoiled by winning. We should not be treating the team and coaches this way. There are a lot of little things that ate making it hard to win. All you can do is fight through it and we will have a great year next year. We will be older, bigger, more experienced next year and better due to the struggles of this year. We will start the year with clear Minds and optimism after starting this year under a cloud of deaths and distractions. Time will heal many things. We will play for SEC Championship next year.

I forgive you for that. I know that you are just hurting tonight after the loss. Again, family doesnt turn on one another like I feel like you just did. I forgive you just like I forgive CGC. What I said about coach Trooper Taylor was that if our ADMINISTRATION did not give him a chance to advance I feel like that would be racist and family should not be racist. Also, Coach Trooper Taylor is the Assistant Head Coach, so obviously we trust him already. Also, Jesus helped us when we needed him in 2010 and I feel like we have forgotten that.
If CGC is all in, do the program a favor and step aside. He should be ashamed to allow Auburn to continue to get worse week end and week out. I am sure he is a good guy and has a wonderful family however he is not living up to his end of deal. The deal is that the school pays him millions and in return he makes every effort to improve the performance of the team and build it for the upcoming years. I am embarrassed for him, I would hate to know that I was building the reputation that CGC is in my chosen profession.
