Can the Tigers win an SEC game this year?
War Eagle, everybody! It’s gameday Saturday once again, and the Auburn Tigers are in action in Oxford, Mississippi. The Tigers face the Ole Miss Rebels, who’ve lost their last 16 SEC games. It’s an early kickoff, at 11:21 AM Central Time, on the SEC Network. Check your local listings.
Yesterday afternoon, Auburn announced that junior Clint Moseley will be making the start at quarterback, after the first five games were started by sophomore Khiel Frazier. Rumors from inside the program seem to indicate that viewers could see as many as three Auburn quarterbacks rotating. In any event, the coaches seem to have realized that the past few weeks were a failure on offense, and are trying something new. Will it be a visionary move, or are the coaches acting upon desperation?
This game should be played under magnificent, warm conditions. Expect a partly cloudy sky, with temps in the low to mid 80s in Oxford. There’s a slight chance of a shower, but it’s not one that I’d bother dragging in a poncho for.
Expect a dogfight in this one, folks. Ole Miss has all the confidence in the world right now, as most folks doubted that they’d win three games this season. They’ve won three, and they expect more. Auburn’s team is trying to decide whether they’ll fight the rest of the year, or mail it in, and hope for better coaches next year. With a new starter named at quarterback, and the stakes at hand, it’s not a good feeling for the Tiger faithful.
We’ll be here all morning, offering cheers and insight. As always, feel free to join in, and offer your opinion. We’re doing our first real live-thread test of the new TrackEmTigers platform, and it’s fair to say that there may be glitches. We’ll stay hard at the task of keeping the spirit going. If you’re not seeing anything happen on the thread during the game, hit that F-5 key, to reload the page. We’re not quite sure that we’ve fixed that particular problem.
Above all else, War Eagle! Support your Tigers! We’re gonna be behind this team, and hopefully help them beat the Rebels! Yes, indeed.

Good Morning and WAR EAGLE!
Forgive me Father for I have sinned…….I just picked Ole Miss in the Yahoo pool.
A pick you will gladly lose.
Throw a couple Hail Marys and all is forgiven.
WAR EAGLE!!
Let’s beat those rebellious rebels rebelling in Rebel-Town.
Good morning all.
Hope everyone stays with Acid today as we try to work out any kinks in the open thread.
We will be watching the game and looking closely at the function of the thread to be able to address any issues that may occur, We are working daily to improve our service to you.
War Eagle and
BEAT dem’ Rebs!
You guys have to be proud of your efforts! This place rocks!
Thanks TotM.
But we are more proud of loyal followers like YOU!
Per AL.com: Injury makes Auburn quarterback Kiehl Frazier doubtful to play against Ole Miss http://ow.ly/erMyH
Just covering their decision to switch or real reason Mosley is starting?
Don’t know but an injury makes a lot more sense than pulling a running QB in a game that you’ve announced is going to emphasize the running game.
Morning everyone! Anyone have some intel in the injury….where’s Sparkey?? He’s usually got that stuff dialed in….
Regardless, I’m still trying to wrap my head around Moseley as the starter. It does not help that Baby ToTM was sleep-adverse last night…poor little guy. Who knew that playing the RebelBears would constitute a ‘big’ game.
I’m going to get some work done this morning…so I’ll be around.
Regardless of what happens today and what frustrations will develop, it’s great to be an Auburn Tiger and I’m so very happy that TET is BACK, baby!
Also, hopefully Acid is feeling better today than he was last night…..
#Auburn SID Shelly Poe contradicts report of injury for quarterback Kiehl Frazier. Says he’s not injured and is “available.” Per beat reporter Ryan Wood
The specifics of the injury are not reported but it said it affected his throwing. Hmmm, I thought it was because it was difficult to throw when you are running for your life.
Ha!
Reese Dismukes, Chris Davis, Dee Ford did not make trip to Oxford due to injury.
http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2012/10/reese_dismukes_chris_davis_dee.html
Not looking good….
Westerman also.
Actually, I liked it when the back-up center played…thought that he’s been sharper than dismukes all season….these kids don’t seem to be playing hard enough to get injured, WTH!?
