Alabama

I believe the University of Alabama must be paying Jay Jacobs more than Auburn University is paying Jay Jacobs.

Football, basketball and swimming have been or are going into the toilet. I just hope they keep their hands off Coach Gus.

Mal Moore seems to be doing things right. Every day something new and positive about the Tide. I am a person who believes in excellence, not perfection. Alabama has excellence, we have Jay Jacobs.

I know it will be hard to do, but the only way to get rid of Jacobs is to boycott sporting events at Auburn. Stop giving. He will be gone when the money slows down.

It doesn’t seem to matter if we win or not, but only how his fund raising efforts are going. Heck, with the SEC, I could do well at fund raising for a major institution such as Auburn. And with someone else with winning ideals, we would probably raise a lot more.

I read that Jacobs runs off successful coaches and hires a certain type of individual. Can anyone define that type of individual? I think that is important.

…..Mal’s had plenty of missteps. Dubose, Price, Shula, all under his watch, as was “Textbook-gate.” He hit one out of the park with Saban, of course. And Sara Patterson predates him. Bama’s been nothing to write home about in baseball, softball, or either basketball team for quite a while. I think Anthony Grant’s potentially a good coach, but he hasn’t really lit up the SEC yet. (Yep, lit us up last night, but who hasn’t lately?)

    Check your softball facts.

I personally don’t care for bama. But I can’t discount what they have become. Acid is right, they have obviously gotten the right formula for winning now. Ultimately, I think AU can always better itself. We could learn a thing or three from them. That is a fact and I am not ashamed to say it.

And while saying that, I think we need to be careful in how we voice our opinions about our own. I am not trying to censure your discontent. For the record I am not satisfied either. Again, you obviously have a right to say what you want, but there is a way to go about that. For example: I think Jacobs should be dismissed because of his decisions… and I could cite those decisions. This might be viewed as some as degrading him… but at least it uses facts to do it. Or one could resort to character assasination and try to destroy him by saying “I believe bama must be paying” him.

Really? Did you say that in 2010 when the Newton issue was happening? And when the NCAA basically told Chizik to sit down and shut up?

Let’s remember…. Jay Jacobs is an Auburn man. No matter what he has done… he is one of us. And while you offer a valid course of action in trying to change the political landscape at Auburn…. once again I think your aim is a bit off. I think if you want to remove the AD… you’re ultimately going to have to replace Dr Jay Gouge.