Not saying they haven’t played hard but Injuries are more likely when your not playing hard
We got them right where we want them! Just get mason the ball with prosch leading and the rest will take care of itself.
Ditto to that
War Eagle! Checking in. Let’s turn this ship around starting today. Looking forward to following you Acid.
……War Eagle! I’ve finally rolled out of bed after a very restful night! Let’s tear up some Rebels!
War Eagle!
……I’d expect Nosa Eguae to start for Ford, Tunde Fariyike at center for Dismukes, and true Freshman Joshua Holsey will start at corner.
…..Ole Miss wins the toss, and will defer. The Tigers will get the ball first!
……Bryson Rose boots it for a touchback, and Auburn starts at the 25.
…..Moseley brings ‘em out. I set, Mason up the gut, and he’s ahead for a couple of yards.
…..2nd and 7 Tigers. Pistol set, and Mason gets it, and he’s to the 30.
…..Possession play for the Tigers. SHotgun, will hit Blake on the curl, and it’s out over the 40!
…..New set of Tiger downs, Wallace in the wildcat. keeper, and not much there.
for those scoring at home that is 1 play for prosch…
…..2nd and 10. Pistol set. Screen, and Blake will go nowhere. Denson missed his block.
no running and we are third and long…
…..3rd and 9. Tigers in the gun, two backs in. Fires to Lutz underneath, and he’ll be down at midfield, short of the first down.
send loeffler to the box and take his headset. tell luper to call running plays for mason with prosch!!!!!
….Prosch was out there one down. A 3 yard run.
…..Clark will launch the punt, bouncing high, and in for the touchback. 53 yards.
I hate the “Wildcat”.
I know it is early, but I’m already questioning our (alleged) renewed commitment to the run.
Are we using this or the ‘live blog’?
F5 is working good….not sure about auto refresh
…..We didn’t block the wildcat well, last series. And Wallace made the wrong read.
…..Pistol set for the Rebels. Scott will run off the right, and he’s got about 8 yards.
…..Screen to Moncrief, butted out by Holsey for nothing!
…..3rd and 2, fake, pitch to Scott, and he’s all the way out to the 40.
…..Lost contain on that one. New set of downs. Wallace hits Mackey in the flat, and he’s down to the Auburn 35. Poor coverage.
….Another screen, and Whitehead knocks him out for a loss!
…..2nd and 11 at the Auburn 41. Scott will bull down to the 35. Richardson on the stop.
3rd and 5. Dime defense. And the Tigers call time. Jake Holland was out of the game, and the defense looked lost.
…..Double stack for ole Miss, fake, and Wallace is off left tackle for 10 yards. Easy run. Lemonier doesn’t understand the word “contain.”
…..Another keeper, and Wallace has 4 more.
…..Bunch set, and toss to Mackey, and he’s throwing back to Wallace, for an easy touchdown. No one covered Wallace.
This is going to be a long game if the D keeps playing like that.
…..The PAT is good by Rose, and with 7:14 left in the first, Auburn trails 7-0. Not looking good at all, on defense.
second coming of Cam
Beautiful drive if youre an Ole Miss fan
…..No one is playing the outside runs, or covering anyone underneath. I guess it’s VanGorder’s week to look like his guys have no clue.
renewed commitment to run round #2 coming up. Over/under on how many snaps prosch gets this drive is 1.5. Place your bets!
Rebel Black Bear sighting!
…..Bryson Rose will kick off. Bray and Mason deep, and this one is is deep, and Mason looked like he was thinking about taking it out, but does take the knee in the end zone.
…..Tigers at their own 25. I set, and he’ll face a ton of guys in the box. Handoff Mason, loses yardage.
…..2nd and 10. Wildcat with Wallace. Fake, and Wallace dodes a man, and he’s ahead for three. Flag down.
…..No penalty. 3rd and 8. Snapped over Mosley’s head, back to the end zone, touchdown Rebels. Terrible.
Complete disaster! Who said not having Dismukes wouldn’t matter?
Me.
If Moseley doesn’t get pulled……he should have kicked it through the end zone. Bad decision. Bad. Bad.
glad i don’t have any food in my stomach
…..Bryson Rose in to kick, and it’s good. With 5:49 left in the first, Ole Miss is up 14-0. Auburn couldn’t even get lined up for the extra point. Things have unraveled rapidly.
…..Mosley did get a hand on that snap, but it was just fired way too hard. I think we’re running too much shotgun, anyway. When was the last time you saw Auburn throw from the I set? Not this year, I don’t think.
One of the highest paid coaching staffs in America are really earning their pay today. Gosh we look horrible, When does this nightmare end, 2014?
…..Q sez that Loeffler is up in the pressbox, this game.
someone get that headset!!! NOW!
Fetal position activate
…..Let’s see if Loeffler will actually stop his preponderance of shotgun plays. I vote that he won’t.
…..Rose boots it a yard deep to Mason, and he will fight out to the 26.
…..Tigers out in the one back set. Fake, and here’s a bullet to Travante Stallworth, and he’s near the stake, first down!
…..I set, slot left. Now checking off. Handoff McCalebb, and he’s out of bounds up to the 44!
…..2nd and 2. Tigers in the wildcat. High snap, and Wallace is ahead to the 48. Pulled it down, and went forward.
….Slot right, three wides, one back. Mason to the wide side, and Mason has room! To the Ole Miss 42, another first down!
…..One back again. Slot left, Mason to the short side, bottled up, and he’s got only one. No lead blockers, that time.
where is our power i and fullback???
and mcaleb goes down in a stiff breeze
…..2nd and 9. Shotgun. Motion in, and here’s a really obvious screen to McCalebb, and he’s going nowhere.
now fullback on first and second and back to third and long
….3rd and 9. Auburn in the gun. Time. Will roll left, and he’s close to the stake! FIrst down!
yay moseley. he resisted the fetal position with authority
….At the Ole Miss 31. Three wides again. Wallace on a delay to McCalebb, and he’s out down at the Ole MIss 18!
hmmm. inside the red zone. can we please not blow up on ourselves???
…..1st and 10. Wallace in, pistol set. Give to Mason, and he’ll sweep wide to the ten! The wide side is working!
where is the freaking FULLBACK?
…..I think we need to put him on the milk carton, again.
…..2nd and 3. Moseley under center, Ace formation. GIvve to Mason, and he’s to the seven, close to the stake. And they signal first down!
…..So at the end of the first quarter, Auburn trails 14-0, but they are first and goal at the seven.
…..Ole Miss isn’t that good up front, as long as we use the wide side most of the time and not bottle ourselves up on the sideline.
D’oh! I was complaining on the other thread, and it went away! I guess all the cool kids were over here. I’m crashing this party.
looks like just me and acid. where is this other thread? Tell everyone to get in here!
There was an Open Game Thread post after this one. But it vanished.
Do we see a fullback inside the 10?? Yes
…..First and goal, Wallace in the gun, fakes, and he’ll lose a couple of yards. We got WAAYY too cute, there.
my bad that was not prosch and play = fail
…..2nd and goal at the 9, Prosch is back. Dumps to Prosch, and he’s inside the two yard line!
…..3rd and goal at the two. Jumbo, and Mason will power off the left side, and IN!
looky looky. FULLBACK = TD
TOUCHDOOOOOWN, AUBURN!
Acid, the other thread was auto-refreshing, this one is not. Is it my settings?
…..Parkey is up and good, and with 13:56 left in the half, Auburn still trails, 14-7.
Loeffler are you paying attention to what worked in the redzone there…and more importantly the play that did not!
Did not see that coming with pass to Prosch! Great! And he lead the back the next play, Touchdown who would have thought?
Pass to Prosch! Great! And he lead the back the next play, Touchdown who would have thought?
…..I loved the little dump to the fullback in the flat. That was a good read by Mosley. Teams have been doing that to us all year long.
I am new to this thread today. I am usually at the games working with the baseball recruits. Could be the best drive that I have seen all season. We need to keep Prosch in the game.
how do i get to the game blog?
Now can D show up they looked lost last series?
Touchdown!
Come on D!
Yes to the techy guys the other thread where I was pretending to be Eeyore was auto-updating. This one is not.
…..Parkey to kick off. And he’ll launch this one out of the end zone!
if auto refresh is working I’m heading there.
…..handoff Scott, and Auburn’s tackling woes continue. Five yards.
…..Big rush, dumps to the tight end, and he runs through Mincy for the first down.
….Handoff Scott, and he’s crushed down by Craig Sanders.
Can we get some arms installed on our Jonathan Mincy?
…..Sweep, and Bates has it for another loss!@
I got nothing on liveblog, but our D has something working now
That’s the way to play in their backfield
Bates comes with arms.
…..rd and 16, Wallace will run, and stopped short by Jonathan Jones. Big hit.
…..Mackey in at QB, 4th down, Mackey is stopped short!
who is #21 jones? AND THE D BOWS UP!
…..Jermaine Whitehead fired up and sent Mackey tumbling backwards. Officials will measure, and he’s well short. Auburn’s football!
Yeah D
This wasn’t even close. Why in the heck are they measuring?
Oh. Closer than I thought on replay. Good job D!!!!
Wow. we score and the D responds. Imagine that! NOW bring back the FB.
……Tigers with the pistol. Three wides. Mason on the give, and he’s to the 40. 4 yards.
…..Wildcat Wallace. He’ll give to OMAC, and he’ll lose yardage.
mcaleb running backwards engage. please loeffler put prosch in!
Duke putting it on VT
Love the way AU runs the wildcat and ends up stringing McCalebb out to lose yardage about 60 times per game! THanks Loeffler!
D helps us out and we go back to STUPID!
…..3rd and 10. Mosley in the gun. Mosley will run, and he’s pulled down at the 41, 4th down.
…..Tigers running the play clock, and they’ll take a delay penalty.
I think that Wallace and Jeremy Johnson will be the QBs of the future. Moseley has no wheels.
Come on Clark, chipping wedge
…..Clark to punt, and it will hit at the 15, and downed at the 5!
I’d say unbelievable, but every stupid thing we do now is standard. We just had a good drive running the ball north. and we come back to no FB/east west running. /shakeshead
…..The wildcat’s produced little or nothing today. Shelve it, please, Mr. Loeffler.
Anyone reading this at the game please make your way to the press box and just punch loeffler in the face. Tell him Tigertracker sends his regards
Kick him in the ding-ding for me please.
…..Plus if we weren’t running the shotgun so much, we might be in a tie ball game, with out the snap over the head for an Ole Miss score.
Come on D, lets get a safety!
Lts get a safety!
mason at 9 carries for 33 yards and a 3.7 avg. Three of those equals a first down…but kinda hard to get them without a fullback
…..Fake, keeps, and Auburn again can’t tackle at the end spot, and Wallace gets ten yards on the scramble. Followed by a false start.
Cool lets get them now!
…..Handoff Scott, will be snatched down by Blackson for a loss!
2nd and 16. Shotgun, will scramble, and fire, dug out by Sanders, but that thing was short-hopped.
what is this mythical fullback that everyone keeps talking about??? and what is a “Prosch”?
…..They’ll now check the replay, after wasting some time. Looks like the receiver trapped the ball, with the nose hitting the ground. Call on the field was incomplete, and I’d be surprised if they overturn with the two angles I’ve seen.
the tip of the football touches just quick enough that this guy can’t see it. Need indisputable evidence so ruling stands
You can tell who this commentator is for, the ball clearly hits the ground!
…..Upheld! It will be 3rd and 16. Rebels in the gun. Draw play, and Scott is POPPED by Bates, 4th down!
van gorder please teach whitehead about pursuit angles. he has none.
…..Broadway in to punt, and he will rugby this one, and it hops to midfield, and Bray snags it, and goes forward for 2. Great job!
Now lets follow Prosch to the end zone?
THIS^
…..If Bray let that ball hit, it might have rolled for 30 more.
we need a fullback driven TD here. I have a novel idea. What if we could put a shock collar on loeffler and when he runs dumb plays (bzzzzz)
LOVE that idea! Love it!
I’m upright. It’s all good.
Ooh, fullback sighting
looks like coates backing it up so far
Woohoo, it seems the fullback has magical powers
New ball game!
Holy crap! Everyone just saw that, right?
We’re rallying??!!! Hot damn!
Muahahhaha. prosh in for two plays and we score. though he seemed to run the wrong way on both plays but whatever. I’ll attribute to his presence alone.
Touchdown, but if we would have ran behind Prosch, Mason would have walked in instead of being hit on the 5.
Touchdown!!
…..And I discovered that I was posting on the other thread. Ooops. Auburn ties the game on a great long ball from Mosley to Coates, and Mason powers it in. Game tied!
….We’ll switch threads at the half.
“Fullback don’t care”
…..Parkey will dribble it onside! And he gets it back!
Great call!
Big MO is in the HOUSE!
…..Ole Miss was asleep at the switch, and just backed away from it!
Great. Now run behind Prosch!
….Fake, and Mosley hits Blake, for 13 more.
…..1st down at the Ole MIss 40. Pistol set. Mason over the left, won’t go down! And he gets seven.
…..2nd and 3. I set. Handoff Mason, and he’s submarined on the short side for a loss of two.
Can we start the season over? You know, call “Do over”
…..3rd and 5. Mosley in the shotgun. McCalebb in motion. And Auburn calls time. 4:01 left in this tie ballgame. I think the McCalebb bubble screen was coming, and Ole MIss was all over it.
…..Here go the Tigers, on a possession play. The shotgun. Draw to McCalebb, and he’s stiffarming his way, and inside the 20!
…..1st down at the 20. Fumbled the snap, and fell forward for no gain.
…..2nd and 11 from the 20. One back. give, and Mason cuts back, and gets about two.
….3rd and 9 Tigers. Mosley in the shotgun. Pistol. And Auburn jumps. Patrick Miller.
Ooh, Auburn has “big boy” yardage stats…
……Now third and very long. No sacks here, please!
…..A draw, McCalebb loses five, and it’s almost like a sack anyway. Wow.
…..Auburn runs the clock down, and burns their last timeout with 1:07 left in the half.
…..This will be about a 45 yard attempt, or so. Ball is on the Ole Miss 29.
…..46 yard attempt coming. Parkey will hammer it, and it is GOOOOD! Auburn leads, 17-14! One minute left in the half.
Kick another onside…
Nice kick by Parkey in a swirling wind. He boomed it…woudl have been good from 50+
Yes!
Good game for Auburn so far. Keep running the ball in the second half and use Jay Prosch. The Ole Miss defense will get tired.
…..Parkey out for the kickoff. He’ll will hammer this one out of the end zone on the fly!
…..Ole MIss at the 25. Handoff Scott, and he’s run out at the 30, stops the clock. 55 seconds left.
…..Screen to Moncrief, and he’s out of bounds at the 38, first down.
….Fires to Logan, across midfield, another first down.
….Auburn can’t get the QB down, and it’s another toss to the tight end to the Auburn 40.
…..31 seconds left. at the Auburn 44. Loaded left. Wallace will dump to Allen over the middle, and he’s got 22 yards, running free.
…..Jonathan Mincy is down, and it looks like some sort of leg injury.
…..Replay looks more like a concussion, a blow to the head.
…..Mincy walks off under his own power. War Eagle!
…..Pistol. Wallace rolls out, and will throw it away.
…..16 seconds. Dump to Neat, dumped at the 11, short, and Ole Miss calls time with 10 seconds left. Last one.
……Ole Miss in the gun on 3rd and 1. Five wides, and Neat jumped! False start!
…..3rd and 6. Same set. Wallace runs up the gut to the ten, first down.
…..And it turns out that Ole MIss DID have a timeout left, and they use it here.
…..Bryson Rose is 5 of ten on the season, and this one will be 28 yards. This kick is up and good, tie game.
We are still in this one!
…..It’s halftime in Oxford, and the game is tied at 17-17. We’ll be switching threads at this point to the “Live Blog” thread. It’s located here:
http://trackemtigers.com/?p=1038
We are all in this together. WDE!
Down by 7. 4th QTR.
We got two possessions. Maybe three depending on how much gas our defense has left.
This game is up for grabs. Barring our luck, AU has a chance.
I don’t even want to think about it if we lose.
WDE
Awful. Awful. Awful.
The bug that bit us in the 1st QTR has returned in the 4th.
I hear the jet engines beginning to whine.
WDE
